I do have to say that this particular era of Star Wars was tough to get through with the deaths of some of our favorite characters. I know it can't all be roses but man.....

It’s from like 2001. But I know what you mean. The whole NJO series had these different looking covers and binding, all the novels from the early 2000’s had that same type of design. Like Tatooine ghost, survivor’s quest, the aforementioned entirety of the NJO series, and many more.. When the prequels were coming out they wanted to “modernize” everything; And it wasn’t just Star Wars. Everything had that look to it at that time. The “new millennium” design, I remember going to like book fairs in elementary school around ‘99 and thinkin all of them looked so “cool” at the time. Like Guinness world record books, just everything that came out around 2000 had that kinda design back then.

I forgot how insufferable Jacen and Luke are in this series. You've got these invaders destroying whole worlds, enslaving other worlds, and Luke is just sitting there saying they can't fight. Jacen is saying they shouldn't even use the force! Everyone is turning on them(of course...that's what always happens) and they just sit around saying "fighting is wrong." Kyp is the only sensible one here, and the book is telling us he's wrong. C'mon Luke. There's an actual war going on... A _just_ war. It's already begun. The time for contemplating philosophy and theology is over
@MultiBigJC2 жыл бұрын
In a sense, you understand where Luke is coming from. Looking at the actions Kyp takes in the series and the fact that he was willing to kill the non fighting Yuuzhan Vong in order to accomplish his own goals proves in that state he was wrong. Lying even to his own allies to get what he wanted proved that his leadership was not any better than Luke's. Yes Fighting them is something Luke did and should have done more of. But at what cost would Luke give up his own conscious and values?
@histguy1012 жыл бұрын
@@MultiBigJC That whole thing with Kyp "tricking" everyone made no sense. He wanted to destroy a new world ship that was being grown, and some shipyards. The hero's destroy worldships in later books and it's depicted as a great victory. Kyp could have just said "let's destroy their shipyards and new worldship." It's the author trying make Kyp's very sensible attitude look like it has ulterior dishonorable motives, so Luke and Jacen don't look like horrible people.
@MultiBigJC2 жыл бұрын
@@histguy101 Yeah but this Worldship wasn't going to be used on the battlefront from what it seemed. They were intending to use it for their "Civilian" population. Whatever that means to the Vong. And considering it wasn't that difficult to destroy this Worldship, it didn't seem like they were even destroying a War Worldship. Plus, needing to lie to your allies to accomplish your own set of goals doesn't justify the means especially as a Jedi Master. Plus you look at the value of said Worldship, it made the Vong pull back from their assault towards the Core even though it was very brief. All in all, I'll say Kyp wasn't entirely wrong for striking on a major system and a major target. But using the Force to influence one of your allies into getting you military support that you otherwise wouldn't be able to get, that was what made it so wrong. And it's the fact that it's never addressed even by Luke which is what makes it weird. Leia of course knows what he did was wrong and so do a lot of his allies. Plus, falsifying military Data for a military strike, there's got to be some sort of law there right?
@DIEGhostfish2 жыл бұрын
@@MultiBigJC If the Vong refuse to use other ships to rescue those trapped on the world ship the one Kyp killed was intended to replace, those deaths are on them. And the idea that the worldship wouldn't see military use is silly, once it dropped its rescues off onto a reap planet it's a massive vessel that can be reused in many ways.
