Since there is no BMS on source battery, you need to be careful not to deplete it too much. Ecoflow has input 10V-25V, so it will probably deplete source battery at least to 10V, which is too low for lead acid, and you might damage it.
@HarringtonMediaEcoFlow

Part of the reason why a deep cycle battery is recommended. It's built to be depleted then charged back up.
@Sasoon2006

@@HarringtonMediaEcoFlow Depleting to less than than 50% state of charge (less than 12V) will greatly reduce deep cycle battery life. I think 10.5V is considered as empty, so Ecoflow will easily discharge it to 0% (since it takes any 10V-25V DC input)

The xt60 dc input will accept various input voltages, and will increase the wattage allowed as you raise the voltage, until you reach the max voltage of the particular ecoflow product you have. It doesn’t know the difference between battery dc voltage, or solar dc voltage. For example, the delta 1300 accepts 10a in, so will charge at 120w at 12v, or 360w at 36v, or 400w at 40v. It makes 400w at 40-65v because it is limited to 400w internally. You can use a step up transformer to get the voltage up to the output that you need so your ecoflow chargers at max speed off of any car battery. Just don’t go over the maximum solar voltage input. I would also permanently install the battery leads for a fixed installation. Good luck!

I got the adapter cable and have been wondering about that issue myself. So if I have a 12.8 volt lithium iron phosphate (the LiPo4) 100ah battery that I want to use with my River Classic (I have the Delta 1300 also), and those batteries have a BMS or battery management system, then it will only charge the river at 120 w, is that correct? That's what I understand from what you said. Maybe Paul can weigh in also. Because this video shows that we are not limited to buying the proprietary "add-on batteries" but I want to make sure I don't blow up my River by doing this.

The next level of this would be a huge agm instead of extra proprietary battery from ecoflow. You could charge the agm with a cheapo solar controller and a percentage-actuated switch to turn chraging on for the ecoflow. Example: The agm would only charge the ecoflow when under 40% and up to 90%, prolonging the life of the ecoflow and solar would keep the agm in check when not charging.

Update; I finally had a chance to test this adapter (and another one just like it that came with the lifepo4 battery charger I got) when the power went out for over a day during this winter storm Elliott. Unfortunately, it did not work. The other adapter turned out to be exactly the same as the one you recommend here, and I used both and neither of them was able to charge the eco-flow Delta or River. You may have to do another video using a Lifepo4 battery (mine is a 100ah) because the adapter may work with a lead acid or AGM battery, but it won't work with a lifepo4 battery, sadly. If anyone else is reading this, can you suggest how we can connect and use the battery capacity in a Lifepo4 100ah battery to supplement the Ecoflow's on-board battery?

@@HarringtonMediaEcoFlow Well the 20amp charger I got to charge up the battery via AC uses that exact cable (alligator clips and XT60 connector), and that works beautifully. So I used that cable at first but it didn't work when connected to the River, so after the power came back I topped off the lifepo4 battery - which worked, there had been minimal loss but enough to show if the cable worked - and tried using the original cable, the one that you suggest and the one I got last summer, but it still doesn't work. I did find another channel that shows a 72 Watt, 24v "converter" gizmo that uses an XT90 that is drawn down to an XT30 (the number at the end indicates how many amps that connector handles, meaning the XT60 is designed for a maximum of 60 amps) by using an adapter connector dongle in order to use a Lifepo4 to charge up different solar generators, including a River. You may have to make an amended version of this video to indicate that it may not work when using these new Lifepo4 batteries (I got a 100ah, the most popular). I'm still researching this, but I wanted to let you and your viewers know that the lifepo4 battery technology is apparently quite different from the lead acid or AGM batteries that have been prevalent up until now, and require different accessories and handling.

According to the specs I see your lf4 has the same abilities ( minus some Amp hrs. ) as my river pro. 200w solar input, 600w output etc. The paxcess panels and the adaptor shown have been reliable. You don't really want unfiltered power going into the generator. Unless you know it's safe with no surges, and under the max watts and volts your unit can handle. But have not found any problem with paxcess panels being compatible.

Buy a Lithium battery that is closest to the MPPT's most efficient voltage. If your unit has a solar input of 10-25V your MPPT would probably love a 5S lithium ion. "24V" lithium ion batteries are 7S and lithium iron phosphate are 8S. Maximum voltage of both of those (4.2V and 3.65V respectively per cell) is going to be well out of the MPPT's voltage range which sucks because a 24V lithium iron phosphate (LiFeP04 or LFP) battery would be most cost effective. a 24V 100Ah (2560wh) starts at $600 and works its way up to $900. Anything past that is silly overpriced/overhyped BS. The real way to do this is to add your own battery expansion cable to the BMS terminals on the unit and build a battery that is identical in chemistry and voltage. You can only connect your homemade expansion battery when voltages are similar though so you couldn't drain your Delta to 30% and then attach a 14S Lithium Ion that is full at 58V. The current would attempt to rush from your battery to fill the Delta's battery and if you are smart you would have installed a fuse on your main output cable so that current never reaches the BMS post. Jehu Garcia has a couple videos on this, one specifically where he mods the Delta for an expansion port, a few others where he uses reclaimed scooter batteries to plug into the solar input.

Any old battery is not as simple as it sounds. Every battery including one labelled ‘deep cycle’ has a minimum level below which it should not be used. Beyond that point it will be damaged. You need to be sure that the device has a cut off to prevent that. The position you DON’T want to be in is having a damaged battery catch fire when you’re out or asleep. The fact that the guy says 100V when he should be saying watts shows he hasn’t got a clue or done the research. Be careful with what you see on KZbin.
