Oh yes he absolutely was. I have a personal fascination with the greats of our art and with the history of our art so presentations like this tend to dominate my vlog

I am a big fan of card magic, and so I appreciate Ed Marlo's work. Some do not like that he provides multiple methods for many of his effects or actions but rather should select the best method. I find it interesting to see how he approaches and thinks through an effect/sleight and the methods reveal that. I think that Dai Vernon has a deeper and broader experience with magic. He did perform professionally at an earlier point in his life in NYC with the Harlequin act and the private party circuit. I don't think he personally published his magic ideas, but it was his friends (like Faucett Ross, Cervon or Ganson) who helped to document his thinking, approaches, sleights and effects. Crediting him or seeing his name attached to the magic was not a motivator for him. His passion was in the joy of discovering, inventing, practicing and perfecting natural approaches to the performance of magic.

I really wouldn't know, you'd have to ask a real Marlo fan - someone who has read the bulk of his material
