Eliminate the wasteful spending in government. Millions for “molasses inspectors” is beyond ridiculous. If that isn’t addressed nothing will work. Term Limits. Eliminate lobbying. No tax on Social Security. The Nancy Pelosi way of thinking that “we must pass a bill in order to know what’s in it mentality needs to go.
@markfischer7138

I agree on term limits, and lobbying, and not allowing congress to trade stocks. You need inspectors, we cannot allow or trust corporations to inspect their own products and stay safe. Read the Jungle, this is why the government started to inspect meat packing plants to start with. The issues I also agree with is wasteful spending, we have a tax system that doesn't tax the rich well, and doesn't go after the 5000 plus millioniares wh currently owe taxes.

Nancy Pelosi ran the House in what can be described as "an authoritarian way". Remember the statements government leaders like Biden said that we must show democracy can work because authoritarianism is growing in the world. Anytime a government leader like Treasury Secretary Yellen comes on television and says the debt limit needs to be raised to pay for expenses already incurred, not new expenses, I wish she would be asked: " Madame, Treasury Secretary, are the tax receipts shown by the White House Office of Management and Budget as well as the Congressional Budget Office true and accurate? I find it hard to understand that statement above in the context of reported tax revenues.

@@markfischer7138 I don't disagree with you on inspectors, but is that where the money is really going or is it code for someone else's pocket? None of this spending is audited at all. We really don't know where this money is going. We The People have a right to know how OUR tax money is spent.

Make the first $30,000 tax free (to help the poorest citizens) and tax earnings above $30,000 at no more than 10%. THEN... eliminate all business taxes. Businesses treat taxes as an expense that are passed on to the consumer. AND FINALLY... reform campaign finance rules to prohibit corporations, foundations, organizations, PACs, etc. from contributing to candidates. Candidates' campaigns should only be allowed to accept donations from people who are eligible to vote for them. There's too much foreign funding and special interest group money in politics and that undermines the interests of US citizens. 🤔

Answer: Tax-Free Threshold and Flat Tax: "This proposal has moderate feasibility. It could gain support from those seeking to simplify the tax code and provide relief for low-income earners." Eliminating All Business Taxes Revenue Impact: This would lead to a massive loss of government revenue, making it highly impractical without significant alternative revenue sources. You would need VAT and revenue neutrality. So that's basically asking to switch to VAT tax system, and consumption based tax. Thus transition plan would include: Developing a smooth transition plan to phase out existing business taxes and implement the VAT.

The government leaders need to establish spending plans, which include numbers with however they want to change the taxation system. I could possibly envision a future with federal tax revenue coming from a mix of a national sales tax and an income tax. That would mean our income tax rates are lower. But there has been no detailed financial modeling and analysis. What is done through the media is just repeating slogans of emotional phrases. What has bothered me the most about the language surrounding the debt limit is pundits and government leaders repeating that the debt limit needs to be raised to pay for expenses already incurred, not new spending. The government gets the spending money either from some form of tax revenue, or issuing bonds in exchange for cash, which is defined as debt. There is no such thing as someone spending money they do not have. It is just a question of how the person or organization got control of the money. I just listened yesterday to two pundits from "The Hill" saying the debt ceiling will be raised, and it will pay for money already spent. That does not make any sense. Money can only be spent by any entity they have control over it, albeit temporary. The debt ceiling means the Treasury cannot borrow more money until a new higher limit is set by a majority of votes in both chambers of Congress. The president then signs it. "Extraordinary measures seems to mean that the executives in the Treasury Department take funds normally used to pay for retirement investment funds for federal employees, and instead uses them for their salaries. Are these sources of funds tax revenue? That is the interesting question, and where this whole subject becomes confusing.

Answer: Simplifying Tax Code: High feasibility, bipartisan support. Benefits: Increased compliance, efficiency, fairness. Risks: Unintended consequences. Reducing Special Interest Deductions: Moderate feasibility. Benefits: Broader tax base, increased revenue. Risks: Political opposition. Could also have reduced bracket to 2, another possibility. 2-bracket "One approach could involve a low tax rate for the first bracket, with a relatively high income threshold before entering the second, higher tax bracket. This could provide significant tax relief for low- and middle-income earners. Flat Tax with Exemptions: Another approach could be a flat tax rate for all income above a certain exemption level. This would simplify the system but could be less progressive than a graduated system." Your proposal is Flat Tax with Exemptions. (all above a certain exemption) Flat Tax with Exemptions: Personal: Basic exemption for all, plus additional exemptions for dependents. Income-Based: Higher exemptions for low-income taxpayers, phased out as income increases. Targeted: Exemptions for disabilities, medical expenses, etc. Other: Exemptions for retirement savings and charitable donations.

Simple and easier to understand (crucial to carefully design those brackets to ensure fairness and avoid unintended consequences, neutral revenue balance) could involve a lower tax rate for the first bracket and a higher rate for the second, with the income threshold for the second bracket carefully set to balance simplicity with progressivity

For me I am glad the wealthy exist. If they didn't who would hire and give you a job? A poor person? And who would pay the majority of all taxes? The poor and middle class? Be careful of what you ask for

A flat tax or national sales tax in place of an income tax wound be regressive and lead to lower income American shouldering a higher tax burden than a wealthier person would. How is that fair? Sometimes, simpler is worse, not better.
@jeffh3984
@jeffh3984 13 күн бұрын
how would a lower income person be shouldering a higher tax burden? if the flat tax is 10%, a person making 10,,000 per year pays 1,000. a person making 100,000 per year pays 10,000. the higher-income person has a larger tax burden (i'm assuming you realize that 10,000 is more than 1,000)

Consumption tax. It's the only thing the rich want. Not going to be an income-based tax. It's all about shifting the tax burden to the poor and middle class. Most people will pay more.
