- Yes, you can beat him in Stock RX8. You need to use manual transmission - No. Spoilers dont effect performance. Anything visual dont effect performance. - No. Camaro is the best starter car, with the highest stock top speed (275KMH), nice handling and good acceleration. RX8 is better to beat darius tho. - You dont have to beat the whole game, you can wrong warp to darius canyon after the prologue :) Edit: When you start a boss race after successfully evading the cops you get put in a random place in the track so you have to basically drive there

Actualy spoiler have an effect in this game. Even bodykits do. Noticed it some time ago when all i changed was adding a wang and bodykit. In MW05 bodykits also did something and this games physics don't work much different.

THE NOSTALGIA!!! The Music, the cutscenes, the map, jeez I love this game. Also I beat this game at 7yrs old making the game almost 4 at the time. RX-8 was my favorite starting car, but I remember playing alot in the Lotus Elise.

Matt814211 managed to pull it off 3 years ago, he knew how to do the turns perfectly without being passed. The one part with the most difficulty was right at the end on the final stretch of Stage 2, where in order to keep his points, he had to BLOCK and make Darius basically PUSH him to the line so he would regain 5,000 points every split second from all that bumping.

Wait bumping gives point to the one that bumps? I always thought that when I pump into the boss that I get points for reaching him. Like being as close as I can. Why is that different when it’s the other way around?

@@zentrix4161 Round 1 in Canyon: You lose 5000 points if you bump the boss you are chasing. Round 2 in canyon: You gain 5000 points if you hit the boss or the boss hits you.

It was just that as a kid I just saw the number popping up and assumed I gained points since it is an achievement to get that close in my opinion. I don’t really get why that mechanic is there. It should be the other way around. I guess they wanted to reward you for blocking good 🤷‍♂️

One thing I always found is that when using a scout (Sal, Yumi etc) if you turn their ability off they end up being much faster and rubber band even more, making it especially easy for winning speedtrap races.

Stock RX-8 run is indeed possible, but you need extreme level of patience and lots of experience in NFS Carbon and be sure to master manual transmission.

I couldn't beat Darius when I first played Carbon at 11 years man. I remember watching the final race on YT and lying to my friends that I beat the game when I was little. Did the same thing with Most Wanted. Gosh, those were the times. I played on my dad's laptop back then with on board graphics at 20 fps lol. Best days.

I went through similar hell when I was younger. Most Wanted 2005 made me fall in love with the Wankel cars, and I was furious when I realized they nerfed the RX8 & 7 in Carbon, because of the stupid teir system. It was so frustrating being left behind, even with the max tuned RX7, yet, in the previous game, every car had the potential to be great. Weak Tuners, home grown to step to Lambos and whatever. But Carbon screwed all that up. I was pissed. Even more pissed NFS Heat doesn't have 3 or 4 rotor swaps, still the same 2 rotor Wankel. Underground 2 & MW2005 are the last great NFS games to me.

I beat him first time with a slightly tuned skyline very easily, but sometimes I struggled against him when I used lambos or carrera gt. but best way to win against him was to either use, covette, viper or challenger (fully tuned) and you will take over him in the first corner. Those cars are torque beasts in carbon

After that I discovered that sometimes if I was fast on a corner and the boss tried to overtake me by the outside, he would most likely fall off the cliff. I did that to all 4 bosses and all of them can eventually fall!

As a kid I remember taking like a whole summer to beat this game. As an adult I beat the game in 1 day. I remember in MW05 on the gamecube every time I beat blacklist #3 and selected the bonus card with his Viper on it my game would conveniently freeze, but not if I selected the other two. I restarted and beat him a couple more times to get his Viper to no avail. You should avenge the fact that I never got to beat MW05 as a kid and play that one next if you haven't already.

Also, I didn't reach the Casino district of the city. I beat Carbon once as a kid and it was a year or so ago. My cars looked stock but under the hood, they weren't. Your mistake with Darius was you kept trying to slow WAY down to a stop nearly, and brake checked him while he was like 200 ft behind you making it even easier for him to get caught up. its much better if you simply keep going as fast as you can and block him allowing him to hit your rear end(giving you a speed boost) which makes him slow down a good bit just like a brake check. Once you lose momentum, you give his much better accelerating car an even bigger advantage and hes caught up by then also. You were doing better at the start blocking him at speed and it was working fine...but then you changed it up and were slowing down too much.

