I had the very fortunate opportunity to hang out with Ed Corney at Arnold Classics 99 for several hours. He was working a Jan Tana booth. I was 21 at the time. He and one of the ladies picked 2 people out the crowd to model and pose a new tanning solution. Anyway, I got to meet numerous competitors. Afterwards I sat with Mr Corney and got to shoot the shit about the "good ole days". The man had a wealth of stories! Great guy! Truly missed by many!

I am a 10x state bodybuilding champion. I was 55 when I last competed and won! That in compasses 30yrs! He is what the sport (healthy) was to be. I knew I would be a +200 bodybuilder so Ed then Zane were the roll models. I had the wonderful chance to meet and talk with Bob Paris. Gave me the best advise. Then I was him come off stage at an ARNIE show. Arnold gave him shit about not coming in bigger, he was clean. On camera he side to his face " I know what I find aesthetic" . There is a reason so many young bodybuilders are dying!

Every aspiring bodybuilder should absorb everything that Ed does with his posing because he was the best poser in the business and the drama he created is incredibly effective. And it's really great that even though as you point out Ed was not the most massive bodybuilder of his time he will be remembered more than People much larger than him because of his artistic approach to posing which is special.

just try and notice....the grace of body movement, is a gift...its something that one is born with. it can not be acquired, ungraceful people can improve but only a little. for example one can be more energetic and powerful in dance than michael jackson or hritik roshan but one cannot have the grace like these guys have naturally.

At 5-6.5 and 165 he was much like Zane and Dickerson. Later in the 80s and 90s he competed at 185 lbs, but I think he looked better at 165-170 lbs.

Great posing but yeah his physique is shit. Seriously I don't see any body in my city at the moment even in their twenties with a build that comes close to what he had in his 60's. I'm sixty myself and even when I was super setting back in my twenties I never had pecs or biceps like that. I would imagine he's got a pretty good shape to him today and he just turned 84 last Thursday.
