My Mum was OBSESSED With Eddie cochran through-out my childhood and as a kid I honestly didnt get it - he was a bit before her time too so it all seemed very dated to me...ok I get it now Mother - what a beautiful boy he was :) x

eddie never could quite get that elvis hip swivel but you could tell he knew it too but had great fun trying it and the laughter at his own expense whenever you saw him do it just showed the kind of guy he was god bless you eddie and i feel so sorry for you americans who never knew they had a rock and roll genius but we sure knew one when we saw one long live eddie and may you rest in peace cause now there are 5 stars shining brightly above

This is so funny. Reminds me of "cotton vacation," at our school. Did anyone else have cotton vacations? I don't know about anyone else, but I lasted maybe a couple of days out there. It was not easy.

And likewise Elvis copied everyone else, great as he was he was not original. Eddie had two things Elvis never had firstly he created a whole new way to play guitar, secondly his great song writing ability. As great as Elvis was he created nothing apart from the Teen Idol, musically he followed and adpted no more.
