Great review Claire. Thank you so much. I love calligraphy and I do agree that blenders I find a little useless, esp Tombow. I have the Kuretake set but these look better for blending imo. I’d like these for colouring too. 🌹

Mine arrived today and I’ve come back to see again how you’ve used them Claire. Your review is great 👏They’re fabulous and I got them at 50% less on eBay and as they’re from the UK I presume you’d find the cheap price on eBay UK too. I got mine on eBay AU but they posted worldwide.

Fabulous review, thanks very much. I just bought a smaller set of these and they are beautiful but I am afraid to use them in my coloring book. I have prepped the page with Daniel Smith Watercolor Ground but will first try it on a separate piece of paper.

Just now saw these review and I happened to stumble on these pens . At Michael’s they have open stock I got the gold color lovely! Pens , and went back for 3 more colors but I didn’t no they are also water 💧 color pens ! So glad I saw this review because the colors are really lovely!! I am not much off a water color person , more colors pencils & gel pens but I really like these amazing pens👍🏻 Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this pen

Oh also they have the inks in jars for refills. And I absolutely love using them outside of the pens as I’ve not got mine yet but I have has the ink for a few years and I know how wonderful they really are. Just curious about the pastel range. Thanks CK🦋🌈

Hey I have bought the pastel set and sadly they don't do we'll with water 😑 but the color are really beautifully so for me it's not a big problem but be careful 😘 Thank you for the review now I know the full potential of those marker I'm considering to buy more 😁 From Belgium with love 😍

What a brilliant review! I'd often thought what these pens were like because I've seen them online a few times but never 'took the plunge' so to speak. Now I know what they are like (thanks to you) I might buy some in the New Year. The main attraction with them (for me at least) is the fact they are water-based and unlikely to bleed through paper. It's a great addition to what's already out there. To be honest, I've never been a fan of Tombows so I'm glad there seems to be a better pen than that one. I found that Tombows weren't very juicy at all. Kuretake Zig Clean Colors are OK though as I like the nibs on those.👍

I have since bought one Sky Blue Ecoline pen and I love it! In the past previous pens I've had, once I added water the colour wouldn't move at all..but with the Ecoline I have no problems. It really does behave like watercolour..and I believe they have cute little bottles of ink as well to go with them. I think I might need a bank loan lol.😍

I don't know how much these cost in the us or in other countries but in a depo store I found these pens less then 2€. I bought the black one but now I want all of them. The pens are so amazing and I just love them.

They really look juicy! But do they bleed to the back when you press in to the paper? Also, as they are paints, is it possible to use wet on wet with them? All the best!

FWIW I found Ecoline pens at half price. Seller is omghowcheap and they’re on eBay. I found them on eBay Au but they’re not Australian. British pounds show up so possibly eBay UK might have them too.

Hi - was wondering if you’ve used these much in colouring books? Is there bleed throu? ( hoping not being that they are watercolour ) looking at using them for backgrounds or for large areas. TIA

They are quite wet so will bleed through thin paper. It depends on the book you're colouring in and how heavy you apply them

I was wondering if you had or if you have used to pastel colours. Because I watched a few people trying to use them from a scrawler box. (Not using water paper) and they just didn’t move at I. I’m waiting on a 10 set of (I guess primary’s. similar to yours just a lot less ). I’m curious as to weather it’s worth getting the pastels too. Of if as I saw they just don’t work. Any idea how to prevent the tip from picking up pieces of paper and ultimately making holes in it after one layer of paint is already there?

It’s hard, but you have to try and use a light hand and not go over the same area too many times. Also it depends what quality paper you’re using xx

Use Clear Gesso first - then you can paint with watercolour on any paper.

i really wanted these and bought a pack of them, but when i tried them out without water they were really streaky and would ruin the paper. i tried using water but they didnt blend, i tried a non watercolor based pen and even that one did a better job.

These have a thick nylon brush nib and are much juicier than the kuretake, which have a thin real brush nib with individual bristles x

It depends how thick your BuJo paper is... these pens are really saturated & wet to lay down so I’d be super careful. Can you buy one open stock to check?

I use them in my bujo. Not for colouring but for doodles and lines. Mostly the light colors and especially the pastelset of 5. The darker colors can give a fair bit of ghosting but that is is all dark color brushpens. If i use them for watercolor splashes i sometimes put gesso first but if i don't use much ink and water there is no need. It is fun to have the colors merge into fun patterns on their own! Enjoy....

You say "juicy" when I think that sometimes you mean "highly pigmented," yes?

No I mean there’s lots of ink, very wet

Unfotunately the inks in these pens are not lightfast. That's a big drawback if you want to display the original artwork created with these pens. I prefer the Pitt pens from Faber Castell. They're a bit more expensive but are superior artist pens. Juicy and colorful as well but highly lightfast and permanent.