I never got to finish Carbon as a kid, so I came back years later. I decided to unlock the Nissan from challenges, it beats t2 cars with ease, and then I dominated every race up until the Darius region. I called it quits for the day, happy with my progress. When I came back next day, for some reason my story progress was reset and I had to beat everyone again, except this time I had everything I unlocked before. Every car, every upgrade. Another thing that changed, however, was that every race was against t3 cars. Those who did races with t1 against t3 can imagine the pain when doing that for the whole game. I guess I have to beat Carbon in one sitting now.

the thing in this game, the slower your car, the slower your opponents is.... plus if you loosing by marging, opponent's slow down so you would be able to catch up. its called rubber banding

These days I put the game on my PS2 again trying to beat Darius (which I also never managed to so when I was a kid) . I spent at least 1,5-2 hours trying to beat Darius even with a maxed out Lamborghini Murcielago. I was really curious to see how this challenge would go. I think that the other bosses' difficulties change if you face them with tier 1 car instead of a tier 2 but I am not sure...

if you have extra options downlaodedyou can press F6 on the race start countdown 3 2 1 and then unpress when the race starts. your car will accelerate to 420+ km/h or even fly out of the canyon without losing and you'll win because you were far away from the opponent. (F6 enables AI driving, "autopilot")

I beat Carbon when it came out. And I did it in an underpowered 350Z, which is waaaay more difficult than it seems, because I found you can only beat him with an overtake in round 1 in the switchbacks as you come down the big hill. Which isn't very easy because the 350 is outperformed by the Audi R8

I basically played Carbon like this: Pick RX-8 and keep it stock until you win the RX-7. Use the RX-7 and keep it stock until you get the Corvette. Beat the rest of the game with the OP Vette.

Idk if this was the same for everyone, but when I faced Darius, there was a corner in the canyon duel that he consistently went too wide in, so I would pass him on his left side. Since my car was too slow I just brake checked him up until the timer ran out. Took me hours to make it work.

You know they change difficulty of the races depending on how much performance upgrades you have. So you were facing the worst a.i. possible. Cops for example are maxed at heat 2 with a stock starter car. It may be even more difficult with one or two upgrades than none

Saddly it's not. The game is easy. The catch up mechanic is too OP. Can beat this game with any stock car and racing clean. No need to pit or crash other drivers to win. No wall riding. It's not a difficult game.

Hey you can do it, collission gives YOU points in the both stages of canyon duel. And switch on the rear view mirror. If you run out of points, dont run away from Darius just brake and get hit by him. Do it until you dominate points and get pushed to the finish

I definitely got better at racing games, but it may also have been a bit of luck. Never thought to try doing the game completely stock tho, not sure I could pull it off either tbh. Also I did not take the burnout vinyl as a kid, I remember seeing it and thinking "that's ugly as hell."

Carbon is my fav NFS game of all times. I came back to it a few years ago after many,many years,and the game was easy compared to as playing it as a kid

I never beat Carbon as a kid either. At some point I think I remember I got stuck in an SLR with not enough speed/skill/upgrades to beat Darius.

I did beat him in 2007 with a Mitsubishi Lancer, hahaha. The trick was to take him out on the first corner. If you manage an advantage on the first corner, you will block him all the way.

I've been playing this since I was a little kid, used rx-8 stock to beat kenji, get his car and clean out the entire map... maximum efficiency.. usually took me 2 days to clear everything

I've played this so much... I loved this game, as I didn't know any better. My favorite car was the "Nissan 240SX". After a full upgrade, it was a demon.

Yo I remember struggling with Darius in the Canyon, so I upgraded a Corvette or Viper and then passed Darius in the first turn and kept him behind me for 10 seconds. Ta daaa.

I remember when I bought this game I really wanna get the R8 so much that when I discover that you couldn't get the Darius pink slip I was soooo mad at the game I almost broke the DVD. Specifically after coming from the most wanted, I really expect much more from Carbon
