I can honestly say that he is the only artist that can make me cry while singing. He is so amazing and his talent is so pure and raw. He may as well be heaven. How people can wing over him instead of listening to him I honestly don't understand. And those last two notes! Oh my God! He is so perfect it's almost not possible. I fact it's only possible because of him. It would be an honor to meet and sing with this amazingly talented man, so who ever gets that honor better be extremely proud of it! He deserves to know how much we love him.

I am a huge Leonard Cohen fan, and this song has become a staple of covers over the years. I have heard bad, I have heard atrocious, and I have heard covers that offend the foundation of this song. Ed Sheeran though, I feel kept the heart of this tune alive, in a style similar to Jeff Buckley, but with his own liveliness to his voice. I wish there was a better audio copy of this out there, so I could add it to my daily listening, along with Cohen's original and Buckley's cover.

Excellent comments Chris. To me, the key words in your review were "similar to Jeff Buckley." To which I'd add, but just not as good. I heard Cohen's original a while ago and thought it was "alright." I'm not a great fan of k.d. lang's version, so to me the Buckley version is the best, and the definitive version. I like Ed's work, but sometimes he comes across as too insipid and young for some of the songs he sings.

at the ed show i went to, you werent allowed to shout during the song, so to show appreciation, you were only allowed to sing along. basically, at the beginning of the show, he said "shut up or im not playing"

This was just at a festival where not everyone was there to see him necessarily. If he would have said "shut up or I'm not playing" most of the people wouldn't have cared because this was before he even released Plus. No one would have cared if this chubby ginger kid wasn't going to play for them. Even if his voice was (and still is) the most beautiful thing they had ever heard, they didn't care.

he's such a good lad! not just as a person but as everything else. I do love this boy, I mean LOOK AT THIS. he does what the hell he wants with any song and he makes it sound the best thing ever.
