NYC Subway: Twenty-third R211 enters service on the A line! (7/24/24)

The twenty-third Kawasaki R211A is now on the A line in the New York City Subway! This one was special, as it was formerly stored at Jamaica Yard for CBTC testing. The car units are numbered 4230-4239.

The 24th R211 (4290-4299) is in service now too. I saw 4290-4299 at Chambers Street between 8:55 and 9:00 am on its first day of service, which makes me think I may have been one of the first people to witness it in service.

I took thisset once and it was originally going to Lefferts Boulevard but then they sent it to Far Rockaway for some reason ☠️ Also 4230s bullet is so bright.

So we currently have about the same amount of R211s running on the A line like how there used to be that certain amount with the R179s

A lot more is coming. After they finish all the R211As R211Ts/S they should be rewarded with the R262/As contracts. They definitely have to find the right builders to build the R262/As open and close ways.

@@drewrides1073 Stay longer, they’re everywhere on the A. And remember that not every single set is out all at once, some are kept in the yard for rush hour or as backups.

I usually wait for the next one if that isn’t an R211. Like Bravo Charlie said, stay longer and then you’ll find them. Just don’t do them for the R211T, cause there is often just one in service
