Ed Bolian HATES the 6-Wheel Range Rover! I'm going to make him LOVE it!

‪@EdBolian‬ of ‪@VINwiki‬ fame has never hated a vehicle so much as the 6-wheel Range Rover. It was his dusty nemesis on Car Trek 10. On the other hand, I love the 6-wheel Range Rover and have now officially purchased it from Ed with the challenge that I can make him love it with a few modifications and fixes.
Watch as I make plans to upgrade the beast, and as we test it on a dirt hill climb and in a 0-60 test versus the mighty Cannonball Ambulance.

If you're going to convert it to a Chevy engine, convert the differentials to Dana's. Dana's have pass through pinions available for dual axle set ups

I think there is the way to use offset axles so you have 3 driveshafts going into 1 seletable transfer case with 3 sticks that can select high, low, and neutral for each axle. Put selectable Eaton ELockers in each axle so you have true awd / 6x6.

You need a through axle in place of the second axle.

That is an option. Articulation will be a concern. The axles are very close together.

What about electrifying the extra wheels? You could use two motors to allow torque vectoring and tighter turning. Plus it would add the power that you want and you could even let it run on electric only, like a PHEV.

Fuel pressure damper was also a thing on older Porsches

Some Fords (or... Mazdas?) had pulsators too, they just don't look quite like that. It's also extremely common to delete them on those vehicles. Source: The last '95 Escort I did a fuel pump on had one. 😂

I am interested to see which direction you go with the 6x6 drivetrain. A tandemdifferential would be the most straightforward option (splits torque 50/50 over two axles), since they are also used in similar semi truck drivetrains. As mentioned before, the distance could be an issue here, mainly because of the driveshafts.

I'd swap in a Rover 5.0l used in the TVRs/Marcos/Lichfield Land Rovers or a Jag 5.0l S/C just to keep it somewhat British 😊

Hello Ficarra, I don’t know how often you read your comments but I have a few questions and hopefully you can answer. My neighbor has an unrunning 1974 Porsche 914 LE, which from my understanding means Limited Edition, and I’m pretty sure they made only made 1,000. It comes with a unique bumber, rocker panel, and a 2 liter engine instead of the standard 1.8 liter. And really awesome orange wheels. I’m hoping that I can shrewdly negotiate a good deal with them and Purchase the car, but I wanted to know if you had any facts about them or if you even knew about them, thanks

The 4L80 will probably be the transmission, but it will depend on what adapter we get.
