I just sent my first 2100 mailers today. To be honest, I was pretty damn scared they'd be rejected. The postmaster told me they needed to be in tubs....not boxes. The two routes I bought were in separated boxes. So he handed me the tubs and I transferred them over. Other than that, I just needed to give him a sample. Since I didn't have any other than those bundled, I asked him to pull one out.....he was a bit annoyed. But did it anyway. And that was it. I asked when they'd be delivered and he said tomorrow morning! That was good to hear. Anyway, there it is. Thanks for you helpful videos! I will see what this round of mailers will generate and consider doing more if they pay for themselves and then some.

Huge congrats and achievement getting your mailers out successfully! that postmaster is wrong, but all that matters is you get them accepted. (there's nothing that says they have to be in tubs). Man I'm so happy you got these out and hope they do some business for you! Also don't be afraid to ask me for a quote on any further ones!

@@johnnylloyd4487 We have an optometry practice. Our returns on this investment were mixed. We did make a profit, based on the costs we paid. However, this didn't consider the time everything took. In general I think we can streamline this and it will take less time and effort, thereby being a better investment. Also repeat mailers the same areas will help reinforce our branding. We used Canva to develop the mailer so we will continue tweaking things.

What would you say is a range of what to expect as far as response from a mailing? I know there are a ton of parameters but perhaps a range would work. 1 out of1000 1 out of 10000? Is it even measurable with percentages? I remember back in the old days when we direct mailed we were told if we did everything perfectly getting a 1% response was good. Great videos BTW and really appreciate the no fluff videos and getting straight to the point.

One route is a little small of a sample to be honest, and it might actually get some results but could take time as people may not need the service right away (this is one of those things where people hang on to it for when it's suddenly necessary). Awesome vid! How much wold you recommend charging for EDDM services? I have a customer who has requested me to do 1250 postcards for them. Postage fees and printing are almost $600. But I have no clue what to charge for myself.

This can get expensive real quick people. I suggest printing a large size and as a minimum have someone else take the other side and cut your costs in half. If you are pool guy, ask a landscape or pest control guy to take the other side, etc. p.S. Put something ENTICING on your ad. Ok. my two cents...

Hey Jake. I was looking for another video you did that I watched recently on saving money on EDDM by getting a permit. I actually just recently got a permit. Had been mailing Retail at 18.7 cents. But I may have messed up by doing so! After getting the permit #, I went to the EDDM site to do a "test" and the price I was getting was 18.2 cents per piece. Does that sound right? I thought it was more than that. For the $275 fee, and the $0.005 cents savings, I'll need to mail 55,000 pieces to just break even. It's highly unlikely that I'll send that much in a year! I'm a realtor and currently started farming about 2400 homes, which a piece every month will be just under 29K pieces, plus there's some other campaigns that I send to other routes as well, but it's not likely to be double that amount. Maybe you're getting a larger discount as a Commercial printer and shipper vs. the solo guy like me. Any insight there? I have it now so we'll see how it goes this year, but I may end up losing a few bucks overall! I guess, if nothing else, I can do more than $5K/day, so there is something to be said for that!! 🙂 Thanks.

hey! I do need to actually update in the description for that video because things have changed, as you're experiencing! Last year, suddenly the USPS did this ridiculous change where they increased the permit discount, and reduced the non-permit discount! It was super frustrating for all of us permit holders and came out of nowwhere. I actually made a recent video about the change and I found out why they did it. But that's besides the point, the problem is that we're just not saving enough right now like we used to in the recent past. BUT, there's still the advantage of not being limited to 5k a day and also I think there will be that gap again as they will raise retail EDDM rates but not raise permit rates much. I wouldn't be surprised in a year to see EDDM go up a couple cents and permit to stay roughly the same, bringing us back to a few cents per-piece savings (which adds up).

@@NebulaHolistic-jc2yd 35-65 is a very wide range, the best thing you can do is test it, it's hard to tell how it would convert. Something like this you'd likely want to mail 2500-5000 to accurate gauge results. A QR code with trackable scans (flowcode.com) would be a MUST.
