This is the best instructional video I’ve ever seen for edge painting

Hi, Will 😁 thank you for making this video. I've worked with leather for a few years now, and I never got my edges quite right 😅 I've watched so many videos on KZbin. I love how you walked us through everything and explained things step by step :) you also have a lovely, calming voice. You've been if great help, friend! I'll be sure to save your video😊

Thank you! You explained it very well. Would a soldering iron also work, instead of the fileteuse (I don't know the spelling.)?

Great video! I was wondering, what is the heating tool you are using here? Is it possible to do this edge process if I do not have one of those tools (and if so, how would you recommend I change the process)?

Any chance you could give an actual temperature from a non contact heat meter of what 5 1/2 on your creasing tool relates to?

Hey Will! Hope all is well, question: where can I find fenice edge paint in the uk? Or can you recommend where to get it?
@poniel21233 жыл бұрын
thanks for this... I don't have a heating iron. I do have a creaser that i heat up with a torch to do my creasing. Can the heating process be done with that as well?
@WillHodges3 жыл бұрын
You’re most welcome, it can indeed. Make sure you’re subscribed as I’ve got a video going live tomorrow that includes a demonstration of how to do it with a manual creaser and a torch

Hi, I use Uniters edge paint. Feel free to email me and I can help you buy some
@djs_leather Жыл бұрын
how long do you let the paint dry? I always struggle with this.. it looks dry but when i touch it theres like a skin that i now wrinkled and it wont sand away. it turns into a little booger that you have to rip off :(
@WillHodges Жыл бұрын
Totally depends on the air temp and the brand of paint. Try using a small space heater or putting your item near a radiator

For the final polish I use my machine at number 5 and if I need to smooth the edge after the first coat I use it on 7

@@WillHodges Do you know what that translates to in degrees (F or C?)? Thanks!
@yiupiano3 жыл бұрын
Oooh, so it is totally necessary to use heat on the edge? I always thought I would only need to add tragacanth, sand it down and repeat and lastly use dye and wipe it clean.
@WillHodges3 жыл бұрын
Nope, there’s several ways of doing it, if not using heat you can simply sand between layers and get a similar result. So you’re doing the method without heat
