Here's what I interpreted from this video: The girl has always had these preconceived notions of love, she understands it, she gets it, she’s capable of it but no one will love her back. She is someone so full of love, maybe too much love, but has no one to love her back. So she sets out to find it. She starts to literally build and create the kind of person she wants to love and when that’s not enough she goes out looking for it wherever she can find it. she becomes a cupid of some sort shooting down anyone before she even knows if they’re capable of loving her back. But her attempts fail, making her feel worse because everyone around seems to be finding the one thing she’s looking for without trying. She becomes greedy and is blinded by the false reality of love, believing that anyone can give it to her. she’s down and desperate, finding anyone and anything that can give her the “high” of love, turning to the grimy night time scene, where she “shoots” (stabs) everything. When all her attempts fail she is broken, done with finding love, it kills her she shoots herself believing that she’ll be by herself forever. but when she least expects it, Love finds her, literally awakens her and opens her eyes, and I think that's beautiful. Probably my favorite music video ever.

Evan McGuire I saw that, but a little bit different. The girl wanted the people to love, and she gave them love, but she realized she wanted to be loved too. She tries to drown it out, but kills herself after drowning in her sorrow. She's awakened by love, etc. Both interpretations were interesting, I think. It's a beautiful song.

No.6 Collaborations Project was only a fun side project, not guitar driven or had a tour. Ed''s next studio album 'Subtract' will be more lo-fi acoustic songs. Ed is happily married now, so doesn't want to be singing heartbreak type songs all the time.

a lot of people don't seem to realise Ed made No.5 Collaborations Project (2011) with UK rappers and grime artists when he was an unsigned artist. No.6 Collaborations Project (2019) was a fun follow up that he recorded while on his world ÷ tour, so Ed didn't deserve to be hated on and insulted so much because of it. (and then they wonder why Ed left social media again)... of course having songs with featured artists are going to be different than Ed's 3 solo studio albums Plus, Multiply and Divide. Subtract will be next. Ed also has lots of songs co/written for other artists or featured on other albums, which many people aren't aware about, which can be more like the 'old' Ed

She was very lonely and sad, looking for her purpose in life, until she discovered about "Love", how wonderful love is, HER WINGS REPRESENTED HER LOVE AND CARE, so she sets out to give love and help people find love, the ones she helped some found love and it worked well, others not so much, even so, at least they have/had loved which was better than not having loved at all, she became desperate and kept giving herself to just about anyone, but these people always end up loving someone else (hence the scene where she was stabbing people). Not having a love and not having someone love her back, made her feel life is not worth living, so she GIVES UP and STOPS LOVING, her death in the scene I think is more of a symbolism, when a person stops their own heart from loving or caring at all, or just gives up hope about finding love. In the scene when she was totally unconscious a man came into her life and finally made her heart BEAT again, and this time she sees him, and is a symbol for her loving him, him being the object of her affection. He caused her to live again. - That is my interpretation.

i can still vividly remember how it felt to hear this song for the first time. i used to listen to this constantly. i re-discovered it for myself after so long just yesterday. now, at age 26, a week before my wedding, i’m listening to this masterpiece again. the pain that i get when i was a teenager listening to this isn’t the same I feel now hearing it in 2023.
