He is also a public speaker, coach, and remains grounded with regular returns to his roots at Bynea Cycling Club. At the start of 2021, the Discord community began, and plonked many of Ed's viewers in to a 350+ strong group of people that had many things in common. Not least wanting to explore the world and pedal their bikes faster!

UPDATE : On 18th Dec 2022, Tom Pidcock dethrones Ed Laverack on the magical Mallorca mountain setting a time of 22.46 with roughly 6.6wkg! The Ineos Grenadiers headed there with approx 10 riders during their training camp! The Pros showing us how it’s done! Put a smile on my face receiving that email!

To have done this is huge…one of the biggest scalp’s in Strava to take! To have ridden there and back too when you could’ve just used pin point focus on the KOM and no one would’ve thought it any less of an achievement! Some of my club were out for the 312 and also did the climb, around 4p minutes and then said this…. A classic climb well worth attempting when you’re out here. (KOM is 24 mins: 36 seconds…………Clearly by someone who is not human) - such an amazing job Ed,well done!

if the other cyclists would go roughly at the same speed, then yes it would help with drafting and pacing, but as Ed would have just blown past them, they become more of an obstacle than help. He even said that cars could have slowed him down on the hairpins, which just goes to show what a machine he is and how fast he gets up there

Fantastic job Ed! I did Sa calobra (solo) a few weeks ago and even early in the morning (thanks for the early start tip) there was such camaraderie among the cyclists along the climb and at the top. I chatted with a few younger English cyclists at the top and of course we talked about your recent heroic effort. I hope you keep that KOM for a long time.
