It took me two and a half months of none stop calls to get through someone to help me with my claim and this was back in March. I had called from 8 A.M to 7 P.M. I wore my air pods so that I was able to do my laundry, cleaning and cooking. It was exhausting! But finally someone came through to help me. Sometime in May I had finally started receiving money. Even though this $600 will end soon for some states, please do not give up. Just like myself, I know that everyone else will be needing that little extra cash from EDD. Please, please, please do not give up! I know that it is frustrating and at times, I was in tears while I was making these phone calls but I know that someone will help with your claim. I did get rude people talking and then they would hang up but don’t give up because not all of these EDD people are bad. It is rare to get through to someone who will actually help with your claim.

It took me over 10 weeks to get any response from the EDD. But one day I finally received a call to apply to the PUA, after I sent them an appeal form. Then it took me another 3 weeks and got my debit card. You have to send appeal forms and call like crazy. Stay persistent!!!

Mom, tell your daughter not to give up. I am also a single parent and it took me two and a half months to get through someone. I was multi-tasking while I was making the phone calls. I know that someone will eventually help her with her claim.

So for the other few million to get edd to pay us our entitled funds, we all have Togo on tv for the funds. This is ridiculous. 99.99999 percent of us won’t be on tv. Seven on your side needs to apply this logic to all of us waiting for our claims

I was released June 4, 2020 after serving 26 years; sentenced to 30 years to life... I was infected with covid19 while incarcerated and prior to my release date because I was positive, I was left at a hotel for 9 days; solo. No one knew anything and no one reached our to me; not even my PO! But the BPH Commissioners knew I was ready (hints my grant) and I didn't fail myself! I tested positive again on June 16th- so my quarantine period was extended... But this time I was sent to transitional housing. I was retested at the end of June and tested negative thanks to the wonderful staff here at Cannon House. I got my licence on July 20th and my little sister gave me a car that say day... so to you recently released individuals- stay focused. One final thought; I couldn't have done any of this if I wasn't focused on success... and many individuals reached out to me during this time (my immediate family, Michele Tran, Scott Budnick, ARC Los Angeles, and a lot of my fellow recently released (es-lifers) friends; some even came from far to make sure I was okay and safe)... I downloaded the application and filled it out. Then downloaded a free fax app on my phone and sent my application about 15 times per day till I received a call back. It took 4 months of calls for me to take this approach and only 3 days to get a call after starting to fax. I recommend this tactic to anyone waiting for benefits!

It is no joke now. Some people are going to be evicted from their homes. The EDD must be functioned and worked for Californians. I've been sending emails to EDD since June 13 , and when they finally addressed to my first email on July 20th, they did not addressed the rest of my emails which I had more important things to say about not getting my payment. Loree Levy of EDD says to email EDD...well it isn't exactly assuring when it is a one-sided communication that had gone unanswered for over a month.

@@Dembae66 I am sure thousands of us are feeling abandoned and helpless when EDD unable to answer your phone calls 'at this time' all the time and your emails are not getting immediate reply. Just like trying to stay alive from the coronavirus pandemic, do what you have to do to get pass this. We are in so much disarray as a nation and some of us don't want to have any sort of discipline to fight the pandemic, I feel like each of us is fighting this madness alone.

Emails don't work. Your info had to be accurate and true. If you skip a beat, it'll be pending or rejected staying in a matrix of waiting period. You might have to refile, and ask someone to double check it that is computer savvy if you are not. There might be just a small hiccup in your info the EDD software is so ancient you might have to redo.. Also the power of prayer!!

@@ezombie13 Thank you for your advice Eileen. I got paid for the first two weeks payment 6 weeks after filing. Now, I am waiting for my next payment. I've been very patient about it because I see week after week people filing for unemployment never stopped. They do needed to fix their old system. They are aware of their system backlog. I am sure they are taking care of the problem as we speak. Thank you.

This is happening to me. At first received a letter saying i was awarded benefits, then a letter saying to look for my debit card in the mail. Two weeks later i receive a letter stating i was denied giving no specific reason i was denied covid benefits and an appeal form to be mailed in within 30 days of the mailed date. Problem is tge post mark on the envelope is 14 days prior to it being received. And to continue certifying for benefits but never received my account number so that i can even log into my account. What should i do?

My sister had her UI application approved May 28th and according to her account on the web site she now has 8 weeks of benefit payments pending but has not received any money yet. You cannot get through by phone and emails are not returned. I hate for her to rely on credit cards to pay some of her bills because her being out of work may cause the card company to lower her credit limit and demand a lump some payment to get under the new limit. The Governor keeps getting asked about the problem of pending payments but all he will say is they are hiring and training dozens more people at EDD. If there are millions of payments in backlog what will hiring even a thousand more people at EDD do?

