After 6 months of research and learning about these solar generators I purchased an EcoFlow Delta 2 and I'm very happy with my choice. It has run my full-size SEARS 21 cuft refrigerator that I purchased in 1996 for 18 hours. I'm so happy with this EcoFlow product that I just purchased the EcoFlow Delta Max extra battery to increase its overall watt storage. I will use my WEN 2350 Inverter pure sign wave gasoline generator as a means to recharge the EcoFlow Delta 2 if the power grid is not available. I also own the EcoFlow 120-watt portable solar cells as a means of charging. I'm not a camper I'm more of a be ready person. Thanks for the great review.

Great review! Just bought one last month, even though its a year old now, its still a great option, and was on offer at £699. I love it. The fans are a bit noisy, but my biggest gripe is the power drain. I use mine in my van, and Im in Scotland (not a great deal of sun at this time of the year), I have a solar panel on my van roof, but its annoying that I lose about 5% power if I don’t switch the Delta 2 fully off, and if its fully off, it wont take a charge from the solar panel. Apart from that though, it ticks all the boxes - its great
@TheTechnologyMan Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment glad you liked the video! This is still my power station of choice - even a year on! Is that 5% with AC off and over how long? Parasitic drain is an issue with these power stations, although the EcoFlow app does offer lots of timeout options which do help - but disappointing not in your scenario.
@brianbathgate4944 Жыл бұрын
@@TheTechnologyMan Yeah, just 5% over night with everything off. I contacted their support (which is fantastic too) and asked if they could add a Sleep Mode to their development requests - would be great if the loss was absolutely minimised (being able to turn off Wifi/Bluetooth for eg)… I think it would really help people who rely on their Delta 2 for emergencies…. Thanks for the info! I've ordered the unit. I haven't purchased solar panels yet as I'm still figuring that out. I live in an 8 x 20 tinyhouse. I connect my house to another house with an extension cord. (I don't run much power. Mini fridge, laptop, LED lights, occasional air fryer, sometimes space heater but I have a wood stove.) I looked at the Renology 200 Watts you recommended. Wondering if those are the best solar panels for me and how many if I were to try to run my house on this battery all the time. Maybe I need 2 200W? Could this even be possible with this battery or is this more of just for emergency situation? I'm thinking of putting it on an indoor generator switch so it would be for emergency use at first but would be cool if I could go fully off-grid with the battery and solar. Any insight would be much appreciated! Thanks!

The Delta 2 has a 500W maximum input via solar - so 2 x 200W will probably be your maximum. You'd really have to check how much everything uses. Air fryer and space heater will drain it fast!

When power go out, I understand the load connected to the DELTA 2 will be powered by the battery after 30 msec. What happen when the main power come back. Does the DELTA 2 stop powering the loads from the battery and switch automatically to the power grid?

Great review with lots of good info. Question for you, how does the Delta 2 know whether it was a car or solar charging plugged into the XT60? I plan to hardwire a 12V to 24V step up converter to my car alternator to charge the Delta 2. I was hoping it'll charge at 24V x 15A, but now I'm concerned it may only pull 8A like you saw.

I've just checked and even with the latest firmware there's still no option to manually switch. As it happens just yesterday was testing their River 2 Max which does have this option and I could switch to solar charging to max out the DC input.

Excellent review, we've also bought a Delta 2 and inline with your review~ However I do have a question regarding the unit though, is it normal to consume less battery at full charge, vs when it's less charged? For example, we tried to boil 1.7L of water with a 1800W kettle, when it's at 47% charged it used 19% to boil the water, and we did another boil at 28% charged, it used 27%. I would have thought it should be consistent irrespective of the charge %. 🙏
@TheTechnologyMan Жыл бұрын
Thanks glad it was useful! You'd probably have to test with an exact load. There may be other factors at play boiling a kettle. But I've not specifically tested how accurate the battery level is - I doubt it's as accurate as the display would let you believe. Especially when using it at full gas!

