Mr Alaje is speaking with both sides of his mouth at one hand he said it’s unfair for Lagos to sign a contract and then 7.5% VAT goes around and at the other hand he said he supports the 50% equality formula. Why is he saying if VAT is increased inflation will increase, for God sake Major driver of Inflation in Nigeria are basic commodities like Food, Transportation, Agriculture products , medicine , house, education etc. The proposed tax by Oyedele clearly stated that these basic commodities that affect poor citizens like us, would be exempted from VAT and VAT on luxury items would increase in phases 7.5% to 10% and finally at 15% this increase is only on Luxuries. CIT (Corporate Income Tax) will be reduced to 25% . Why is he omitting these critical points ?

fair point but the biggest cost to governors is recurrent (salries and wages). This is strictly in Naira. Their Naira allocation has more than doubled. This leaves a lot more for capital expenditure and devt projects. Let''s not excuse the governors

Population in northern Nigeria is only relevant in elections and money sharing while population in southern Nigeria brings revenue. Look at Lagos and RIVERS

And yes, companies owned by just a handful of individuals from the north pay more taxes than some ignorant southerners realize. And if the government was to tax food, taxes from the north where the food is produced would be even higher.

The proposed tax bill violates the constitution by sharing revenue which is the responsibility of the Revenue Allocation Agency. Is anyone talking about this?

That's y it's called a bill, it will be sent to the national Assembly for all constitutional issues
