I met him in Detroit a few years ago it was by far one of my most memorable and favorite, special encounter ever! He was wonderful! The story is too long to elaborate, but we had a drink he kissed me on the cheek, invited me to the show that night! He is a beautiful gentleman! Love Him always!

Mr Eddie LeVert must feel like half of his 💜 heart and soul is gone first Will Powell, then Gerald and Sean, and finally his partner throughout his career Mr Walter Williams, he must feel very lonely, I do too first it was my grandmother and mother, then my baby sister and older brother, then my childhood friend, now I'm all alone! I know how he feels, you want to hang out with your partners now they're gone, it's very lonely now, very empty!

That summed up the interview perfectly Many soul. enthusiasts considered Gerald Levert the greatest soul singer of his generation by a mile. The only musician with 4 No 1’s on Billboard charts in a single year. God rest his soul.

My mom met him in Philly back in the day. She got off the El Train and was going into Wanamaker dept store and he held the door for her. She said thank you and,then she said my eyes got big and started smiling. He smiled that classic Eddie LeVert smile back at her and that was a moment in time she,said she'd never forget😌

This is why we should love, appreciate and celebrate one another, while we're steal here. Because, it's inevitable, that one day, we all will transition over. God has really touched this great man in a mighty special way. To have lost , not one. But two sons so soon. God , continue to keep him strong and uplifted in spirit. The song Wind beneath my wings and I'm already missing you are my two favorite ones, they did together till this day in 2022.

I used to catch the Ojays every year. In Baton Rouge Louisiana, Ojays opened for Luther. In Luther's early days as a single artist. My teenage daughter wanted to see Luther, whom I knew nothing about, and I, of course wanted to see the Ojays. At that show Luther was have a problem with the promoter and being the Ojays being the consummate performers that they are did a full show. I've never been to an Ojays performance where they did not come through. God bless them

first of all, I am a HUGE!..and I mean, HUGE fan of Eddie and his guys, The O'Jays. Sometimes I pull up these videos of The O'Jays, and their early appearances on Soul Train, when they exploded in the 70s. And in every one of those performances, they just refused to lip-synch. So, what got was like a quick concert right there in the studio. For me?...there is no better 3 man group, than the O'Jays. And its not one of these groups where the lead singer is the dominant singer, per say. Walter to my mind, was Eddie's equal...neither was better than the other. Eddie's baritone mixed with Walter's tenor, was just pure magic. And then in the early days, you had Walter Powell's bass and Sam Strain's tenor, holding everything together like glue. We wont get another group like the O'Jays..because it must be so hard finding voices like that, to make into a group. I once heard Eddie Levert say, some time after his son died, "when I got the call that he had passed, it felt like somebody snatched all of the bones out of my body...and I just crumpled to the floor where I was standing". And I actually cried, as I heard him say it, on some radio interview...because I cant think of a better way to describe what it must feel like to lose a child so suddenly. Eddie nailed it, in my opinion.

The record company said that Eddie and Gerald sounding so much alike would be a problem. They didn't realize that them sounding alike is exactly what fans want to hear...Father and Son
@omoniyikaye2 ай бұрын
The record companies were ignorant I was glad Gerald went on to create his own legacy and legend he brought out his dad from semi retirement and helped him to extend his father career through the father and son projects and unforgettable shows. Gerald was the hardest working dude in the business. We missed him like no other. God rest his soul 🙏🏿