As someone who works in the Broadcast industry I have been dreaming of a portable lithium power station/APC with removable 95/100w batteries for years. Hi, great review a question please if you can help me I had ordered Delta 2 PPS, the XT60 plug for solar panels is a special one? I want to say it is defferent than the one included in the package for the car charging? I had read that there is a third pin for the device to detect if it is a cable for solar charging, I want to make this cable myself, I find plugs but not the original cable. You must know I saw you had the Ecoflow panels. Is it better to use one aftermarket panel 290W 19V, or 2 panels 100W 19V each in series? Those panels I find here. Thanks you very much in advance.
@TheTechnologyMan Жыл бұрын
I wasn't aware of a third pin - assumed it was a standard XT60 connector but will check next time I have it to hand. I've used third party panels with the Delta 2 without any issues. Hard to advise on the panels - can't see your link but if the 290W panel can really deliver that it should still charge faster than the 2 100W panels - if there's enough sun.

25Nov23 A very nice informative review. With the Amazon Discount right now, I was preparing to order today. However, I noticed that 4 AC outlets were not 3 prong ground style like so many other portables are for the USA/Canada market. This is going to limit how many devices can be plugged in as a lot of power cords are 3 prong male. Lastly, there isn't any built-in lamp. Not sure why EcoFlow missed these two rather typical features. Your UK version AC outlets are of a different configuration. So, you wouldn't have noticed what I've pointed out for other 'followers', 'Review Visitors' etc. Thanks! Kind Regards, Richard C. Toronto

great in depth review . i appretiate many aspects of it not ventured onto by others . one question i had tho was at about what wattage does the fan become audible or turn on when discharging . for me fan noise whilst charging will not really be an issue . i will be potentially using it right alongside audio and video recording when discharging it . does it just depend on if the delta 2 is hot and not necessarily involving of watts . in this case if it is on for a long shoot of 3 hours with a watt draw of lets say 50 in one scenario and 80 in another, will the fan be audible in both, after an amount of time i as well noticed in the unit hobotech reviewed he mentioned it would not have clean sound when powering an amp, however i think this could be fixed by using a power strip that cleans it up . mahalo once more

Warning: You may only get half the power out of what you put in !!. You might think charge it up at the night rate and use it to power things during the day - thus save the difference - if only. If you are powering 'resistive' type equipment - electric heaters you'll get what you put in - minus DC/AC conversion loses. However the issue comes when you power equipment with a low power factor, pf. Anything with motors, fridge, freezer, computers (security system) with a switched mode power supply will typically have low pf's - down to 0.41. When powered from the mains you are only charged for 'Real Power' and thus effectively not charged for the losses incurred from powering low pf equipment. Industry pay extra when running low pf equipment - but as yet not the consumer. A fully charged EcoFlow unit has to provide both the losses from the DC to AC conversion but also the losses due to the low pf - thus a 0.5 pf equipment will only give you half the units rated power ouch! Thus with the charging losses on top, 20%, don't expect savings by charging at night and use by day. Even if you use it only at low powers, the internal fan will frequently operate - and is quite noisy.

I find it odd that you're giving the Delta 2 a 91% efficiency power rating. The KZbinr "City Prepping" also tested it and gave it a mere 74% rating. Here is the link to what he said and why. The test section of the video is at 6 minutes and 20 seconds in. You both seem to be pretty honest guys, so now I'm fairly confused. I will say that I don't fully trust the Ecoflow's power rating. I've owed it for over a week now and just yesterday I boiled some water for some coffee. The unit said I still had 33% left on the power scale. Normally when I boil for one large cup it takes about 8% to make my coffee, but yesterday when I boiled the water it went from 33% all the way down to only 6%. That is a 27% drop for one cup of coffee??? Something is not right. I think powering it up so fast is not giving it a quality charge. Maybe if I lowered the watts to only 800 during the charge cycle... it might do better and last longer. Anyways... I do wish I could own a Bluetti, but so far they don't make a South African version and the few Bluetti's that they sell in this country are from the EU and need an adapter. Still... I can at least make my coffee and wash my clothes now when the power goes off....which it daily does in South Africa. Thanks for your video,.... cheers! Sorry not seen that video. You can do your own test with a cheap energy monitoring plug. Results will vary depending on the output you use. You'll get better efficiency at lower output - less heat loss. You also might get better efficiency after a few charge / discharge cycles. If you're getting less than 80%, I'd at least check with EcoFlow and see what they advise.

