Played slow, it's a song of its own. And a damn good one.

Eddie… though complex this is not complicated. Due to the alternating guitar banjo parts it magically becomes a play along lesson that when approached slowly can work for a beginner such as me. To learn a song I physically write out the tab first on paper. This action creates a visual sound image in my mind then I play that measure in full to some level of proficiency. The alternating guitar then banjo parts gives me time to be mentally ready to play when it’s my turn. Due to my left handed/severely dyslexic mind set I need to assemble all information in mental/visual building blocks in a logical order. The Dueling Banjos tune provides that for me. Many thanks for your continuing contribution to my musical journey.

That's a good technique. The process of writing something out for oneself (even when the tab is provided) helps all learners better "picture" what they are trying to do and is a very good learning tool.

I've known somewhat how to play some of this for a long time, thanks to you I can now play the whole song on guitar.. I need more practice though, would LOVE for you to make a "Play Along" version with your Banjo for practicing! That would be so great!

Hi Eddie, I am brand new at the banjo, actually it's a 4 string Irish Tenor Banjo, however, I know my way around the guitar so I'm hoping that gives me some small edge. I just purchased this thing for $150.00 and I was told it's from the 1960's. It's called a Beltone banjo.

As someone that plays Clawhammer with no picks, can i still do this maybe using a 2 finger thumb lead type of playing instead?
@eddiecollins23947 ай бұрын
You can read the tab the same, then choose a right hand pattern that you can combine with the chords during the "fast" part.
