4 wheeling was my main hobby for 45 years, but now, with age and failing eyesight, I'm not able to go anymore and not kill everyone involved! I was looking for a decent 4WD RC that didn't go from 0 to 500 MPH as soon as you turned it on, and I found the Barrage. Then I found a fantastic group of excellent videos made by you and others showing it doing in miniature what we used to do in 1:1 scale! Thanks for the very entertaining videos and for the how to's. Looking forward to more!

So cool, happy to hear that you are enjoying the hobby! I'm into 4-wheelin' as well, so like you RC crawling and trailing really grabbed hold of me. Other than the gas engine...it pretty much mimics all that you do in the 1:1 world. Thanks for tunin' in...really appreciate it!

Ha ha...three layers and a Cup-a-Joe waiting in the car! Such a great rig for the money. The only issue (not for me so far) is the servo...gears get stripped real quick. Easy fix though....and word on the street is Horizon Hobby is sending a replacement free of charge, no questions asked. Thanks for checkin' out the vid Jeff!

well that was some thing that I wondered about, was how well those tires would work.. good to know that you feel they are good. I have been thinking of getting another rig for a project I want to do.. the shorter wheelbase on this one and the fact that it gets such good press so far.. might be the one... thanks for sharing bud and another great crawl/trail.. look forward to that comparison video you are talking about.. thanks for sharing..☺🖒🖒
@2krcbackroads4218 жыл бұрын
Thanks!!! I really appreciate that comment. The tires do very well in the wet, which is where I run most of the time. The ONLY issues I've had are in mud (they don't clean out real well). Mud is tough for any tire really. Overall, the rig is solid with the exception of the servo. I have had no issue with mine so far....but many others have. Thanks again for watching!
@RcNickster7098 жыл бұрын
2KRCBACKROADS well when it comes to electronics it depends on how it's used.. if you are "Tough Trucking" it? then you need a good servo.. but for actual scale runs, a stock servo can be more than enough.. depending on water etc... but I also find a good servo is piece of mind some times too..

Great video, bud! The Barrage is looking swell. I hope to get one of my trucks back in commission, soon, and out for a trail run. Icicle Creek, near Leavenworth? I went camping there with my wife, way back in '02, I think. It was late fall, and the temps never got above the low 50's. Had to keep a campfire going all day. I loved it, she hated it. Haha!

Thanks Man!! Really dig this rig. Yeah, this was a small tributary or little fork off Icicle creek. Cool spot for sure!! Maybe see you on the trails when temps get above 30....ha ha

2KRCBACKROADS I think my next outing is going to be somewhere around Anacortes. I like being by the water in the winter time, because it feels less like winter, especially if it's sunny☀️, like today! I watched your 2-Wraiths video, a little while ago, and remembered how nice it is up there.

2KRCBACKROADS ...👍🏻👍🏻, now... about your rig... what did you use for the " whip antennas"... they look great!
@2krcbackroads4218 жыл бұрын
Mid Life R/C Ha ha ha....thanks! They are Tamiya Scandia tractor antennas. They are fairly cheap depending on where you get them ($6-16) and easy to install. The antenna itself can be bent...but you can bend it back as well....it's thin wound wire. As long as you don't install it in an area that gets abused, you should be fine.

Hey Backroads, Another fun video. I think I have copied a half dozen of them so I can watch them when I am out of internet service. Unless you are running the Barrage in some highly aggressive activity, this thing will serve most folks quite well. The only weak link I have encountered is the steering servo which went bad on the second or third day I had it. Horizon sent me a non-standard servo which has only slightly more torque than the original, but it has been running just fine since then. For reasonably normal use, a high torque servo can be purchased for under $15 shipped to your door. Horizon is great, but a higher torque servo is likely to last a lot longer. Just do not let servo replacement affect one's decision to buy one. The Barrage is a great crawler at a great price. Best wishes, Dave Wile
@2krcbackroads4218 жыл бұрын
Hi David, Thanks a lot, I really appreciate that. I agree with all that you have said. I've had no issues with my servo, but should it go on me, it's really a minor issue IMO. As you said $15...problem solved. Thanks for having a look, all the best!

I have a question I got one too but when I try to go threw snow it won't go at all it gets stuck so easy
@2krcbackroads4218 жыл бұрын
You are probably pushing too much snow with the front end and undercarriage. It helps to walk the path you want to take a few times to compact the snow a bit. Thanks for watching!

Quick question, which car do you prefer the ECX barrage or the 1/18 temper? I'm just wondering because I'm thinking about purchasing one or the other and can't decide thank you ! Btw love the video:)
@2krcbackroads4218 жыл бұрын
Tough question as they are different rigs altogether. The Barrage is a scaler, meant to look like and mimic a full size rig. The Temper is a purpose built rig, designed to crawl. That said, I'll do my best to give you an answer. Let me start by saying I really dig both rigs, and happy with my purchase. Straight out of the box....I would go with the Barrage. You get a lot for your money with the Barrage and don't need to do a thing to it (just know that you could have an issue with the servo). With some tweaks, (new tires/wheels, wheel wideners, weighted front wheels, change of shock oil, shock spacers) I would give a slight edge to the Temper....in overall capability only. But to get the Temper to that point, you would need to throw ~$80-90 at it which puts it at ~$210 when compared to the Barrage at $179. Hope that helps....

2KRCBACKROADS I purchased the barrage yesterday and unfortunately I am having some issues with the servo ( it's not strong enough to turn the wheels when in a stopped motion) is there any replacement servos you recommend?
@2krcbackroads4218 жыл бұрын
The tires have a lot of grip, and the servo is fairly weak. I have noticed that when sitting still on carpet/high traction surface while turning it really taxes the servo. When I'm out on the trails or rocks, I don't have the same issue (I'm still running the stock servo in my Barrage). In my custom rigs, I typically run Savox servos...but they are fairly spendy ($30-150)...but IMO they are some of the best you buy. I did receive feedback from others in the hobby and they said that some Tactic and HiTec servos do fairly well for budget priced servos. Keep in mind the Barrage is a really light rig, so you don't need something with a ton of torque... Hope that helps....

i recently got one myself ive been hering about servo issues mainly it dying or staying in one direction so does anyone know the spline teeth of the servo it has so if needed i can by a new servo and mount it with minimal issues im still new to the hobby

I'm still running my stock servo, no issues so far. It sounds like it's a flip of the coin deal with the servo. Word on the street is Horizon Hobby is sending a replacement free of charge, no questions asked. I don't know much about the stock servo as I haven't taken the horn off, I would think there shoud be info online at Horizon Hobby or ECX. In my custom rigs, I typically run Savox servos...but they are fairly spendy ($30-150)...but IMO they are some of the best you buy. I did receive feedback from others in the hobby and they said that some Tactic and HiTec servos do fairly well for budget priced servos.