I tried and tried and get no one on the phone I talked to the lady and she didn't give me no information because he said that I was given the wrong information to her but yes my social security card my my number where I live everything and still didn't get nothing I'm getting really upset I don't know what to do everybody that I know. There's except me and I don't understand why I feel for everybody out there that didn't get their checks because it's a bunch of crap I've been waiting a long time I said three months now going on for

Call this number. 8339782511. Before the operator answers and your phone reads 00:00, dial 1 six or seven times.if the operator answers hang up and try again. It should send you to a different line. This line will play music. Then wait to speak to someone. Hope it helps. Call between 8-12pm

EDD failed us big time, especially right now in the of hardship & uncertainty. I've used up all my saving, no jobs available. Whoever in charged of EDD should resign or fired. Don’t give up!!!!! Keep calling!!! The money is there and it takes one person that will process your claim quickly. Use your cell to call and have your boyfriend use his cell to call at the same time until you get through someone that it’s an actual EDD person who only works on the claims.

Applied in March on the 31st I was qualified and all of my certs are pending. I lost my job and haven't been able to pay any bills I am out 3 months on everything. The bull that I'm dealing with is I have to go to just duty, but edd can't proceed a claim California needs to work on this crap. You can't even call I've called about 400 times in a 2-3 hour period and can't even get an actual person on the phone.

I was denied my benefits they said because they couldn't show if I was seeking employment! Which was bull, I am a self employed housekeeper! If someone calls me to do a job I go! But because of this VIRUS my business has taken a major drop and standstill! I never received verification of my unemployment or anything, the a month and a half later they sent me a letter informing me that they didn't have me feeling out claims thing so how did they know if I'm willing to work. Well they never sent me anything and I tried calling, texting, leaving messages. It's like it takes an act of Congress to get ahold of EDD and as we can all see Congress moves slower then Moses thru the Promise Land!

I live in indiana ive been waiting for 6weeks to receive my benefits my claim is open, i have a eligibility issue which, unemployment customer service has told me that the a claims investigator may or may not contact me because of the issue is a common one and easy fix. I have so many bills i dont like answering my phone,, all i get from the unemployment office is i just have to wait, 6weeks this sunday is there anything i can do to speed up process

I applied for benefits in Mar 27th and I got an error message. I reapplied end of May successfully this time. Then I received a letter by mail to verify my identification. I mailed in the required documents. I emailed EDD for my Customer ID number which I finally received by mail. I logged in and I got an error message and I emailed them about it and I still haven't received a penny as of July 27. I was called back to work as of May for 5 hours per week on Fridays. Thanks God I am on food stamps and I have section -8 housing. I'm 55 and I still have hope that I will get a response one day

I'm having trouble with EDD now because they sent me an email saying send in documents to verify my address. When I filed for EDD I was homeless. I have been stuck with the same problem with the EDD I received a letter granting me PUI and a letter denieing me PUI with an appeal attached telling me I had 30 days to appeal but appeal what it didn't give a reason why so I sent in the 10 certification and wrote the appeal for what I don't know the UI will bless me won't let me into my account and the phone numbers all-day the same thing can't take my call very frustrating. @@kimoni6 I was getting UI before all of this craziness and exhausted by March, so I didn't have the issue thousands of people are having. By the time everyone applied mine was over and I started to work part time but EDD automatically reopened my claim due to the CARES Act. I'm not sure what folks are doing but I have helped a few people file in the past 2 months and they all have gotten their issue in the matter of 2 weeks. And this is all done online, never having to speak to anyone.

I'm pregnant with 3 children. I've been trying to contact them for so many months and there has been no luck. I have a child who is autistic and it's been rough.. I was approved but never recieved my money but, then was told I was disqualified for no reason. I've sent emails saying I would receive a response but nothing. I have been pending for 10 weeks. Can not get a hold of anyone and I have called every number possible for over 8 hours a day for the past 2 weeks. I am about to have my car repossessed! I need help with unemployment too. One time I finally got ahold of someone. I got paid the 2 weeks they owed to me. And he said that I should have any more problems. Well the weeks I was paid for was the week of June 13th and the week after that. They owe me 6 weeks now. Now to make more things Difficult and with probably confuse eed. I was in a motorcycle accident and was in the hospital for a week. So now I need to change my unemployed to disability. I'm completely Broke.

