I own a Edgar Markov since he came out if I could give any advice to anyone who wants to build this deck definitely have a lot of 1 mana vampires in my deck which is basically blinged out I have like 13 one mana vampires because whenever they enter they come with a buddy and there are some really strong 1 mana vampires here are my one mana creatures Vampire of the dire moon, vampire cutthroat, vampire lacerator, shadow ally denizen, knight of the ebon legion, vicera seer, pulse tracker, victious concqisador, vampire noble, skymarcher asprint, vampire neonate, duskborne skymarcher, and lastly, indulgent aristocrat these are all powerful vampires especially if any get any kind of buffs from your lords or any creature that can put +1/+1 counters on your creatures look at vampire of the dire moon or vampire cutthroat if they get buffed the become like 1 mana vampire nighthawks in a way and that can be very powerful not to mention they come onto the battlefield with another buddy 1/1 vampire from Edgars ability you basically want to swarm the board and do as much damage as possible then when your opponent finds a board wipe you fall back on your aristocrat ability to hopefully finish the job

Im doing double tribal, vampire knight tribal.since Edgar is in Mardu and I have a Syr Gwyn deck already I wanted to do something fun and different,instead of just making another knight deck and for Markov I dont wanna do just vampires so I went with a double tribal and made it purely vampire knights. I call it the Bloodsworn Legion

I have "struggled" with how to build this Commander. The first iteration of it was a "go wide" version where none of my vamps cost more than 3 mana (except Edgar, of course) and I just wanted to overwhelm everyone with combat damage. That version was okay but I next decided to use commander damage as my primary way of winning. I inserted numerous equipments with evasion and other mechanics and tried to only deal combat damage with Edgar. It was more enjoyable than I thought it would be. Then I did another version where I had nothing but flyers...and that proved too strong for most pods. I finally decided on my current version which is almost strictly lifegain/lifeloss and aristocratsy. Nearly every vampire I have has either lifelink, death touch, or some other way that pings people for creatures dying. I also included several sac outlets and some combos. It may be a one-trick pony, but I like it mainly for the reason is that I either end the game very quickly so we can play another, or I get targeted and get killed quickly, so I can get up and stretch or walk around while the game continues.

I’ve been playing edgar markov since release and fully foiled and fine tuned the deck for complete aggro. Florian is one of the strongest cards to have in a vampire deck because its a mini tutor which synergies with the aggro. Theres also the infinite life drain combo with vito and exquisite blood. If you want to fix the issue of running out of cards from your hand run florian, esper sentinel, bob, twilight prophet, necropotence and dusk legion zealot.

I have tried lots of stuff with my Edgar deck, but I think this way is the most fun for me, I play cheap vampires to flood the board very quickly and overwhelm my opponents, sort of like what elves do too, so I opted for that strategy in this deck too. I don't think I'll bother with Edgar much more, it is fine the way it is, I might put in a creature here and there assuming an interesting vampire comes along next set, this set didn't get many, Florian isn't really suited for Edgar's 99. I have tried the mean discard strategy, but it wasn't fun for anyone, not even me. I have thought about Felisa, I opted not to put her in because she's 4 mana and for 4 mana I want a stronger effect. the Immerstrum Dragon is nice though. I haven't really looked at vampires from this latest set, but that vampire socialite looks good for sure. I may actually consider a couple of these for my deck. that dragon does hose graveyard strategies, you attack with it and exile something. the mean version must have Tergrid and maybe even Tiny bones, to make everyone lose their hands.

My build is constantly changing but the latest rendering is complete tribal with a bit of everything. Goal is board control through group sacrifice and or targeted removal until I can Swarm. Smokestack is a great card when you make tokens every turn (annointed procession)

Olivia Voldaren the one that lets you gain control of other creatures.... Captivating Vampire to gain control of other creatures....a few "gain control of target creature" red cards..... Sacrifice creatures that you only control until the end step....this tech is so mean it makes it fun... equipment with shroud or hexproof...these are built Into my Edgar deck, and is my most hated d3ck

Uhhhh correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Bloodthirsty Adversary + any < 3 mana player burn spell in your grave a wincon? Because it lets you play any number of the copied spell, if you play a burn like Boros Charm which can do 4 dmg to any player, you just cast that copy as many times as is needed to burn all opponents to 0 life and win the game. There doesn't seem to be a ruling against it's copies being infinite, unless I've misunderstood the card wording.

I made mine using my shadrrix shell more or less. Running various effects that reduces power and toughness all across the board all the while using pump effects and anthems. Shadrrix will also pump board and give a dude that will die. And if you have and death effects on board even better. Beat face as well as tombstone stairwell dudes are made there's die right away if you have like death drain effects or something there you go. Yours die at eot. Drain again. Repeat each turn. If u can pay the upkeep at least once. Again dudes show up there's die yours stay they have haste beat face eot your die drain. Thats one way I kill. But it keeps them guessing about what's going on due to not being full tribal vamps.

I have a house rule for eminence as interaction is promoted in my playgroup. Eminence is a partners with 0 mana cost and flash that is a 0/1 with only the eminence ability. The commander loses that ability. Commander tax is applied to the “partner”. The rest of the color identity and typings are the same as the commander.

@@JakeandJoelareMagic I don't think it is a balancing issue. Edgar en Innala are the strongest eminence commanders there are (including Oloro). If we take all take a stronger deck to combat those abilities it's fine without the houserule. The rule is there primary because the idea behind MTG in our opinion is that everything that happens can be prevented or removed. Eminence doesn't obey that principle. So in that with that rule it is fixed.
