A live taping of the rock and roll concert by Eddie Money and his band at the Agora Ballroom in Ohio. I believe this is from 1979. Some wow and flutter from the old VHS tape but still a nice nostalgic look back at one of rock's most notable singers.

Haha I’m 62 so I have you both beat. I remember this taping like yesterday. It was my senior year in high school. This was taped at the Cleveland Agora on east 24th. For several years one of the local television stations in conjunction with our great radio station, WMMS, would tape shows and show them on a Saturday night from 11:30 until 1:00am. They showed some awesome shows. Todd Rundgren, Ian Hunter, Hall and Oates, Wet Willy, and more. All national heavy hitters. The Agora was relatively small. Held maybe 600-675 comfortably. Saw many acts there. Unfortunately it burnt down around 1984. It has since located to Euclid ave. Not the same. Much bigger venue. I will never forget the Cleveland Agora on 24th. So many memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life!

My favs by Eddie are Shakin' and Baby Hold on to Me. I don't know if I can go deep into his albums but the guy's charisma, gestures, mouth movements, and overall performances are top of the heap and deserve Hall of Fame. And he really went out to show love to his fans. Joan Jett in the Hall and not Eddie? A good song by Eddie is Walk on Water but Eddie regrets writing it. "Everybody really likes 'Walk on Water,'" he said, "and I hate singing 'Na na na na na na na na na. I feel really silly singing the song, but you gotta go out there and do the songs that they love. [Sings] Na na na na na na na na na. I mean, come on. You try doing that for 30 years in a row. It's not even a lyric. It was supposed to be a horn part, but the horn player never showed up, so I had to do it with my mouth."

@@1978soloalbums Eddie was, yeah... Most of the shows were. Lessee, Cheap Trick w/ the Dictators and Cheap Trick opened and blew them off the stage. A band I worked with called American Noise with a band called Blue Angel opening. It was Cyndi Lauper's band and she arrived sick as a dog, spent preshow bent over a vaporizer and went out and also paved the place. Springsteen, The Raspberries, Southside Johnny, I'm pretty sure Lou Reed did, the Runaways, Big Country (an interesting story behind that one) and a whole lot of artists got their start there in the '70s and early '80s. i.pinimg.com/originals/2e/e8/92/2ee8926ad3f8512fc9c2b209bcdb6233.jpg

I had the pleasure of seeing Eddie Money in concert so many years later it was so wonderful to actually dance to his music and have him actually seeing me dance instead of dancing at home by myself like I did when I was younger and he had his daughter up on stage with him and she can sing as good as her dad. After his concert he had photos of him and his daughter that people could buy and he would sign them right in front of you, he was an easy spoken person and you could tell that he loved his fans. I went to high school in the early 70's with the younger brother of guitarist Jimmy Lyon (blond guy playing the Strat), Jimmy used to come home and threaten to beat the crap out of us for messing with his gear. He was actually a pretty cool guy and he showed me how to play some licks. He remembered me years later when I had moved to Portland and he set me up with free backstage passes at a gig they were playing in Portland. One of my all time fav's from their catalog is 'Gimme Some Water', never gets played on the radio but it's a great rocker. Great band, loved Eddie's music. RIP Eddie.

Jimmy Lyons was the reason Eddie's first 3 albums were his best, in my opinion. The solo on "In love again" and guitar work on "Get another girl" from the first album are awesome. Also the guitar solo on "Nobody" from the second album shows what an underrated guitar player Jimmy Lyons was. Love that straight forward good time rock and roll. RIP Eddie 🙏 🤘🏻✌🏼

My first Eddie Money concert was just a few weeks before this on March 1st '79, warming up for Santana and a band called Sad Cafe warmed up for Eddie. I got to see him many times over the years and he and his band were always just as jamming and rowdy as any band they played in a festival with, even Carlos and that's not easy. I saw him at least 5 times once on the acoustic tour. He had such a good heart and spirit-in the old days people could party hard and still be good at times. The unique soul and voice and spirit he had is a thing of the past sadly. Absolutely the good man is in Heaven with his friends. Never heard a bad word said about him, his concerts, or his talent. Good man!

I feel lucky to have seen Eddie back in 1989 when he toured with Cheap Trick on the Lap of Luxury Tour. He gave it his all on that night and it was s shame he didn't get to play a little longer as the opener, but the fans loved him.. Was hoping to have seen him again after that, but I never got the chance. Sad he is gone, but he lived well and didn't disappoint any night he went on stage. Thanks for posting this early concert of his, so many great songs by an underrated performer. I always considered him the "hardest working guy in Rock "N Roll" Thanks for the timeless music Eddie.
