You can take apart and clean and put back together and reset float levels. If it has a stumble there are things we can suggest to make better.

I have ah 650 AVS thunder carb. My question is. I have ah vacuum leak that causes it to diesel. I totally blocked all air flow from it while it was running and tha idle jus picked up higher and it didn't die so do u think I need to replace my intake gasket ?

The choke adjustment that you demonstrate is not the same as what is listed in the installation guide that came with carburetor.The installation guide says too turn to leanest position, warm engine to normal operating temperature, with engine running turn choke clockwise until choke valve begins to close, then turn back counterclockwise one notch and then tighten the housing screws.

My first 600 the phone rang when I returned an idiot yahoo was in my truck's engine compartment with the carb and a half inch of gasket on it's bottom side. It never ran right and would always get a whistle out of it when it was closest to being adjusted. With the problems I am having with another 600 I believe the ports and passageways are near impossible to clean Compressed air works sometimes along with cursing and throwing shit.

call me crazy but if you are wedging a 7/16ths drill bit and it's actually visually raising the float, than that's not a properly adjusted float, I would consider that too tight, I would think the float should not move when you wedge a 7/16ths under it, it should rub against it a bit but not move the float, and in your video it appears one float is higher than the other

I guess there is a reason you didn't show how to adjust float level if it is not 7/16ths? I know you make small bends on the arms that attach floats to carb, but bend which part in what direction?

Does Edelbrock make a cool little cover to fit over the intake area so we don't drop the spring or rod down inside? It would still give us access to the spring cover. I have a 1403.

Your Thunder Series Carburetor has a Spring Loaded Air Door above the Secondaries, these are adjustable! On the Performer Series which have a Counter Weighted Air Door below the secondary boosters open when your engine feels a vacuum drop and the Air Doors Tips OPEN. You do not need this on your # 1806, it should be fine out of the box.

Ok thanks. I'm putting it back together as we speak. The passenger side float was bent and hanging down. I'm trying to bend it back to sit at the 7/16 you recommend.

We do not offer or have an Emissions Legal Replacement Carburetor for your 1985 K5 Chevy. If you are not in an Emissions situation you could use our # 1400 Carburetor with our Installation Kit # 2697

My accelerator pump bore was apparently machined with a loaded-up tool. The pump could not possibly seal correctly in that buggered-up hole. Of course, I didn't discover it until well after the warranty had expired. Someone had to have assembled it that way. Not at all happy with the quality control. I might look at it again and try to bush the hole. Can anyone tell me what diameter the bore is supposed to measure?

I can screw in my air/fuel mixture screws on the drives side and there is no change in the engine , is this a vacuum leak or crap in the fuel circuit

Had the same problem you are having. Found out the intake was warped 20 thousandths. Had it machined and when i got it together the mixture screws were so touchy i couldn't believe the difference. Is it just the screw on the driver's side you are having trouble with? Maybe you should try cleaning the fuel circuit first? If that dont help maybe its sime to pull the intake?

Are there any Edelbrock Linkage adjustment video's? I'm running the 14063 Carb on top of a performer plus on my 402 mild Big Block Chevy in my 70 Nova. Runs great 3/4 the way through the throttle range but when I get to the last 1/4 of the throttle range, it sputs, sputters and stumbles. Wondering if I can make adjustment's to the linkage to help this?

I had the same problem. I changed the accelerator pump linkage position to the top most hole. Runs way better.

hey I have a Mercury Turnpike Cruiser -57 368 "engine overhauled to 400" everything is new on the engine. attempted to use an Edelbrock 1405 .. but it may not work. no matter how I adjust (change needle and seats) in the carburetor, the engine runs lean above 1800 rpm and the car starts to lose momentum o strangle themselves .. can carburetor be too small for the engine? need good advice. ps I have followed your troubleshooting procedure several times. no difference. also removed the cylinder heads o camshaft found no fault .... the Engine is a Early BIG BLOCK Engine from Lincoln

Hey zvenamp. I"m not a specalist by any means...but from my research, I think the 1405 is probably too small for your application..I would call Edelbrock and ask their opinion on what size you should use..I've also seen carb calulators online to help direct people to the right size carb.

so I have this carb on my 69 fastback, car starts and idles great but it's recently developed this issue where it's as if the car has hiccups.. when I'm cruising every now an again when I give it a little gas it misses.. it's pretty random. also when I corner hard it sounds like it wants to stall.. I'm thinking it's a fuel delivery issue.. any ideas? Thanks in advance Sir.

GunfightersINC Check your float levels, they may be set too high and fuel is sloshing out of the float bowls and temporarily flooding the engine, especially noticeable in hard turns.

My carburetor choke adjustment won't tighten down all the way, I can tighten all 3 screws and it doesn't fully tighten, I can still turn it. My carb is a 1406 by the way, I also have the triangle spacer piece like there was in this video.

I have a 600 cfm performer for my zz4 350. It's used and been sitting in a box for 2 years. I'd like to try and use it again but it always had a stumble I could never figure out. I put a 750 on it now..the stumble is gone but it's real rich. Should I put the 600 back on and how should I prep it since it's sat for so long.

Idle circuit's plugged or there's a vacuum leak. Pull the screws out and see if the ends are dirty and spray some carb cleaner down the hole. Another trick that works sometimes is to have the engine running, rev it up a lot and put your hand over the top of the carb so it sucks all the crap out of it.
