@jessicadavis88652 жыл бұрын
@@emulation2369 that’s not how I saw it at allllllll. I saw it as the human spirit overcoming technology. The movie is literally about a clone breaking out of a false reality that was forced upon him by an alien AI technology, rediscovering his humanity, choosing to fight for his fellow man, and willing to die an honorable death for the sake of humanities survival. He learned the importance of community and cooperation, and choosing to seek out truth instead of remaining blind fully ignorant. Victoria is the example of purposeful ignorance - her lack of questioning and unwillingness to question the way of the world led to her destruction and allowed an evil AI to remain in power. The tet is a false god of technology. A false god that had no understanding of the human heart, no understanding of the human spirit, and no understanding of the human soul. The true God understands humanity because he created it - this tet is nothing but a false god trying to destroy humanity, in my mind representing the way technology brings nothing but ruin to humanity and is incompatible with the human spirit. The decision to destroy tet destroys this invasive and destructive false god, leaving way for the humans to thrive and work together and live in community - the way the TRUE God meant for us to exist. I can see how someone would interpret this movie as anti-God, but in my opinion it’s actually anti-technology/anti-FALSE god.

Bill Paxton has one of the greatest lines of cinema in this movie. "There's no courage without fear!" I also liked to see him in this role where he gets to play the badass S.Sgt, compared to Aliens where he got to play the cocky grunt who was under the command of another badass, S.Sgt Apone. It's like a "promotion", if you will, where he got to play his own S.Sgt Apone in a sci-fi movie with grunts vs aliens. I can't really describe it properly, but that casting was kinda wholesome in a way. God, I miss Bill Paxton. What really interested me about this film is that it combines the novel it was based on (the Japanese book All You Need Is Kill) with the World War II operation it also served to commemorate (the D-Day landings). It was even released on the 70th anniversary of those landings. It also references a couple of other historical battles (Operation Downfall, the planned Allied invasion of Japan that was cancelled when the Japanese surrendered, and the Battle of Verdun during World War I. Plus, can we appreciate that this film has basically become a metaphor for Tom Cruise's entire acting career? For his first 15 years, outside of the original Top Gun and Days of Thunder, he wasn't really that much of an action star. His bravery and dedication to his work has increased since he started the Mission Impossible series, just like his character here became better skilled as a fighter with each loop, to the point that he has done his own stunts for many years now.

you seemed a bit lost on cruise's character in the beginning. he had joined the rotc in college than this war broke out. he does not want to fight in the war and has instead used his education to help promote the war using the news to the public. he was in large part the face of the war effort to many and responsible for the recruitment of millions of soldiers.the general wanted to embed him in the front lines as a war correspondent. he did not want to be at the front and honestly did not seem to have full training either. he told the guy once the war was over he would use every bit of skill and influence to ruin him if he was forced to be a war correspondent so the guy had him knocked out, put in a unit that was expected to have a 100% death rate the next day to get rid of him. if he had somehow survived the general would no doubt have found some other way to have him killed so cruise's character would not be able to ruin him. surprised he didn't just have him killed in the first place honestly but he took a sadistic pleasure in making him go to the front

Yeah, it was incredibly illogical and quite frankly a waste of resources, not just wasting a PR guy, but also the soldiers he'd be serving with. Because in reality they'd lose focus trying to protect him instead of killing mimics. It always made me think someone in the U.S. brass wanted Cage dead for personal reasons and the Brit general was corrupt enough to help them murder a U.S. Major. Seriously though, wanting to put a PR guy in combat he isn't trained for just made the Brit general look like a moron. Best case scenario is Cage ends up severely injured and has to be medevaced out without a second of propaganda filmed or worst he ends up killed on camera. And trust me, a Major, let alone the face of the military, ends up dead on camera and people high up are going to want answers and heads.
@Jimmybrichie2 жыл бұрын
This movie was based off of a Japanese comic (manga) called “All You Need Is Kill.” The comic explains things, like alien origin and how their biology can interfere with quantum mechanics (time), in more detail. The reason Cage (Cruise) is experiencing this “Groundhog’s Day” is because he killed an Alpha mimic and absorbed its blood into his system prior to his death. Another difference between the comic and the Hollywood adaptation was that both Cage (Cruise) and Vrataski (Blunt) were actually BOTH in the loop. In order to break out, they not only had to kill multiple aliens, including a “Queen.” However, to completely break the loop one of the two of then had go die. Vrataski ended up dying in a melee woth Cage, who explained posthumously in a letter that the loop caused organic brain damage the more the looper looped. So Cage breaks out of the loop and becomes the new hero of the armed forces. Also, Cage was just a normal soldier and not a punk like he was shown initially.

