I already bought a 2nd pair of the Hyperion 2 (and already had the Hyperion Max 2 which is still going strong). Two individuals who are testing the Hyperion 3 swear it’s their favorite shoe of all time, so I’m looking forward to that one as well as the possibility that the Elite 5 may finally be a marathon shoe I can embrace.
@alexgener430918 күн бұрын
I totally agree with Asics as brand of the year. What's missing in your roster of Asics shoes is the Tri Noosa 16. A very underrated but phenomenal shoe. My most improved is Brooks. Normally, I'd skip the Brooks section in a shoe store, but after having loads of miles on the Hyperion 2 and the Glycerin Max, it's back on my radar, since the Brooks "Pure" line. But overall, a very gratifying video as usual. Danke schön!

Agree about Brooks. I quickly discovered the Pure line when I started running and ran my first marathon with a BQ in the Launch6 since the Pure line disappeared by then. But then I moved to other brands (Saucony and Asics). I’m now loving the Hyperion2 and Hyp. Max2 but very much looking forward to possibly switching to the Elite 5 as a future marathon shoe. Also, two Brooks testers have told me the Hyperion3 is their favorite shoe of all time! And my running store friends who went to TRE and got advance pairs are loving the new Launch so I’ve ordered it.

New to your channel and this is a very interesting take on the New Balance lineup. I think for more advanced/experienced and semi elite runners the offering may not be up to par in terms of performance but I do want to point out that a lot of newer runners especially those who prefer comfort and soft bouncy feel, we really like the NB brand. I am almost always leaning to wear the 1080 or the more v5 for my daily training. The SC elite v4 is also not super aggressive and is great for those first time marathon runners like myself. Just sharing. Thanks for your reviews.

My top picks have been the Brooks Hyperion 2 and Hyperion Max 2 and the Hoka Mach 6 which I’ve alternated with the Hyp Max 2 as a long run shoe but also used for just about anything. I went through 2 pairs of the Mach 6 already. My marathon shoe was the Endorphin Pro 3 (bought one of the last pairs made of those to take me through CIM a few weeks ago and upcoming Boston) after preferring it to v4. I still have 2 pairs of Takumi Sen 8 in good condition for 5K/10K and could probably use them up on a HM but not sure if it would be ideal. I’ve been more marathon focused lately than short distances.

I have trained for a marathon using STRYD Marathon plan and ran my 2nd fastest marathon. To get accurate intensities in workouts you need to do CP (Critical Power) tests (3 min and 12-20 min domain all out efforts) and keep your PDC up to date. One thing not to do with STRYD: Don't ever change your Stryd weight setting. If you change, it will invalidate your CP setting. So, set it and forget it for the most part. Yeah, there is a bit of learning curve when using STRYD. Steve Bateman's "Running with Power, The Basics" is a good book for introduction (although it is quite repetitive on some thing). I think Adidas also needs an honorable mention. IMHO SL2 is IMHO the best value in daily trainer in the market. Supernova Prima is also a decent shoe. Takumi Sen 10 was a good evolution. We also got Adios Pro 4, EVO SL and Adios 9. I guess the impact of the last 3 shoes will be felt more in 2025.

adidas should stop setting records and stepping to the top of podiums. The brand not only delivered the goods with the SL2 daily trainer but it did limited draws for the EVO SL which is a 2025 shoe. The brand also began early rollouts of the Adios 9 and Adios Pro 4 (keeping the promise the Adios Pro EVO 1 would inform the next gen of adizero). Finally, the brand went back to clear separation of each option in the range. 20 more years, I guess. NB had a good showing at the Summer Olympics. I wonder why that didn’t trickle down to non-elite. ASICS has been consistently improving since 2019/2020. Nike has been oddly quiet this year. The brand still seems to be too heavily relying on Jordan brand. ✌🏽💙👟

I think the Adizero line up will smash it this year. The Adios 9 is my pick for crossover shoe for leisure and running. It’s not left my feet last few days. Aside from in bed. 🤣👍🏼

It had to be ASICS. Easily best brand of the year. The most innovative and consistent brand by far. Honourable mention for most improved brand should be Mizuno. Mizuno has also really started to turn themselves around in a good way.

I'm a bit disappointed, Puma dropped a lot of bangers in 2024. 1- Fast-R2 2- Deviate 3 3- Deviate elite 3 4- Magmax 5- Velocity 3 6- Fast-RB 7- Forever Run That's one of the best "if not the best" year's in Puma history when it comes to running shoes. They deserve to be on the list.

Forever run was out in 2023. Fast RB wasn’t great. I didn’t event score it! Magmax didn’t work for me and wasn’t superior to the velocity 3. Deviate 3 was too close to the deviate 2 for me to score it that high. Liked the deviate elite 2 and r2

Going shock you edd but I didn’t like the sky Paris 🤣 I just do not like ff blast turbo or turbo plus . The foam is too firm for me and there isn’t enough sink and bounce Compared to puma deviate nitro elite 3 or alphafly 3 it feels dull and life less I also do not like ff blast plus eco 🤣 so pretty much rule asics out for me I used to love the Novablast 2 and the ff blast foam

It’s super squashy. Amazed you didn’t get on with it! Glad the Puma works for you

@@EDDBUD sounds like you’re describing a completely different shoe to what I experienced 🤣. But everyone also loves the superblast and I didnt like that either for the same reason I didnt like the sky Paris Maybe its just be I’m quite often puzzled when people say a certain shoes or soft and I just don’t feel it. maybe it’s just because my foot strike is forefoot/midfoot 🦶 Or maybe it’s how we each define squashy For me thats foams like ZoomX or that fuel cell that was in the sc trainer v1/v2 or the new puma Nitro elite foam

Wish I would have bought the Cielo instead of the Endorphin Pro 4 last year...the endpro4 does not feel "super" to me at all.

I love Asics, but they try their best to make me hate them. Asics seems to hate Canada in particular. My complaints come from both casual and running shoes. Like how you mentioned some New Balance are priced higher in the UK, the same is happening with Asics and other countries outside of US or Japan. There's like some random 20-30% spike in price. It's not based on silhouettes, but instead the colorways. It's just weird. They are also region locking many releases to a single (or handful of) countries making them much harder to get (never Canada). As for running shoes, barely any release of the Superblast 2, which sold out immediately. Also all running shoes have launched later than all other countries. Canada will only get 1 CW of the Novablast 5... and I state "will get" as it still has not released in Canada with no word on when it will.

Disagree about the traction of the NB5! I’ve been using it for the past week on damp pavement and it’s been terrible! Really disappointed

Idk why any UK person would ever buy New Balance at their price points. I like New Balance but I live in the USA.

I had been wanting a pair of Rebel 4s all year and finally bought a pair in November. They are not a patch on the 2s which I owned before. I would swap my 4s for another pair of 2s.
