Note: There are ventilation outlets underneath in the fusi. Maybe should have been bigger though the 30A ESC wasn't really rated high enough for a 28A current when used with a 3S lipo. I've upgraded to 40A now and it's fitted outside in the airflow
@Emiliocab473 ай бұрын
Don't forget that you need ventilation holes for the air that enters through the scoop to exit. Otherwise, there won't be any air flow over the esc

Love it mate! Great little plane. EDFs seem much more efficient than open props.

The info I found in my little research before trying it was contradictory as far as efficiency goes! I thought less efficient? Good fun though!

Which converstion flies the better? Which one has the best speed? Thanks
@bobflyman Жыл бұрын
Hi Mate, they all fly well, Spitfire probably best . I think I had a about 8 mins flight with the EDF , can't remember the current. It is a 45 mm EDF. Regarding speed that's quite a difficult question because it depends on how heavy you make a conversion and what motor and prop you use and what size lipo. I guess my first conversion, the yellow one, is quickest as it has the biggest motor and big propeller. That was the one in this video but since that build I changed the nose to improve battery position. The details of motor and prop are on the video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZaxoaudd5tlfc0&pp=gAQBiAQB and this is the nose job modification kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGjOi6OHpshsedU&pp=gAQBiAQB

Klever.. Roll up a printer paper (or?) thrust tube. It will help performance... noticeably.

Bob, looks like BG have discontinued this EDF. Have you tried any others ? Just starting my first Lidl conversion... I'm based in Brasil and not a huge number of suppliers here.

Hi mate, I just clicked on the link and it came up? SEE MY EDIT: www.banggood.com/custlink/vGGhU6iapa or there's a 55 mm one here that would do the job! www.banggood.com/custlink/KDKEUMAYDU EDIT I just clicked on the link for the 45 mm and yes, it does say not available. The 55 mm still is available, which might work better in fact? Or if you search AEORC EDF Ali Express still sell them but I actually bought my first from them and waited weeks for it! Did you see my EDF Vulcan made with a Lidl nose. On my channel!
@paulboulton212 жыл бұрын
@@bobflyman Was just typing about Aliexpress, then read your edit. I'm getting the 55 one as well from BG, they deliver fairly quickly down here, bound to come in handy. Haven't viewed the Vulcan yet, but it's on the list. Thanks for the reply. atb

What is the discharge rates on 460 and 800 battery. Is it 25c or 30c?

I got one of these Lidl gliders and mine doesn't glide very well: it keeps turning, no matter what I do; tried to correct the wing, tried to straighten the tail, nothing made it glide straight :-\
@bobflyman3 жыл бұрын
That's weird? Fuselage twist or bend? I take it that the main spar is bang in the middle 😕😉. Dihedral equal? Must have a twist somewhere. I've had a few, including Wish gliders that arrived the shape of a banana, and they've all been OK (once I straightened them out!)
@pixelpeter38833 жыл бұрын
@@bobflyman Version I've got doesn't have a spar (wing in one piece) and seems 'straight' to the eye. Tried to coach it to glide straight but lost my interest after many tries and back and forth to pick it up again. Oh well.

They may not make them, but once a year in around May they have them in store for a few days. People buy several at a time because they are great for RC conversion. They have a cult following. Google 'lidl glider' and you'll see what I mean!

Good for you mate, I warn you though, they are addictive! I've made about 6 or 7 different creations now from twins, to Biplane to EDF (all on my channel) and I bought two more this year! Red ones too! I'm still thinking about what I'll do with them, but I think they will be winter projects to keep me busy. I guess you're on the Lidl glider Facebook groups? Some interesting creations pop up on there, and good advice too. Have fun! PS I guess you've seen my build video with 46K views? I got tidier as I went on but it's a useful guide to building. Deciding on motor, prop and which lipo is the harder part.