One of the best movies with a title that was changed a few times before the release. Warner Bros. invested over $100 million in a marketing campaign for Edge of Tomorrow. The film was initially titled All You Need Is Kill after the light novel, but as filming was ending in July 2013, Warner Bros. changed the title to Edge of Tomorrow; Warner Bros. president Sue Kroll said the title was changed partly due to "negative chatter" about the word "kill" in the title. Doug Liman, who said he rejected the title All You Need Is Kill because it "didn't feel like it was the tone of the movie I had made", wanted to rename the film Live Die Repeat, but Warner decided to use that just as the tagline.

Toss in the excellent and terrifying alien design and incredible performances throughout, and it's a hell of a ride. My only issue with it is that I wish they didn't kiss at the end - I feel it deflates the idea that just knowing someone is inherently meaningful; the line 'I wish I didn't know you' broke my heart, and I just think it feels so much more powerful if it isn't a precursor to some kind of romance.

"I wish I didn't know you, but I do." Oof. Poignant. Awesome movie and a great twist on the Groundhog Day plot device. However... Cage gets a bad rap at the beginning of the movie. He's just a pretty face that the military has hired, slapped an officer's uniform on, and put on TV to sell the idea to a panicky populace that the war is going great, and we're not all going to die, screaming. When that same military then says they're putting him on the front line, completely untrained, he naturally objects. Sure, resorting to blackmail isn't the best response, but he was right when he said it was a bad idea: It puts not only Cage at risk, but every soldier around him. He doesn't even have the slightest idea how to work his suit. Not only can his fellow soldiers not rely on him to back them up, he might accidentally shoot one of them instead! Some REFM insists on putting an untrained man on the front line, and it's not going to be his butt at risk, so why should he care who he's harming with that order? He can just sit on his doughy ass, miles from the battle, and smirk to himself about how great for morale he thinks it will be to put the military's pretty boy mouthpiece in the meat grinder. And when the primary (but far from only) victim of that decision objects, he accuses Cage of deserting and sends him anyway, while lying about the man's rank. And the dumbest part of it is that, by accusing him of desertion and making his squad mates hate him from the jump, it completely negates the purpose of sending the P.R. guy to the front in the first place! But Cage is the bad guy because he's well aware of his limitations and job description? Whatever... I would reject the notion that Cage is a bad guy or even a coward in the beginning. He's an untrained disaster waiting to happen, and he proves it on the battlefield. It's only because of a freak alien accident that he gets the training he needs to be a help to his fellow soldiers, rather than a hindrance. He's more than willing to be the brave hero, once he has the training, or else he could have bailed on going to the Louvre with no more resets available. Of course, there's a difference between what the audience thinks and what the characters do. I'm fine with the COs thinking he's a "MAggOt! maggOT! MAGGOt! MaGgoT!" Priceless.

This movie was based on a Japanese comic titled "All You Need Is Kill" but the director decided the movie couldn't be called that. his prevent fans of the original material from recognising it, or made them assume it was a bad Hollywood ripoff when it's actually quite a good movie. The director wanted to call it "Live Die Repeat" but the studio rejected the title for obvious reasons, because it's a dumb name. The film didn't do great in spite of being well regarded by those who saw it. That said, is somehow got a sequel, and for some reason, they let the director name the sequel, so he called it "Live Die Repeat And Repeat" to ensure that basically nobody who liked the first movie would even realise there was a sequel. Geat job all round, almost nobody knows or cares that a sequel is being made (not out yet).

Great movie. You should watch other Time travel movies like Frequency 2000 and The Butterfly Effect 2004 or Prince of Persia 2010. Also other great Tom Cruz movies like The Firm, A Few Good Man and Jack Reacher

This is such a great movie :) I love Emily Blunt 💘🥰🥰🥰💗 Can't wait to see this reaction! :)
5:30 Saving Private Ryan (1998) is arguably your best reaction ❤️

He wasnt an actual deserter or traitor at the beginning, he genuinely got railroaded by the general to avoid the blame being put on him. Tom Cruise's character was the victim of cowardice not the actual coward.

He literally tried to blackmail his superior officer to avoid being NEAR combat. This isn't just cowardly, but it is attempted desertion. The general had every right to put him in his place, and it makes the character arc that much better.

I want to let you know that your reaction to this movie has given me hope in a very hard time. Can't explain why. I don't know you. For the past 16 months I've lived with a wife that I'm divorcing. I did it to help my step daughter finish her school year. Your videos helped me to know that there are smart women out there who I can connect with after I'm divorced in a few weeks. Thanks so much for giving me hope and motivation! Plenty of fish in the sea for all of us! Hope you are happy with your significant other! I'm going to find my next one God willing.

Arianna is my favorite!! Bill Paxton is the best in this movie... "No, Suh... I'm from Kentucky!"
