My friend I love your videos. I've been trying to learn all the basics again. I hadn't fallen in 7 years of skating and I realized it's only because I never tried anything new. I never learned yo hockey stop or skate well backwards. After watching your videos I was so inspired I skated for 4 hours after working for 8 hours for a night shift. After I went skating the second day I actually got hurt. Probably because I hadn't exercised since lockdown from covid. Can you make a video about some of the stretches you do to protect your body? You seem much more flexible than most people I've seen. Thank you for making such great content!

How well does this translate to figure skates? It looks like you had some pretty sharp edges on your skates which allowed you to stay more stable while doing the edge work. Is it possible to slide sideways if you have a lighter, softer edge on your blades?
@barbaras3206 Жыл бұрын
doing pumps on circle helps. all weight on left, move right in pumps. lean into edge. it also helps to do do chasses. it's just not easy on open skates where there are 10 little kids being 8 year old hockey stars throwing gloves on ice and falling on knees, sliding on stomachs into your path.

HAHAHAHA HEEHEEHEEHEEHEE CHOKE SNORTLE Check with me again in 2033 and I may have some of this down. OMG GREAT video, but bad title. It should be called "Hot dogging for rink rats." I think that "figure 8" at 3:20 is a skill I saw a kid doing back in 1973 and has been a life goal for me ever since. In fact seeing that is why learning to ice skate has remained a life long goal for me such that I have now completed 16 weeks of classes at the age of 62. I have watched scores of ice videos on KZbin looking for that move and this is the first time I've seen it.

Nargedei, lemme ask you some questions. 1. Why you say to shift weight to the toes to stop? You dont do it, you stop with weight equally distributed through your blade. 2. Sometimes you are touching ice without bending in your knee, just your back, that's not good habit. You should always maintain good skating position, with bent knees. 3. These aint real excersizes. For real edge excersizes go check for itrain hockey edges tutorial.
