Great video as always, Patriot. About a year ago i actually switched to a Rush 24 in black since lots of IT folks at my company (large relaxed corp environment here in phx) carry black swiss gear backpacks. The Rush 24 blends right in and allows me to carry what i need discreetly. Thx again for giving me more to think about!

Nice! The Rush24 has a ton of room and i suppose that a Rush12 might have been my second choice to the Flash22 if it looked less militaristic. Great that you can carry it and thanks for sharing your thoughts buddy!

Interesting point about how certain job cultures are more understanding than others to EDC items in general. I have to be careful with my knives at work. Earplugs are a great idea. Can't tell you how many times I've wanted a pair on hand. Will have to add that to mine. Great look at everything.

My edc plugs saved me when I went to the trap and skeet field a couple of weeks ago. Showed up without my electronic muffs and the clubhouse was out of plugs. Then I remember my edc!

Yeah I would say you were due for an update in this area. Changes in life will create a ripple effect in our edc so we need to make adequate changes. About a year ago, I adopted an even more minimal approach to edc while maintaining as much capability that I am good with. It was good to see some things here remain the same (tried and true) while also hearing you layout different options for other scenarios. All good stuff brother!

It's funny to come from a kit that's 8-10x larger and heavier but it's interesting to see that this smaller kit actually lives up the daily needs.... small repairs, scrapes or cuts, headache, slivers, etc. Thanks Campster! :)

When I moved into a more office role I bought a leather satchel (like the 1950's school ones) and have found to be perfect for both blending into the work environment, walking to the cafe for lunch or metro going to and from work in my suit.

Great thinking Gewyne. Yeah, that would be a completely low key look.

Great idea on "backlighting" the lighter for fuel levels. I have never thought of that. Also great idea of the mosquito head net. Bugs can make a trip unbearable and cause a person to make "hurried/unsafe decisions". Also good idea on the EMT shears. I carry them along with a small screwdriver and small pair of vise grips in my "knifeless EDC kit.

Thanks SJ! More to come on the Bic lighter in future vids. I even carry a head net in my binocular case now. It's just one more piece of insurance that I'll have one when I desperately need it. Sounds like you've got some of your own great ideas for a kit as well man! Thanks for taking the time to watch. Cheers!

Great to hear that DC! I'm the one who always wants the capabilities of a Disaster Relief Kit but by necessity have to squeeze things down to only the very most useful pieces. I'm still 'that guy at work' who has all the essentials when someone really needs something, from band-aids to blades or pens to pliers. It's nice to be that person because I love helping people! In fact, I'll bet most of us are the same in that regard, including you! Cheers buddy! :)

Great kit Patriot. Got som ideas out of it. I should do an EDC update as well, show my bag. I use the 5.11 rush 12. Good choice in bag there. I tried replacing it with a shoulder bag from Pentagon, but it was too heavy with my work laptop inside.

I just took a second job driving school bus, and I'm working on a list of things I can carry that won't upset people that are oversensitive to a small pocket knife lol! two thoughts for your edc. Some sort of CPR mask or mico-shield? Also, could the scribe also work as a window break? That could open a spot for something else, paint pen, another sharpie, etc. A lot of great info in this one, keep up the excellent work!

Hey Patriot, How do you carry the bag, by hand on your belt? Also as the weather cools, maybe some walkabout vids looking for raptors? Take Care
@Patriot36
@Patriot36 10 жыл бұрын
Hey brother! Well I carry it in a cheap plastic grocery bag or in a slightly more permanent Petco or reusable retail bag like the one shown. In the rare instances where I forgot a bag I wrap my hand through the belt loop straps and it sort of stays against my hand without clenching it. For anything longer than that, I'll attach to my belt on my left hip or small of back.

Great minds think alike. I use the maxpedition m2 waist pouch. What I have in it is different do to needs during the day I suspect. I see some of these guys that carry a pack (not small do to all the gear they claim they carry) and then they claim to carry a 1911 and two mags...plus a fixed blade. Please in a professional environment as some jobs require it won't fly. I like the two bag system. A good way to carry water, light jacket, food. Footwear can be a problem. It's hard to find good footwear that looks good and I can walk miles.

Another amazing video from the Patriot, thanks man! Have you checked out the Leatherman Rebar? It is scaled down Supertool. Still feels nice and robust but it is a little bit lighter.
@Patriot36
@Patriot36 10 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! Yeah, I've checked out the Rebar and really like it. I only found out that it had replaceable cutter blades about two weeks ago. It would indeed lower my EDC pack weight to sub- 2.0lbs being 3ozs lighter but money can be tight and I wanted to use what I had. Maybe for the next bonus!

You got it man and thanks for watching! The next vid should be up late tomorrow after 9:00pm or Sun. morning. Sportsman's Warehouse, Home Depot Hardware, there's also a steel version for more money but it's too heavy for this type of kit. The scribe is from Lowes.

