So I was all set to do a carb rebuild today because my engine wouldn't idle correctly. Thought I would take a quick look at the low speed circuit after looking at this video. Sure enough the left side had some junk in it, blew it out and it idles like a champ. You just saved me a couple hours of time. Thank you!

Great advice. About 2 minutes worth of effort solved my serious idle problem. Thank you Edelbrock!

Thank you so much for this and your other vid's! This solved the idling issue on my 72-El-camino 350 with Edelbrock carb...Literally took less than 2-mins! I used a computer keyboard/duster cleaner air spray to blow out the holes. The pins looked clean, but just adjusting them made a big difference!

@snowneck. Yea I fixed it. What I did is back the screw all the way out. Took it out. Sprayed some Carb cleaner into the hole in the Carb. Like a few seconds worth of spraying. Let it dot a few minutes. Then I blew about 80 psi through that hole with an air hose for a few seconds. When I saw fuel coming out the top of the Carb with air pressure in the hole, I knew it was cleared. Try that.

It just blows the junk that was clogging the idle circuit back into the bowl and finds its way back into the idle circuit again. It's better to take the top off and flush out the bowls. I have to do this on a regular basis because my car sits outside and condensation corroded the bowl. I've purchased two carbs now and the second one is now at a point where I have to buy a Holley carburetor to fix the problem.

Awesome. Thank you for the tip!

will dirty idle circuits cause one idle mixture screw to be screwed in all the way and not cause the engine to stall??

if the fuel system is pressurized and the car is running, should I expect fuel to come out of the A/F screw hole is the screw is removed?

So I bought a new carburetor and the idle mixture screws do nothing on it. I did have to kick the idle speed screw up so it would idle. Before it would die if your foot wasn’t touching the gas.

My 1406 flooded out going around a corner. I got out and lifted the hood and notice a steady quick drip of gas on my valve covers. Now that i think of it i noticed wet spot on my intake manafold. Im lucky my truck didnt go up in flames. I decided to rebuild it and waiting. I have a 73 c10 step side 5.7

My carb is shooting gas out of the top of it and the flap is open and wasn't before and I don't know how to fix it
@davidpaetsch84994 жыл бұрын
What if it dies down but never idles higher then when you start. It either runs normal or stalls

Thanks. This solved my problem, but the idle issue came back again. I've had to do this 3 times this month. I was going to replace the fuel filter, but could it be something else? A friend has mentioned I should drain the tank because he suspects bad gas. Apparently, he said the gas can crystalize and get gunky. Anyone have any advice to share?

Sound like you need to re-adjust the float level. Use this link Edelbrock Carburetors - Additional Tuning to see hows it's done.

@@EdelbrockTV is it common for the screw sets to break or is one screw shorter then other driver side screw does let me adjust the screw but on the passenger side it doesn’t let me adjust the screw I can screw it in all the way and it will still idle and I can take the whole screw out it will still idle when the truck is off and when I took the screws out one looked shorter then the other but one did look broken I swapped and the longer one doesn’t even screw in all the way so I’m thinking the tip of the screw might be broken and stuck in the mixture hole ??

i have the same issue, sept driver side, did you solve it yet?
@thademigod12 жыл бұрын
This didn't work on the passenger side screw. I can't get any adjustment out of it. It does nothing when i screw it in or out while running...

wtf? You blow the dirt back into the carb - that's a shorttime-solution :o(
@glennyamasaki12082 жыл бұрын
You got that right. The bowl on mine became corroded from condensation and I had to buy a new replacement 600 miles from home. now my second carb is giving me the same problem. Time for a HOLLEY !!

That doesn't work. My car still won't idle unless I hold the throttle.

clogged fuel passage or your carb choke is not on/almost close
@user-ge2qn6gp4o2 жыл бұрын
Bought a brand new avs2 650 carb. It's on a brand new engine with a brand new fuel system. Edelbrock fuel line and filter kit. I've got a 110gph brand new edelbrock fuel pump with a very expensive brand new edelbrock fuel pressure regulator set to 5.8 psi. Idle is set at 850rpm. Manual choke with choke all the way open. Mixture screws do nothing. I can turn them all the way in and all the way out. I will try this. Either way I will be disappointed in Edelbrock as nothing should be clogged on a totally brand new system.
