This is literally one of the hokiest, most shadetree mechanic videos I've ever seen from a "professional" outlet. At least you gave the torques.

First off, there’s no need to remove the dogbone. Simply remove the stock bolt, lubricate the new insert preferably with a silicone spray. Place insert in cut outs, use a small jack if need be to get it all the way in. The scissor jack works perfectly. Make sure you centering washer is most towards the insert, then the big washer followed by the bolt. Don't forget to torque it.

DO NOT REMOVE THE BOLTS FIRST, IT WILL PUSH THE BACK OF THE BUSHING OUT WHEN YOU SLIDE THE INSERT IN, AND YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO PUT YOUR BOLT IN OR POSSIBLY CROSS THREAD IT. I wasted 3 hours trying to get it back in when I realized what happened. All you need to do is; loosen the big bolt, no need to take the two 16mm or even remove the dogbone, grease everything up, slide in the insert in, if you're having trouble getting it all the way in use a jack to press it in, be careful not to lift the car off the jackstands, now pull the oem bolt out as quick as you can and put the new bolt in and torque it down properly. ecs would you please consider redoing this video because it's very incorrect. it took me hours to do a job that should have taken minutes because i followed this guide, and I'm not the only one, there's tons of people on the forums having trouble because they followed your guide.

@Londonbridge978
@Londonbridge978 7 жыл бұрын
Nick Benson Photography I ran into this problem too when I was using rhino ramps. I basically used a mallet hammer and pushed the dog bone towards the back of the car until the bolt holes lined up and screw the bolt in at the same time until it catches threads. But it's worth the upgrade I have no wheel hops and I just did a crazy burn out lol

Test drove it and if feels amazing. No noise or ride issues for me but a very solid shift feel. For the 6 speed manual MKV GTI this is a great upgrade. Now if I can only ease my fears about the placement of that washer and how it may effect the longevity of the part.

I just did mine today with only plastic ramps on teh front tires. 1. Spray the dogbone bushing with soapy water to loosen dirt 2. Coat the bushing with dry lubricant or silicone 3. insert the bushing with more meat side on it first 4. Then feed the 2 prongs 5. 9/10 the prongs will not go all the way in 6. Spray more lubricant on the dogbone hole where the 2 prongs show up 7. Insert the washer and bolt with the kit and tightening it will force the prongs in place. 8. Remove the bolt so the rubber can re settle and to add loctite 9. Install bolt at 74lbs ft + 1/4 turn

Don't use grease! The only reason people are beating and/or jacking the bushing into place is because there is no outlet at the top of the bushing to let the grease out, so you are trying to compress grease, which doesn't work too well. What I did was spray the bushing insert and the holes in the existing bushing with silicone spray and it just slid right into place with very little effort. No mallet or jack was required! Aside from a bit more vibration at idle in gear (mine is DSG) as soon as I get rolling it smooths right out and best of all got rid of the wheel shimmy I used to get accelerating through 60 - 80 mph since this maintains driveline alignment under acceleration MUCH better than stock on my 2010 GTI.

Great product! I used just a little valvoline general purpose auto grease and it slid right in. I would definitely use just a small amount of grease because without it the insert won't slide all the way in and you wont be able to get the bolt to thread in. There is much less wheel hop and even less torque steer! Great product guys!

Just installed this insert and VF pendulum mount from ECS. Where did you put the washer on the VF pendulum mount on the middle bold? Between the pendulum and the tranny or between the two pieces of the pendulum? It only came with one washer for this spot, I put it between the transmission and the pendulum though I worry if I got it wrong I will cause premature wear.

My center bolt is super hard I'm using a half inch wrench and a long tube and it's still super hard to remove. When it felt like it finally broke loose it felt like the rubber on the inside moves as I loosen the boot. I don't know how to explain it but something is fucked up i think I'm gonna need to get the whole new bushing and dog bone since I'm stage 2 going 2 plus.

Do check whether you have the older style of insert or the newer style. But aside from that yes it would fit. Powerflex for example sell 2 kits, one for the older style and one for the newer style. The mounts are the same across all cars from the 1.4 Golf to the 3.2 V6 one - Which of course shares the same parts as the A3.

Does this enhance the existing bushing or does it also 'repair' the bushing. The rubber on mine is broken at the 2 common sides and this would be an 'easy fix' vs pressing in a new bushing. 2006 Jetta MKV TDI Manual Tranny. Thanks.

Front of the dog bone mount doesn't need to be removed for installation. Just remove lower bush bolt and slide in after market bush using slight lube not necessary for heavy greasing. Slide in when pushed in with hand no mallet needed . Don't see what this chap is hitting ? Instalation time 1 min .

26mm bolt, holy f%^&$ that's an inch diameter. Plus you'll need a much bigger wrench &/or socket! As a general tip, if you don't like cross-threading fasteners, do NOT tighten any fastener until ALL fasteners are started by hand. Even fighting a rubber mount isn't worth it. Second: put some damn Never Seize on a steel bolt going into aluminum! This vid goes in the "Amateur Hour" bin. I would be embarrassed if I owned ECS, or had anything to do with this vid. But, WTF do I know, I've only been turning wrenches, running shops and racing since the '60's. I still fix my own damn cars, and I'm an old fart. This video does NOT make me want to immediately go to ECS to order the parts I need for dog bone R&R I gotta do on the wife's TDI, THAT is certain. (all I could hear in my head as he beat on the greasy urethane was, 'The bigger the gob, the better the job!') LOL GeoD