Since you still use the rush 24, im curious if you've looked at the 5.11 moab6. We have very similar edc items due to work restrictions, but i carry the "corporate" friendly version of the moab6 (black, with no patches) it holds my wallet, keys, glasses, and a bunch if the stuff you have in your pouch, along with ipad mini and a few bottles of water, other than a bottle of water and the mini, the bag...stays in my office, and the stuff in my pockets basically the same as yours... (Except i carry both versions of the twitch for about a year and a half now) I use the TIER system from 5.11 to attach the moab to the rush so i basically have one bag if needed...but the moab remains my edc...we are allowed to have a gun in our locked vehicle and out of sight, so when i go to lunch, i just throw it into the bag (i dont wear a gun belt to work), when i return from lunch, i put the gun and mags in the console, and i head back in...weekends, i just add the gun (on me) mags, and larger knife...everything else stays in the bag....it is my man purse...on me everywhere...i am a manager of IT for a fortune 50 company, i often wear a suit, and i see execs every day and they see me with the moab, and never take a "tactical" look...in fact they call it my purse....and my VP now owns one, and he isnt into guns, knives, or anything...he says its cool cause it fits his work, and casual environments....(he said he LOVES it when he goes golfing!! LOL....i dont carry it as a "sling", just over one shoulder...just a thought. BTW, i love your channel!!!
@Patriot36
@Patriot36 9 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing that story ZH. It's pretty cool to know that the moab6 fits in with the suit crowd. I can see where it would appeal because it's so different, just like a really nice pen or something. Thanks for the support and encouragement man!

@Patriot36
@Patriot36 10 жыл бұрын
I did see both the new bodyguards! One's a bit older, without the laser and the other has the features of the updated pistol but with the addition of a Crimson Trace instead of an Insight. S&W has switched laser companies a couple of times now in order to help keep costs down.

Hello and sorry for the translation. set real but it lacks three things. 1 lataks gloves in the hospital and medetsinskoy masks as well as silica or silica-magnesium lighters
@Patriot36
@Patriot36 9 жыл бұрын
Anton, I have gloves and masks in my vehicle so have no need to EDC them. With regards to ferrocerium/magnesium/silica rods, they have a place in my extended stay backpack but not my EDC. The Bic lighter only requires one hand for use, produces an ultra-reliable flame rather than a spark, is compact and lighter weight.

Here is the tier system from 5.11 for the rush/moab: www.511tactical.com/rush-tier-system.html IMHO i dont feel like a bag can be "tactical" you can certainly make it that way, but it depends on the user....my college age daughter has so much crap attached to hers its funny...my middle school daughter as well...most of the population wont recognize the "tactical" thing unless they are interested in this world... Packs nowadays are designed for organization....its all how you carry it and the items inside...if i opened my moab, you wouldnt see the "survival" type stuff...its all tucked away into the inner pockets...the admin pouch has admin stuff, a streamlight micro, twitch II (not clipped) pens, highlighters and wet ones...the shoulder strap has my wallet, the glasses case has my mints, advil, and other smaller stuff i may need...the main pouch has water, and a small first aid kit, and chargers...but in the zipper pockets is my fire steel, duct tape, foil, ect... Back pouch has ipad.. So i guess my point is, its how you carry and what is seen if you open it to get a pen that makes it "tactical"...again, just my opinion...im a firm believer that each is his own, and do what works for you...i just like the verstility of the maob/rush and the fact that you can attach the get home bag (for me, the rush 24 is my get home bag and is always in my truck) to the edc bag, should that need arise...lol Ok, i will leave you alone...again, love the vids, and i appreciate you taking the time to make them!!!!

You Americans are so lucky that you are allowed to protect yourselves. In the UK, we aren't even allowed to defend ore homes from burglars. We can have an alarm system but if we can't afford one of those, we have no choice but to get burgled.

At about 14:50 I was thinking "Oh something unusual, a guy without bunch of knives and guns" But 15:00 "Ok, never mind" :D Seems more practical than I saw the other ones. Looks like you chose a way to carry items that you really need, not "put in bag everything you won't use, but looks cool" way.
@Patriot36
@Patriot36 9 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. Yeah, there may be nothing the matter with carrying a kit without a knife or defensive firearm. Living in most countries outside of the US even precludes it through bad law. Besides the issue of law, one is far more likely to use Advil or a nail clipper than a defensive handgun. The difference of course is that a headache usually wont kill you but a maniac who wants to take your wife and your car, will do so happily.

Great vid bro! I'm thinking about going camping next week on the rim, where would you recomend for open camping? I usually camp at a designated camp site near Woods Canyon lake. Now that the rain has tapered off its time to get outta town.
@Patriot36
@Patriot36 10 жыл бұрын
Nice! I just got back from another trip this week! Woods, as you know is about the most populated 10 square miles on the rim but there's a lot of cool things to do so it's a trade off. If you're looking to get away from everything, head to the area north and west of Knoll. Any east-west forest road off of those main arteries...137, 321, 145 will be remote. North of that general area toward the back side of Blue Ridge Res. will be the most remote, especially near the canyons. I spent 3 days back there hiking all over dodge and didn't see a human or a car. There's no cell coverage (at least from Verizon) and you're totally on your own, so have a triple redundant back up plan. Blue Ridge Ranger Station monitors an emergency channel which you can get and have their phone number just in case you miraculously have cell coverage :)

Hey JL, Maxpedition stuff is more expensive but it higher quality as well. You'll have to decide on size but they have a lot of different products. This one is a bit larger than the Fieldline.... www.maxpedition.com/store/pc/JK-1-Concealed-Carry-Pouch-Small-84p1954.htm You might also take a look at voodoo products since they're a bit less but still seem to have decent quality.
