I just got a 2nd inverter and a 50A hub... once i finish wiring a generator inlet. I could use some more panels
@NoneofyourdambusssinessАй бұрын
I have 36khw- I have 2 dpus with 50amp hub and 3 batts each into inlet and using interlock. Like you, I went manual simply bcs I wanted to keep my costs down. This system powers my house 24x7 for a day + if need be. During extended outtages I ran my generator during the day for a bit then switched over in the evening to avoid overnight issues and to secure my gennie. I like this system, like you said it is simple to use. My only 2 gripes...and I'd recommend mentioning are the following (both are weight related): 1) Once you go beyond a 2 batt stack, this thing becomes very easy to topple.over. The plastic base has plastic wheels and they suck! Please if going to larger stacks (3+ batts) ensure to set this up where you want it, lock the wheels and dont be moving it around. Ecoflow does sell a wall anchor but man these are too heavy. 2) The fact that these batteries are stacked and not locked in any way (basically by gravity and their weight) is slightly unerving. The batts are 100lbs + each. If the stack begins to topple, grt out of the way and prey bcs there is nothing keeping it together. Im actually putting together a wood base for each stack that allows for ventilation and more stability than the plastic bases. Other than that- I love these and loved saving $20k and getting more power over my quoted Tesla system.
@johnnysweekendsАй бұрын
Yea not sure why people would even be moving this around unless it’s one or two batteries max. Doesn’t make sense people try to move these when stacked. But agree would like to see a better wheel design but mine sits on the plastic rack and no wheels Your setup is ideal for most anyone or a single maxed out 👍🏼
@tltealАй бұрын
Exactly on the stack of batteries. I have 5 in one and forget about moving it around. My approach will be to ditch the ecoflow rolling cart with the crappy wheels and get a furniture moving little cart with real wheels so if I need to move it around, I'm not risking having 500+ pounds fall over on me.

@notonkАй бұрын
@@johnnysweekends Hard to believe, IDK, but it did occur according to 2 electricians and a HVAC technician. EF said that it was a defective battery. It surged and smoke poured out of one of the units. @@johnnysweekends I don't think so. It arrived well packaged. The electrician believed that it was feedback and that is what the EF technical support said at first. But regardless they system cause a massive surge with fried my HVAC ECU, thermostat, several appliances and ever outlet surge protector that was plugged in. The surge scorched my electrical panel's BUS bar too. I was lucky that the battery didn't catch fire as these lithium batteries can't be extinguished.

@unwin42Ай бұрын
Couple of things worth mentioning. If you're charging with 240v you cannot use the 120v outputs during that time according to EcoFlow. The DPU puts out radio interference even when not inverting or charging. The only way to make it stop is to unplug from the wall and turn the DPU off. This probably bothers amateur radio operators more than the general public. Finally ,there are far too many reports of major component failures in the Smart Home Panel 2 to recommend it at this point. Relays failing that cannot be replaced in the field, effectively causing power outages the unit is supposed to prevent.

@unwin42Ай бұрын
@@unijabnx2000 I think both but it's a good question I'd love someone to test. The manual warns about it for the C19 input. I think that when using the SHP2 all the AC outputs are disabled. I'm not sure if they're disabled when using the Power In/Out port with a 240v generator.

My small solar system is never designed to pay for its self, even with energy price inflation and I hope it never needs to. It is to give me an energy option in time of grid failure. The latter for us in the UK suburban areas is very rare indeed. However these are the good times, and so many people in the world were living in them up to quiet recently, then suddenly war or other disaster came. I grow a lot of food in my garden and keep two freezers full with it. To loose a couple of freezers full of supermarket food is a real bummer, that's about money though. When you grew the food yourself its like loosing a wife or worse your dog.

Again thanks for an excellent review has always you do a great job. I’ve been trying many configurations and it is a great unit The big let down is that there is no way to have any auto start generator with this unit while connected to the Smart Home panel. It is a big disappointment for me Specially that all other unit can accomplish that. Delta max delta pro etc. One thing that’s very important that you may want to let your viewers know is that if the DOU is connected to the Smart Home panel? You cannot use the 120 v inlet and use it 240 outlet at the same time. It will damage the DPU. I was hoping to get this configuration working so when my batteries are low, I could just activate a automatic switch from the 120 outlet but if the unit is connected to the DPU again, it will damage it and there is no way to have any automation having a generator starting at automatic which is a big letdown. Yes i got the idea of using solar input which I did with a smps or can do with eg4charger. But it still a manual action.

If everything's electric in your house like mine I don't know. What your third took because that would be dark, and I'll try to workout just fine, but you won't try your clothes at night. Unless you have more power than that. Or more. Enphase and EG4 GridBoss/FlexBoss21 both do. Sorry, falls short for me.. also with a generator, you don’t need huge batteries, get enough for a day, if it runs low, it can start a generator to charge them for a few hours, to get you to the next sunlight.. with a generator and auto start, you can survive any prolonged grid outage, as the generator only runs a few hours/day, and only on low or no solar days. I've spent $30K on 1 DPU, 5 batteries, 14 - 400W panels and had the panels roof mounted just to find that these DPU's have nothing but problems. I am now on my 3rd inverter as well with more problems. The MPPT controllers cannot balance the loads properly and you will not get the amount of input from your solar that they are putting out. The cooling fans are faulty and the AC input relays break quickly. I've had 3 faulty units in only 2 months and still do not have a working system. This is over priced Chinese garbage in my experience. I have spent countless hours troubleshooting these problems for EcoFlow as their customer service is horrible. Buyer beware, this equipment is garbage. This is not a knock at this video, just another buyer that is on his 3rd inverter in 2 months with no solution and $30K less on my pocket.

The inverters work in conjunction with the controllers
@whitegorilla2835Ай бұрын
What I mean by the faulty controllers is that on the high input side (10 panels) is putting out half of the amperage of the low side (4 panels) leading to very poor solar input. My first DPU also had a fan that ran constantly at 90db. My 3rd DPU cannot take AC input and shoots an error code if I try. It's been a nightmare dealing with Ecoflow customer support. They are in China. I have only had the equipment for 2 months and EcoFlow's solution is to send out another unit and not a new unit, but a refurbished unit. I paid for new equipment but they want to give me used equipment. These units are way overpriced and complete garbage.
