Eddie was one of the only country singers i like. he seemed to step outside the norm of singing about grandpa drinking beer on the back porch while uncle bob was working on the farm (include thick cliche accent) He made it feel real. if only country artists today took more to his side of things

My father-in-law drove a big steel truck and worked for the Teamsters Union. He had to drive the truck into center city Philly where some condos were being built and deliver the steel to that job site. It's very hard to find street parking in center city, but he finally managed to park the truck. Wouldn't ya know, along comes a cop who tells him he has to move the truck. I had to laugh when my father-in-law told me he told the cop "that ain't no Volkswagen."

Hehehe. Sounds like a few truckers that used to come into the c-store where I used to cashier. They're good people - give you the shirt off their backs if you need it. My dad drove for 30-some-odd years and my earliest memory was riding with him. He never hauled OTR though, only within the state, so he was home every day.

Good video. Nice for the lyrics to appear begore the song actually songs them if you are trying to sing along and don't know the words unlike in other videos. The only issue is that at 1:15 the lyrics are pop me down, Jack me up, shoot me out flying down the highway Not "heading down the highway"

it dont mean nuttin numb nutz! Its the words in the song! If itwerent for these truckers that are willing to push that extra mile you wouldnt have anything in your home! And yes, I am a trucker for over thirty years with 3.5 million miles under my belt with no accidents or tickets!

Dennis Michael they have no idea what the world would be like without truckers. my dad has 28 years as a trucker and the second generation and one that isnt just in it for the money because the way I look at it Truckers are like the army of the highway, they drive when its to dangerous for anyone they put their lives at risk so people can have fresh food, furniture, appliances, parts for their eco cars that break down all the time. So thank you to all you that have delivered us all our goods without you we would be in 1812 again!
@C.CurrySims9 жыл бұрын
Good call. Also those who work in warehouses and D.C.s would not have a job niether. In conclusion the American economy would not work at all without truck drivers, and may God grant all truckers safe travels

Don't feel bad for truck drivers. It is the greatest profession in the world to me. You get to see and experience so much more than your typical person. And make good money doing it. Hopefully your brother in law is making the best of it;)

Troy Taylor The best. Although my dad only drove to designated cities in Georgia for a trucking company, it was still a BLAST to ride and meet people. :)
@hadmatter92406 жыл бұрын
@Tsuruta1 One of my oldest memories is riding with my dad when he was hauling lumber. But in '77 he started working for another company and they didn't allow him to take me along. I think that's where I got my wanderlust from, even though he never drove OTR (I was lucky that he was home every day and not gone for days/weeks at a time).

Written in 1980 by country music star Eddie Rabbitt, with help from Even Stevens and David Malloy. Covered in 1998 by Rhett Akins, especially for the soundtrack of the movie Black Dog. Rhett said he covered it not really knowing much about the movie except it was going to be 'high energy' -- because Patrick Swayze was going to be in it -- 'so I made it plenty edgy and hardcore...'
