Simple question: why is your phone timing still 8am - 12pm to get a hold of a rep that can actually help you. This is a pandemic. Hire more credible people and increase the timing ASAP. Make a call back feature so people don’t keep calling and cannot get through. This is 2020, Silicon Valley is in CA, get a company to build an app ASAP to help with an integrated online application to get rid of your 2-6 week mailing dinosaur system.

EDD said that the experienced EDD Specialists are on the phone from 8am to 12pm only to file claims and to handle complex cases. Then, after 12pm, the Specialists handle the millions of claims so the money could go out. The other line [phone] the representatives are brand new and are clueless about your specific claim. They could only give out very general questions. After waiting 30 minutes on hold, the nice rep on the general line told me to talk to a Specialist on the [phone] about the specifics of my claim but I've tried calling that line and could never get someone!

I can't get anyone on the phone. When I email, they don't answer the question correctly. I'm still waiting on benefits from March to now... and they didn't pay me the federal 600 extra per week.

The problem is they didn't send the 10 digit customer I'd number through mail. Can't log onto account without it to manage claim. Now you are forced to call.

@JOHN SMITH- the problem isn't the number of hours the Customer Service is available but rather the number of seasoned experienced EDD specialists. The general line [phone], there are specialists available after 30 minutes but they are clueless!

The unemployment systems all over the country were designed to be difficult to use. In CA you have to wait for a number by mail before you can access your account for instance. So when we needed to pump a large amount of money out to people, they couldn’t do it. It’s designed to give out the least amount as possible and make it a pain in the arse to boot.

I'm trying to figure out how to get back pay since the end of April. I'm still working, but only at 32 hours a week. The 1st Stimulus check helped out, but CA EDD is so messed up (and still only answering the phone from 8am to 12pm - that's BS.) it's probably not even worth it to collect for those missing days. I'm better off waiting for the 2nd Stimulus check. California is so damn quick to take money out of your paycheck, but when it comes to paying you back they make you go through so many hoops, questions and waiting periods they're essentially giving you the finger.🖕

they take out state disability only, not unemployment. the employers have a special account they have to put money into just in case they fire or lay you off. so technically unemployment does not come out of your check.

EDD sucks. With their 5000+ new hires has not helped in areas of simpply answering the phone. Ive called for 8 weeks now and nobody answers. Obviously im getting more and more frustrated and scared I'll never get paid once they do figure out what they're doing. I'm on the PEUC extension and I'm thinking they juat don't want to figure it out cause it has ALL become pandemically overwhelming. In the meaning time i try to get through to anyone who will just answer the phone instead if liatening to a 3.5 mins of repetative automation that just tells you in the end that your call can't be completed at this time and to hang up. Well as i said earlier I've been calling for 8 weeks.

The extra help they hire are just call center operator they are not “specialist” and they can help, I need a specialist I won my appeal on 7/26/2020 and just found out my account still on hold today 8/10/2020. Meantime my cell phone is going to be disconnected, and my car insurance is going to be cancel because I can’t pay it this month thanks to EDD canceling my benefit because of a 72.00 dollar error. I have not received anything since 5/17/2020.

This woman needs to be removed from her position ASAP along with the upper management at EDD. The entire EDD of CA needs to be audited, retrained, remove unqualified staff... this is exactly why government workers have such a bad reputation of being lazy and incompetent.

because they're hoping you'll just give up and leave them alone, EDD is notorious for purposefully making mistakes and their management telling their staff to do everything they can to keep from having to pay the people on it out.

I am still unemployed after 3 months with no money. I have gotten through a couple times in the last 3 weeks but need to be transferred to another department. After being transferred I have been on hold for a total o 10.5 hours. That is not an exaggeration . My case is under review. I have the documentation that answers the question they have but there is no way to submit the evidence. If your case is under review, you are absolutely helpless do help move things along. The real problem is that they gave unemployment to anyone who applied, including prisoners in the CA penal system. So now, if there is any question about eligibility, you will be waiting for a long time. Unfortunately, in the meantime I have spent all savings, lost my car insurance and cannot afford to buy gas to go to job interviews.

The more we don't get paid when help needed during sudden loss of job, the more they can keep for themselves! or that's how it feels like to me. They're so motivated to refuse to help me out, finding excuses that are not even based on truth. as a hard worker I suddenly lost a job and due to UI's inefficiency I'm in deep trouble and now no longer employable after almost 2 months of no work...

I filled on line in March, in may they send me a letter to verify employment I did send it in MAY they said they received it early June and told me to wait couple of weeks called back July 25 and I had been disqualified because they said they didn’t receive my paper work now I have to appeal UGH!!! Hello so I filed to do a backdate on my claim and I got an email back from edd saying "Thank you for your inquiry. Our records indicate that your request to backdate your claim is completed. Therefore, no action will be taken at this time". Does this mean I got approved?

This was 5 months ago and they are still not helpful. They hang up on you when they cannot answer your questions. Reapplying is a nightmare. Your UI online file new claim is as hard as getting through by phone. ID.me is not friendly. That system is horrible, I uploaded 20 times to start over again. I filed an appeal due to the representative at EDD made and error and I could not get a redetermination on something as simple as an error date their representative made. Now I must wait for a hearing.

What should I do If I filed for regular Unemployment but continue to be told that they can't find any record of me ever filing a claim on the date that I told them that I did. This was before COVID, after I was wrongfully fired from an employer who misclassified me meaning he made it look as though I had insufficient funds as a means to get me to have to take care of his tax responsibilities so that he could make more money while at the same time costing the Federal Government billions of dollars and ruining my life. After I filed the claim, I was given a confirmation number, was instructed to print the page for my records, was told my claim had been submitted successfully, was told I would receive mail, but I never did, and every time I have contacted E.D.D. about this, they pass me to someone else or have me get started on a new project that gets my hopes up, but only to find out that they sent me down a road that leads no where or only made my files more confusing for E.D.D. to understand. How come no one at E.D.D. knows how to look up a claim by giving them my confirmation number? A confirmation number is to prove I filed a claim. How come no one at E.D.D. knows what to do when i tell them the importance of them needing to investigate my claim I filed due to that employer breaking the law... E.D.D. is given grants to investigate, but instead is doing nothing and is basically enabling this employer to get away with a serious crime. Who can I talk to who actually cares enough to resolve this issue? I am more than happy and willing to do what ever I can, but I need to talk to someone who actually knows how to go about handling this kind of situation. I feel like I am the only one who has ever had this problem since not one in the entire year I have been contacting E.D.D. has been able to know the first thing about how to help me.
