I have a question. I noticed the screen on the impress is flashing doing filming why?

The image on-screen refreshes at a different rate from the number of frames per second the camera records. Most computer monitors refresh in a range from 60Hz-120Hz; cameras work at 50 frames per second. Because camera and monitor are out of sync, you record fewer images per second, hence the flicker!

Tough decision between the two. Got a good deal on both of them on a black Friday sale but haven't opened them up yet, will return the one I don't want. The Impress features are cool, but also seems to add a bunch of complexity. Both mechanical complexity and complexity by "trusting the guidance system" because that may not be perfect (as the lady on the left said, the pour was a little short, but it showed the green check). Does the Touch Impress also have that feature which you push the portafilter towards the machine and it starts the grind like the normal Touch has?

Great choice in machines! The touch impress will not grind if you press the portafilter in like the touch :)

These women provided what I believe to be a FANTASTIC and honest review and comparison. I'm assisting my sister in selecting a machine, and this video was just what needed. I'm very familiar with the Breville line of machines, but could not explain this like they did. Bravo! While I was not able to convince her to buy a Dual Boiler, I think I'm going to have good luck directing her to the Touch Impress.

here's the thing.... the newer touch models have the milq thing and an upgraded grinder.

Barista touch, since about 2021, have had the newer baratza burrs too. Just never advertised for some reason. I've been selling breville coffee machines since 2020 and can confirm. Milq is marketing. Not even sure what difference it makes for these different milk types

I've got a 35% voucher for Sage/Breville website but, unfortunately, the Barista Touch Impress is not available in the Sage/Breville Italian store. Only the Touch one. The price difference between the two is just 50 euro, but I am afraid that, apart the impress system, other details are better in the Touch Impress. So I have to wait, and who knows how long! 😢 I may be wrong, but I believe that the main feature that names the product, the Impress puck system (with the volumetric measurement, mentioned in the video - which is better than the time measurement of the Touch) could be replaced by measuring the oz/grams of the ground coffee with a scale. Is this my statement correct?

reminder that if you bought very freshly roasted coffee its generally said its best to wait a while after having been roasted to use it for espresso, this is null of course for filter coffee but just a headsup

I have the original Barista Touch and sadly I don't see a compelling reason to spend an extra $500 on the Touch Impress. Now if it included a standardized 58mm portafilter in addition to the upgraded grinder, more programmability and web connectivity then perhaps I could start to see the 50% increase in price. Ideally, I'd like to see more programmability like you see in the Decent espresso machine; the Gaggiuino mod proved it could be done inexpensively. Also, most appliances now are becoming smart and have internet connectivity for ease of use and upgradability .. then that would have been a slam dunk easy breezy sale!!!

It is not for everyone for sure. Look at a Superautomatic like Jura.

How does the machine not have bacteria and mold there’s no way to dry the interior

What do you mean by dry the interior? Is there an espresso machine that allows you to open it to dry the interior? 😂

The inside of the machine only has plain water in it. So the same way mold doesn't build up in a water pitcher or a normal coffee machine or anything else like that. Water isn't perfect though, and there's still build-up, which is why with ANY coffee machine you should be running a cleaning cycle every 3-6mo. With these Barista Express machines there's a tablet or something you can buy from Breville, drop in the tank it does the cleaning once every 6mo or whatever.
