Thanks for this demo. I have my machine but no benefits like you are talking about . So I’m so glad that you are doing these instructions for us. Thank you…Thank you!!!!!!

Thank you for such an informative tutorial. Bernina has made edge to edge quilting much simpler and the scan with the laser makes the connection perfect.

Your tutorials are great! I am having one problem I need suggestions on. I am using BQM BD804 on my 990, giant hoop, and quilt sandwich with quilt cottons on top and bottom and By Annie Soft and Stable in the middle. At the end of each iteration, the design ends up with a messy thread nest on the bottom. I am making sure to keep the machine clean and oiled properly. What should the thread cutting be set at?
@ChrisandTagMillsАй бұрын
Sorry for the question above. I turned on Quilt Settings in the Stitch out Summary and it now matches the last stitch to the first perfectly and allows me to cut the threads, tie and hide them.

?? I'm a newbie for edge-to-edge and to having multiple bobbin cases (I had an 880 prior to the 990). Which bobbin case are you using? And would using the other one have negated the need to adjust the top tension? I have always shied away from adjusting tension. Still so much to learn in this area. Thanks for the great tutorial.

I'm having trouble hooping up my quilt projects. It's difficult to get the 3 layers in the hoop, and often very difficult to get the screw closure closed. Any suggestions? Or where I might ask?
@EllicottCitySewVac2 ай бұрын
Might be something goin on in the lock mechanism itself, I have not had any issues getting stuff hooped with it myself. Can you get it to lock in on stuff other than a quilt?
@starrdark2 ай бұрын
Ugh! This afternoon I removed a quilt, and it wouldn't close EMPTY. Finally got it to close by setting it flat on the table. I'm perplexed. Sometimes it works nicely, while other times it's like it's jammed.

@@starrdark i'd take the hoop to your dealer and have them look at it. If it's not right you should be able to get it fixed or get a new one.

After you hit the cut button, does it leave exposed threads?
@EllicottCitySewVac5 ай бұрын
it's locked with the short stitches at the end so you just trim em and you can't see it at all, it's just as if you cut em on a longarm with scissors

Hi Brad, Wonderful demo! Would it be useful to use a sticky template of the design and use Bernina's pinpoint placement to make sure the design is in the correct place? It seems that scanning every time is pretting time consuming. Maybe the camera can substitute for a template?
@EllicottCitySewVac5 ай бұрын
sure but its only 70 seconds. In real life it's not such a burden. Would be annoying to watch a video of it for sure though lol. using a template would definitely work great its just not for everyone

Between the brother and the bernina E2E, which is your favourite? (sorry if you have answered this later in the video, as I have immediately typed this question at the very start)
@EllicottCitySewVac5 ай бұрын
Baby Lock is easier to do the built in e2e but only have 10 options. We will see when the new machine is out if it gives us more but as it stands the 990 is better imo because it is way more versatile.

Great video Brad …does the 790 plus have the same functionality regarding a design stitching off the edge of the quilt? Ie continuing the design when it goes back onto the quilt?
@KarenQuilts4Fun6 ай бұрын
Thanks for this great demo-I’m new to Bernina but getting a 990. Why did you level using the fabric and not the placement lines (i typically use 4-6 marks to ensure the design is aligned). The fabric can stretch and with denser patterns it could make a bigger difference
