Very true. True Title holders can demand higher pay or UFC has to choose between continuing to delay a title fight or strip the title and have non-lineal knockoff championship. So they create interim title to pressure the lineal title holder into a fight or at least fool the public into feeling like the interim title winner is more like a lineal title holder.

An "Interim Title" is something provisional, the purpose is to put pressure on the real champion to do what the company wants. In essence is a lie, a fourth place medal.

An organisation like One was badly needed in the MMA world. Now a lot of the high level UFC fighters have a legit alternative to move to where they’re treated with the respect they deserve. I think we’re going to see a lot more high profile signings to One in the coming months and years. I’m wondering if GSP will sign with One. Eddie doesn't have his facts straight. Interim title fights DO come with a significant pay increase. Kevin Lee went from 44/44 to 250k to show (he didn't win) for his interim title fight against Tony. Tony went from 56/56 to 250/250 for interim title.

The problem isn’t really the interim title it’s the match making system. How else is a division supposed to progress is every fighter just wants a title shot? Get rid of a title and make a points system (or something similar)

I love watching Eddie fight. He's one of the great, under-appreciated fighters. He's sometimes fallen victim to not being the smartest fighter, however. He's kicking himself, I know, that he didn't try to take Conor down in their title fight. He might still have been LW champ (until Khabib got ahold of him). Twice against Porier, he was getting his ass beat, only to fight his way back. He had both fights in hand when he made a bone-head illegal move. Granted, I don't think he should've been stood up in the second fight after the 12-6 elbow (especially since it didn't cause any damage), but it still changed the course of the fight. He's got so much experience, and he's so talented, he should fight smarter.

He is not bum and Conor would have not beaten the rest of the top 5. Everyone thought that he would run through Khabib and that was a mauling.

I respect Eddie as a fighter, and I think ONE is probably the world's best MMA promotion when it comes to paying its fighters, but let's be real about interim titles. They are not championships. They're next-in-lineships. The UFC didn't create them to avoid paying fighters. They've been a thing for a long time and they don't mean you get paid the big bucks, in the UFC or elsewhere.
