Great interview, cheers Tommy. Suzy is a delight; reckon she's more a philosopher/historian to the core, and that is what makes everything she does so emphatic and wonderful. She's also rather correct about people, and losing your parents, esp. your mother, and how that has an effect on relationships and friends after that - it's very hard to ever really trust yourself, or others, again.

That's not true though, is it? If he just sat there with a glazed expression and hardly said a word people would soon go off him. He's talking realistically here about improvisation, which is good, because Stewart Lee (way back in the 1990s) talked about his thing of going 'errrrr' all the time, which made it seem like he'd just thought of something that he'd actually written and rehearsed. If people were honest, they'd admit that a lot of their love for him was really their projected fantasy of being so 'spontaneously' and 'effortlessly' funny with their friends. I still think he's really funny, but it's just good observational humour, and that should be enough.

@EireForUs Because Tommy obviously doesn't have a problem with accepting Eddie as they are and not judging. Eddie or Suzy, I don't care. What does it matter. They're a person, a human being. NOT a thing. Please don't refer to a person as a thing. That's such a disgusting attitude and hateful. I love Eddie, and always will. I don't care how he or she wants to presents him/herself. I don't give a shit how someone looks and how they dress. If they're a decent, lovely person then that's all that matters. I went and spent my money to go and see Eddie live, just this week. She looked fabulous, was intelligent and funny as hell. Eddie, has tons of friends and supportive fans and does a lot for charity And raises tons of money for charity. You live your life, and don't worry about what other people are doing. There's no need to judge or be rude about them. If you don't like Eddie, then don't watch and don't say anything. It's really simple.

As a woman, I love myself enough to have boundaries. Having boundaries is not hate. Eddie is a man. Every time he enters a single-sex space for women, he crosses a boundary. Women are not here to validate your "girl mode" that you can slip in and out of. Women's spaces are single-sex for a reason and it is not our duty or burden to cater to the whim of your feelings, because you surely don't care about ours. Use the gents, no matter what you're wearing.
@peterlarkin7623 ай бұрын
100%. I can't believe we have to even remind ourselves of this basic common notion of respect and boundaries between men and women. That said I do not think Eddie has been said to or admitted to using female spaces. Eddie doesn't claim to be a biological woman at all. In fact I'd say he's on Graham Linehan's side. Hope so anyway.
@willslingwood3 ай бұрын
Defining a woman based on the genitals she had at birth is creepy, misogynistic and straight out of the patriarchal toolbox. Have a look at your life Connie, seriously, look at it and suss out for yourself who it is who is causing you suffering. I’ll give you one hint: it is NOT transgender people.
@stephclitheroe25652 ай бұрын
"Women's spaces are single-sex for a reason". This is true in a minority of spaces. Public toilets, where there are individual cubicals, are not one of those spaces. The reason there are "men's" and "women's" cubicals is due to societal norms, not for safety reasons. If it were, you wouldn't get unisex toilets (ever noticed that disabled toilets are always unisex?) If I'm in a queue for a women's toilet and can see there's no queue for the men's, I will use the men's, because quite often the only difference is a sign on a door.

Video should be deinterlaced (or better yet, shot in progressive mode to begin with) before being uploaded to KZbin (or any other "digital" platform). Neither computer monitors nor phones are designed for interlaced video, you just get jagged edges whenever things move. Also, it seems this was shot at 25 frames per second and then (badly) converted to 30, so the result is that there's motion jerkiness in addition to the interlacing artefacts. Really should hire someone with a clue about video processing / post-production to make sure the video files work properly on KZbin. It only takes a few minutes to get it right, but you need to know what you're doing.

I remember he also cautioned people who were too quick to mindlessly jump on the hate-wagon against J.K. Rowling. One of few. I didn't hear anything else from him on the subject, but he seemed like he was being level-headed, unlike most of Rowling's detractors and didn't want to immediately tar and feather her with charged labels that still don't stick to this day. The fact she was also vindicated in her worries about restroom safety is just a plus. She only continues to be a villain for those people who are too entrenched in their activism, who want to be supportive good allies so much they still rally behind vitriolic mouthpieces and will readily eat their own if anyone even slightly disagrees with them. Which is why it seems like Eddie is maybe keeping his head down, because he can see the irrational rabidness of the mob-mentality that has taken hold of many within the movement, and which makes any attempted discourse around trans a venture onto a minefield.
