Often people use their pain to rise above it. Or they use their pain to fight injustice in the world. Rather that use the pain to be corrupt or cause conflict. I admire everything that Eddie Vedder stands for. I have for nearly 30 years. I like that he speaks out against political corruption. I like that he stands by strong and good morals. Eddie may have lacked support in a lot of places. But, he found it in other places. Sometimes, vacancies creat opportunities elsewhere and we don’t even realize it because we get so caught up in the pain of what we feel that we are missing. Thank we are blind to what we have found.

If you ever come across to this video, Eddie, I want you to know that you and Chris Cornell saved my life a bunch of times, as I'm 27 right now and have been struggling with depression since I was 15 years old, but your lyrics, your sensibility, the realness of your art always help me to get through the hardest days... I love you, thank you so much! I tried to say this to Chris when he came to Brazil in 2007, I found his bandmates outside the club he was going to play for his solo tour, but he was late for the concert because it was pouring rain and the traffic was horrible. I wish I could say this to you in person someday, even if it is a cliche and you must hear something like that everyday, I feel the need to thank you in person, I'm not exaggerating, you're really a hero to me. Incredible journey for both Eddie and Steve. I was listening to a podcast with Eddie in it and he dove deeper into the songs he found that his father had sung. In one of the final songs, his father had replaced the original lyrics with “take care of Eddie for me”. Absolutely heartbreaking and tragic to know that he was loved but never was able to see that love.

@1:21 ..That expression creates a familiar hurt in my heart. There is a particular yearning kids who lose parents young will possibly always have.. it's a poignant blade that pierces our hearts wholly. The poison of it fills to the brim and leaks from our eyes even on days when the smiles seem endless. Grief is a tricky thing. It is the feeling of being cheated out of something. The feeling of always having questions but no answers, and the feeling of loving even with no absolute reciprocation.. If you've ever felt grief, you've felt love in it's rawest form. ....♥️I love you Dad and I hope you knew that. I've missed you everyday in one form or another. Sometimes in laughter, others in tears. But always with love. -Nana

That's a beautiful moment for sure. I am a new father to the most beautiful baby girl I have ever laid my eyes on who is almost 18 months old. In march of this year I was severely ill, not nearly as life threatening as Gleason's, but had I not pushed my doctor with the help of my wife, I would most likely not be alive. I was at a point where anything I did hurt my body, I couldn't stay hydrated and my wife and daughter came home to me passed out in the bathroom covered in vomit. I had contracted a severe illness from contaminated food while recovering from spine surgery and nearly died. All I could think of while hospitalized was my wife and our daughter.

Eddie! Thanks for the great music. I had no mother and know what it's like to carry on with an empty feeling inside. I dated a woman with a 4 yr old daughter that had no father. I treated that little girl like my own. I saw in her the same emptiness I have felt all my life. And so I gave her all my attention and energy. Sadly her mom betrayed my trust and we broke up. I remember crying because I know I would miss the little one. We had grown attached to each other. And what hurt the most is that she needed me and I could not be there. Her mom was selfish leaving her in pre k 9 hours a day while she did nothing for 6 of those hours but stay home and relax. It's going to be two years and I still feel pain and hope that she is doing ok.

All I ever wanted was to know that he loved me. He passed when I was 26 years old and to this day I still get emotional at times. When I am listening to pearl jam and hear "I'll wait up in the dark, for you to speak to me" I still get teary eyed thinking of all the times I would be waiting for my dad to pick me up and he wouldn't show up. So beautiful. Pearl Jams music helped me so much, growing up. My dad left me and mom and brothers when I was 6. I always thought he just died when he went to Bolivia. Come to find out, at 30 plus years, he was alive the whole time. And went on to have 3 other kids

I'm not a pearl jam fan. But... This interview kinda shows you what type of person Eddie Vedders personality. Seems like a very honest and good person.

Wow. My thoughts about my dad exactly. I was raised by the neighbors. Dad was not there mom was busy working to keep us kids fed so it was neighbors who stepped up about teaching us values.

I'm not sure but I think this is why I have so much respect for Ed. I like Ed never knew my dad and up until I was 12 thought my my mom's husband was my real dad until in an argument my sister blurted out that I don't even have a real dad. I get emotional just thinking about my dad cause I've seen pics of him but never heard his voice. My dad passed away when I was very young so never got to meet him but I only hope he would be proud of me for the life I live. I'm now 61 a retired army major with 5 amazing girls and my wife of 42 years, my high school sweetheart. It's ironic I never had a son but God graced me with 5 amazing daughters and for that I'm grateful. I'm very close to all 5 and they know my story. Pearl jam music is very much a huge part of my life. I think intuitively we gravitate to things familiar to us or it's just that our souls know what we need eternally I'm not sure but I do know life's ok now and I live it to the fullest each day. My oldest sister told me I am a lot like our dad and that's good, I can live with that🙏

without emotions like love or anger or hate, we are just like robots dedicated to walk, sleep, eat, reproduce and shit.Very nice moving video anyway from music legend Eddie.

I got really into Pearl Jam when I was 21 around this time I learned my father had passed. I learned that Eddie went through a similar situation like me not having a man there to show you how to be a man and needing to learn it on your own. I’m still learning everyday and even though I have my setbacks I try my best to get better.
