The surefire stiletto pro really is the best flashlight. It has the longest run times, crazy bright and it doesn’t step down. I don’t understand why people buy flashlights that step down after 30 seconds.

Spyderco people said that Magnacut is pretty much a stainless cru-wear steel. Which makes it awesome, cru-wear is one of the best knife steels, i.m.h.o.

@@20alroco Larrin Thomas who developed it said his goal in making Magnacut was stainless 4V (very similar to Cruwear) which in my experience so far is very accurate to the performance you get.

@@20alroco I’m with you on CruWear. I have a ton of “better” steels in my collection but CruWear takes a nice low edge and holds that low edge nicely, and it’s easy to sharpen. One of the few steels that performs really well with a polished edge. 15V is my favorite steel at the moment but I’d rather touch up CruWear on a strop more frequently than sharpen 15V on occasion.

As someone who works in the racing industry its ironic to see someone else carrying the same stanley stagger tape measure, i also have the next size up for work and just edc stuff it stays in my bag but it has a clip so it can be mobile too.

@justified_edc as a tire guy I keep about 10 or 12 in a box under my desk because I lose them and my other team guys lose them or friends etc, I usually carry 2 with me to the track at all times. The next size up is the common size we all use in the shop and keep around

Is the defensive carry fixie for when you’ve shot all 18 rounds? Im playing devils advocate with myself trying to find any logical reasons to carry both. I mean I guess if you just don’t wanna carry a folder but holy burden of gear to carry. I used to carry a firearm but I really like to carry joints, so….

@@dinner_workingsly it’s not wise to introduce a gun into every self defense situation. If someone’s already on top of me/at contact distance, the last thing I want to do is draw a firearm that could be more easily wrestled away and used against me or accidentally discharged into myself. At those distances, I would much rather draw a knife and create distance to either run or get far enough away that it would be safe to draw and use my gun. There’s plenty of instructors and courses out there that teach this sort of concept if you’re interested in learning more. Another situation that a gun may not be the safest option is when there are lots of bystanders around, say a crowded room. I might not be able to safely discharge a firearm at someone without risking hitting an innocent person. In that situation a knife may be better than going empty hands against someone with a weapon who’s already in close proximity to you. So no, I don’t imagine any situation where I’ve emptied two magazines and then needed a knife lol it’s more about giving yourself options for different scenarios.

@justified_edc Fair enough. When I phased out of being as big of firearms enthusiast as I once was, I kind of lost that defensive mindset. There was a time I had the sheepdog mentality and thought along those lines. But now that weed is legal I’m usually packing a different kind of heat that wouldn’t jive well for me legally in combination with a firearm. Stay you buddy, we need people like you around 🍻
