A roller gives a great finish. Sadly giardini is just too expensive to get posted from Italy to U.K but it’s my favourite look! Fenice also ridiculous postage costs.

Would it be cheaper to order from the States? There is a place I've found here.

This is awesome! I've purchased some Angelus acrylic to touch up some worn gold from an old J.Crew bag.

I try fiebings pro dye on edges and I get bleed into the finished leather face. Is Edge Kote the correct alternative? Aside from burnish or acrylic edge paint that is. Thanks!
@iLoveLeatherNYC
@iLoveLeatherNYC Жыл бұрын
Fiebings is thin in consistency so its gonna run. If you want something with more grip you have to upgrade. Primer Base Coat + color gives you the best chance at a professional result.

Good. I don't use it often. Last time I used it to paint bonded leather. I was making a wallet and didn't want another heavy layer for the credit card slots.

I am afraid that the Giardini free trial pack is not available anymore or there is a mistake in the link. It brings me on the Giardini website but I could not find that free trial pack.

The video was posted in 2018. You can try searching ETSY to see if you can find smaller quantities.

Can’t find Giardini in Australia unfortunately. Giardini told me I would have to purchase from them, but I only want small amounts and shipping would be a killer.

Have you tried searching Etsy? I think there might be a few sellers there that carry Giardini, if not, Fenice is really good.

Yes I think so, these are all good for leather, for that I'd lean toward one of the barge products (rubber cement)

I’ve spent so much buying Giardini paints and they harden in the bottle and can never use again. Heartbreaking when you bought all the big sizes and six months later they are all unusable. I can’t find anything on the Internet for this issue. I was wondering if you have experienced it and if you know of any tips to help prevent this from happening.
@lunachu22
@lunachu22 7 ай бұрын
Apparently they have a 12 month shelf life according to the manufacturer. Sounds like the harden after a period of time. So you should buy smaller bottles of you don't use it often.

Does this mean I don't have to use a beveler or burnish the edges?!
@iLoveLeatherNYC
@iLoveLeatherNYC 4 жыл бұрын
Here's the thing about finishing edges. Different techniques yield different results. Beveler is advanced, burnished is rustic. As a designer / maker you call the shots, these are only a few more options to consider.

Great video! I would like to apply edge coat on my lv wallet because it's very old. I'm interested in the giardini brand but they have multiple browns. Which one would you suggest? Dark brown or brown?
@iLoveLeatherNYC
@iLoveLeatherNYC 3 жыл бұрын
Hello. I would probably choose the brown, #24. If it's a little too light you can add a drop of black to darken.

Thank you for such an informative video! My first time working with leather but wanted to ask which of these products might have the least amount of harmful fumes. I know to work in a well-ventilated area but I also have environmental illness and want to make some leather items that need the edges sealed. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
@iLoveLeatherNYC
@iLoveLeatherNYC 5 жыл бұрын
In my opinion none of the have heavy fumes, no stronger than paint pots purchased from Michaels or Hobby Lobby. You are not buying that much so I'd say low exposure. However if you are super sensitive do this outdoors or by a window.

I would argue that Giardini is a suprior choice for all situations. Fenice is much smoother to the touch. I would recommend trying both and use what suits best considering also the type of project that you are making.

I purchase mine from a store in New York, I don't think they offer it online. I found this on Amazon called PATTERN PAPER, it looks the same, hope this works for you. www.amazon.com/Pattern-Paper-Manila-48-Yards/dp/B002YWM8RA/ref=sr_1_12?keywords=OAKTAG+PAPER&qid=1551929745&s=gateway&sr=8-12
