My Hvac/r school instructor referenced your videos often during class. I subscribed to this channel back then. I just completed my first year in the field and I’m still getting so much good info from GFM. Thank you, sir.

Awesome video series! I really had no ideal how economizers worked. I thought they just opened up to let cool air in & that was it. I did not know about the relationship between the economizer & the return & how the two work together to control the air temp. The basic explanation of the input sensors was good too.

What is reason for jumper wire between t and t1. Can you please explain that? And also if you ever come across replacing these Honeywell economizer module with Honeywell jade controller, please please make a video. Thanks a lot. Very informative

Hey boss, I have a carrier package unit. I'm trying to figure out why it's only calling for Y2 cooling Y1 doesn't get a call. Any tips on that? It's pretty cold out right now, it's about 53°. And the room that we are trying to cool produces a lot of heat so it's about 85° in there. And I can't get the economizer to mix any air. I have the same control unit that you have in this video.
@grayfurnaceman Жыл бұрын
I think you have an economizer problem. With low outside temps, Y1 is outside air. Y2 is compressor. Possible failed motor. Happy new year. GFM

@@grayfurnaceman thanks for respondint, I watched your videos and determine that the actuator is good. This unit doesnt have an actual mixed air sensor installed however they did plug in the violet and pink wire onto the economizer (T1, T) and at the blower compartment they crounded the ends to the chassi... could that be the issue? should thye just not be plugged int on the economiser.. essentially it's jumpered and tied to chassi ground... strange but I don't understand it. Thanks alot for responding BTW!!

Thank you for the vid!! What does jumpering T1 and T do? Forgive me if you already explained this in your prior videos

Capitol Refrigeration,Heating,and Cooling some disconnect them. especially here in az because they're worthless
@grayfurnaceman7 жыл бұрын
I don't think they are worthless in the desert. The cool nights could be used to cool down the high thermal mass of the building. GFM

grayfurnaceman during our summer's it doesn't get below 90 deg for over 3 to 4 months. On roof tops because the sun barrels down on us damn near all year its hotter. So your tstat may call for cool but that damned door opens sucking in hot air. most of my calls here in az that have been for ac blowing hot air was because of these systems

grayfurnaceman and that's the temp at night. it's average daily temp is 117

To do this test jump the SO and SO+ and T1 and T2 do you have to have a call for AC to drive the motor wide open?

Mines doesn’t have an outdoor sensor control, mines has the free cool light on but no action.

Now the problem is, What if the building is sealed, that is no flow? In the Donut shop we have a big exhaust fan and I would like for the damper to stay open most of the time to allow air in to the fryer hood so we have better exhaust flow.
@grayfurnaceman6 жыл бұрын
Your problem is more complicated than that. The exhaust system for any cooking operation should have an exhaust fan for the hood, and a make up air fan to bring outside air into the exhaust hood area. The 2 fans must be interlocked so they both come on at the same time. They must also be set up so that exhaust and makeup air is balanced. The economizer damper is not part of that system. GFM

This video segment has been great. I just did a maintenance today that has 15 rooftops was able to diagnose 5 of the units with bad economizer motors. 55* outside and units were running mechanical cooling and dampers were closed. Motors were siezed
