Ed Asner Death Makes Betty White Last of ‘Mary Tyler Moore’ Cast

Tributes continue to pour in following the death of Ed Asner, who played the irascible Lou Grant on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.” He was 91. Like Mary Tyler Moore, Asner won seven Emmy Awards and appeared with Moore in the 1969 Elvis movie “Change of Habit." His passing has resulted in Betty White becoming the sole surviving cast member of the iconic sitcom. When the show said goodbye after seven seasons in 1977, cast members gave each other a giant hug. #InsideEdition

FOREVERRRRRRRRR BLESSINGS on Ed Asners soul and memory and his Widow, children & grandchildren. He was a FANTASTIC Actor of course, and portrayed one of the country’s most beloved characters on one of the country’s MOST beloved (if not THE most beloved) tv series but more importantly he was a GREAT humanitarian and PROUD Union supporter and LIBERAL!!! We DESPERATELY need millions more like him more now than EVERRRRR BEFORE. And I hope and PRAY, BIG TIME that the one and only Betty White is feeling at least o.k. If not better. However I fear she’s gone more-than-understandably downhill at 99 or 100, whichever age she is now. That’s why we haven’t heard from her in a long time.

This weekly show was such a part of our family in the 1970s along with medical center the original hawaii five o mission impossible all in the family and mash were CBSs great family sitcoms during the 70s golden era of tv its so sad again to see the passing of yet another MTM cast member I remember the beginning of this show as a small child in the early 70s until the memorable final show with the famous hugging scene in 1977 I can only imagine it was truly an emotional one for the cast because they were truly like a family spending 7 seasons together on this show and will be forever missed as one of the all time greats.