Okay so every review misses out critical information and tests. No review looks into using the solar while operating, or mains power while operating. Can the Unit be used as a UPS with continuous usage 24/7 year after year....No information!!! Does this have an AC by pass or is it okay to run the Unit while is charges on AC? More questions...can I have Solar and mains AC connected at the same time while using the unit & will mains power supplement the Solar? So many question and I don't think there is a reviewer out there with a the ability or mind to even investigate such thing...I can go on and on with more and more questions that never accrued to anyone...I should be reviewing.

This review is over 20 minutes - I try and cover as much as a I can but you can always ask EcoFlow if you have a specification question that no review has answered. In reply to some of your questions: yes it has a UPS function - but I personally wouldn't use it as a dedicated UPS - there are much better (and cheaper) options out there. But it is very useful as an occasional UPS - for example if there's a storm coming and blackouts are likely you can plug say your router etc into it and use it as a UPS. (In fact EcoFlow call it en EPS mode - Emergency Power Supply mode). It shouldn't really deteriorate the battery any quicker using at as a UPS year on year - since the AC is just being passed through - but I just feel it's an expensive way to use it and might damage another component with constant use. Yes you can use all the outputs when it's charging. No you can't use AC and DC charging simultaneously unfortunately on this unit. If this is possible I mention it. There is a test Lab feature in the accompanying app to prioritize solar charging which I've not fully tested yet. Hope that answers at least some of your questions. And yes if you do buy a unit please do review it - the more reviews the better!

I've purchased x2 Ecoflow Delta 2 but cancelled it due to unforseen circumstances. I've never received the item since they have already recalled the shipment. But they charged me hefty cancellation fees!! I wasn't expecting it.. Now, they won't issue the refund citing that they are changing their system as an excuse. I suspect theya re intentionally delaying it . Please avoid buying this product for their poor customer service. Very disappointed!!!!

Don't buy delta 2? ... Mine worked OK for a short while then I have had nothing but Bluetooth and WiFi connection problems. I bought a second unit and it is doing the same. ECOFLOW SUPPORT SO FAR HAS NOT BEEN ADEQUATE

The Ecoflow Delta 2 works fine. If your Bluetooth is not connecting automatically then simply click on "Settings" in the app (top right corner) then scroll to bottom and click on the blue "unlink". Then just relink using Bluetooth in the normal sequence for connecting.

@@Globetrotter-1 sadly my experience was another exchange which was worse and came up with an error in the display. Thankfully Ecoflow saw the light and allowed a full refund of the 2 delta 2's and delta 2 extra battery in favour of a delta 2 max and extra battery. I found the delta 2 to have ridiculous quality issues. I nearly had a full refund and gave up. So far so good. The delta 2 max & extra battery is working with the powerstream quite nicely this far. 🤞🤞

There are bigger power stations - but they're also heavier. I quite like the modular idea of the Delta 2 - you can add an additional battery.

Hi. Thank you very much for the review. I found it very insightful. I have an interesting perspective: I live in South Africa, where EcoFlow is being widely distributed - capitalising on a thing called Loadshedding (Google it for a bit of a laugh 😅); basically national power utility switches off power for up to 6 hours at a time, daily (!). EcoFlow the brand has some bad reviews, with people stating their devices break within a month. I think this may have something to do with surge when power comes back on, but I know very little about such things. Basically, my question is, would you rate this product for running two computer workstations - 2 laptops + 2 monitors each for up to 6 hours at a time (and then some TV to help escape from reality). Might need the extra battery for that amount of time though I think.
@TheTechnologyMan Жыл бұрын
Interesting thanks! You'd need to check the power requirements of those devices with an energy monitoring plug ideally. Finger in the air guess - maybe 100W per workstation, 50W per monitor say 50W for both laptops - so around 350W. 6 hours might be unlikely - but honestly spend £10 on a energy monitoring plug and use a multi-gang extension lead with everything plug in. See what Wh you use in one hour - you might find the Delta 2 is enough!

Thank you very much. I appreciate the feedback. Would you use a surge protector when connected to the wall power? For when power comes back on…
