Just used this video to install and configure my ER-4. Took me about 5 attempts, but finally got it working. If anyone else is trying to do this and gets stuck, reset the router to default settings and follow the steps *exactly.* Thanks Willie!

Could you do a video on internet connections that either only provide an IPv6 address, or IPv6 with DS-LITE _(aka. you don't get a "real "IPv4 WAN address)_ ? Including best practices for how to setup the LAN when you have such an internet connection and need remote access to devices on your LAN, like a NAS or Unifi Video, etc. Also how to get remote access to a LAN device that does not support IPv6 at all _(like that swimming pool control system I have here)_

Since OpenVPN only uses 1 thread can you setup 2 interfaces and direct half the devices to one and other half to the other? By doing this will the router use two instances of OpenVPN to "double" the overall performance?

Great series of vids you're doing. On the topic on VPN's could you please have a look at running torrents through the VPN connection. I think the pain is getting a port though. On their windows clients etc you can request a port but not sure how that would work in Edge. I've seen some old scripts for PIA but no longer work. Thanks for your work.

You have just given me an idea to use a seperate SSID. I am using pfSense though. Don't use Ubiquiti ER however, love your videos.

Thats what I have, but I'm thinking of switching to edgerouter.. Right now I have a separate SSID and VLAN.. If I want to be straight on my regular NAT I use VLAN1 but VLAN10 traffic gets forced through the VPN so if the VPN goes down, there's no bad traffic that can get out..

I've done a setup with a Edgerouter X-SFP and three PIA openvpns on different vlans, but the EdgerouterX isn't powerful enough for three tunnels, it's just not stable. Waiting for PIA and wireguard on the edgerouter, meanwhile i run pfsense:)

The problem with 2 ssid's ... one with vpn and another without vpn it's risky depending on what you are watching on vpn ... You have to all ways be careful to be connected through the vpn when you pause from what you doing ... If by any chance you got disconnected and you device conmtects tot eh native lan ssid your IP is discovered ...

Really love the videos! I just migrated my home network from pfSense to ER4 and your videos help. Ubiquiti isnt as polished or as powerful as pfSense but I can see the light. What keyboard do you use? Sounds Clicky. Also would love if you could upgrade your audio. Sounds like an Mp3 from the 90's

Great video - a howto for converting this setup into an USG would be nice :-) I tried configuring IPv6 by making a config.gateway.json file (my ISP does only support 6RD ) but that failed completely.. The IPSec private network sounds like a fun project , and would be great with its own root-dns-servers and everything you need on the internet - just separated from the real net.... How long will it take until spam-bots and other malware enters the net?

Looks like a nice concept to have a VLAN. Double NAT = nightmare, it took me weeks to get back into my router to add a non-NAT IP for my main ERPro8. Looks like the ER4 is faster, which is interesting.

Anybody else have issues with PIA VPN? I'm connected and everything, however, I am not protected by PIA even though it is attached to my router (ER4). Any recommendations?

Great video, as always. I've been using PIA for about 6+ months. The bottleneck isn't your router. It's the fabric in-between and the connection on the other end mostly. I've run it on some very beefy firewalls/VPN clients with very little speed improvement. I noticed that you too are seeing some massive delays in launching the CLI sometimes after log in. I noticed the first one was really quick, the prompt appeared instantly. I'm now waiting like 15-30 seconds for the prompt.

I think I will keep my system intact as is. I have my VPN connections working and all my network devices running smooth and steady. If I can get a separate ISP connection I will use that for lab adventures inn the future.