I was disqualified as of my initial claim in April. There was no reason given and no communication from EDD. I have called hundreds of times a day and like everyone else. I have sent emails to EDD and also been informed that I would be contacted back. This was also back in April. I have never talked to anyone and my issue cant be solved by the automated system! I have also contacted my Congressman and Assemblyman for the past month with NO results as well. I have not worked since March and have NO income. This is ridiculous.

Same with me. Was going to start a new job March 16 was notified they have a hiring freeze. Than another job late April can't hire you yet. Called, wrote, emailed contacted edd daily. Got no where. All the while people all around me that have not worked ever are receiving 6000. 12000. For pandemic I just want to reopen my claim. This is our state at its finest. So rediculous. Why pay into it if it's never available??? The one that received 12,000. Hasn't worked in 4 an half years. Wow,!!!!!

If you had work share program previously with EDD it closes you out for getting the pandemic fees. So tell them when you contact them to remove wework share program

The EDD have not paid me benefits yet and I'm in need so I can make it home. If it wasn't for my uncle taking me in his home I would be homeless due to this EDD not paying me. My benefits still stuck in pending, my phone is cut off I can't call them. I keep sending emails they don't respond. I'm in need of help because I'm nowhere where my money is at. This is such BS. My benefits are pending. I've tried to call numerous times and get hung up on. I've literally called over 1000 times, and sent emails. I got through once 3 weeks ago after over 100 calls in one day. The agent said that she would have a supervisor call me gave me reference number...but guess what.....??? NO ONE CALLED ME BACK. Also during my phone adventures I would periodically get connected to a phone message from a foreign country... the language sounded like Chinese. So I have no trust in EDD or this woman. It seems like a scam on Americans. 😡😡😰

I lost my Id I went today to get a replacement at the dmv so now I have to wait before I can send a copy of my documents to get verified to receive my benefits I tried calling but some lady at EDD said she couldn’t give me an extension?:/ welp :/ am I going to get my benefits denied ? It’s been over 10 days since I got the Id verification papers in the mail

My son sent in his right after it was declared convert 19 by President Trump he has not heard one thing from EDD in California he works on the California side and lives on the Nevada side. Which would have nothing to do with drawing he is self-employed and should receive every penny. He is sending two claims one by mail and one bike email which you cannot answer the questions properly they are not asked in the proper way. This is a joke

We live in San Bernardino county and we have tried for weeks. Calling 700 to 800 times before 12:00 5 days aweek and more than that on the 8 to 8 line. On that line the problem can't be fixed so you are given an appt call to be called back in up to 3 days which doesn't happen from EDD itself. My grandson and grandaughter who have an 18 month old have been disqualified when he should never have been can't seem to get that's answer of why. When it shows available benefits. But he was disqualified the alternative number tells you. I keep seeing stories from EDD and what she keeps saying is not true on getting help. It should not take 7 on your side to get this fixed.

What's crazy is that people are making more on unemployment than they do if they were working. What about those of us still working, not making extra while so many are staying home...where is the fairness in that? Where is the incentive to work through this pandemic????

If you lost your job you should definitely be getting benefits but you should not be making more money than you would have been at your job! So many people are not going back to work because they make more money sitting at home on their asses! If you're not one of those people I sincerely feel for you and I hope things work out for all of you

So many people are also not going back to work because their industry like restaurant, bar, travel, and hospitality is devastated and the businesses are permanently closed. Oh yeah, there's also this covid-19 thing... y'know that has a 5% chance of killing you if you are exposed. You're going to be resentful of people that receive unemployment? The $600 fed booster goes away today. How long do you think people's unemployment money will last after trying to take care of clothing, food, and shelter? And what about those whose unemployment (with the $600) is still less than what they earned at work? Is it okay then that their unemployment doesn't cover their income 100%?

Obviously, here in CA, those of us who work in the service/hospitality industry aren't able to work, especially if that's the only thing we're qualified to do. However, there are other states where restaurants are open, but employees aren't going back unless they get a raise, especially since noone seems to tip for takeout... That said, those people are complete idiots, since UEI benefits will end, and with everyone scrambling to get a job, it's going to be that much harder. I'd personally rather take a minimum wage job, for part-time hours, just so I can have something reliable come November, when this all ends...

@@xamyx2205 I don't know if all states allow this, but in California you can get partial unemployment insurance (UI) if you have reduced hours due to covid-19. So, a restaurant employee with reduced hours (not reduced pay but same hours) could received reduced paycheck, and receive UI payment. The paycheck you receive has to be very low ($200/wk?) but if you may be eligible for the federal boost.
