EdgeTX 2.8 New Touch UI • HUGE Improvement in Touch Accuracy • Model Setup with Radiomaster TX16s

In this EdgeTX video, I'll show you what it's like to use the brand new EdgeTX Touch UI Interface to make a model. There is nothing meaningful about the model setup itself. The intention is to show how the touch UI has changed the way we interact with the radio and how the UI changes have improved touch accuracy.

Great video. Excited to get my hands on when it’s eventually released. I did noticed that in the special functions when you selected a track, it did not give you a preview of the track sound. It would be nice to hear the track when you are setting it without having to get out of the special track mode!

Following another great video of yours today to update edgetx, unfortunately during the process of downloading from GitHub, a message appeared ‘restricted access only’ not sure why or if you have to be a member or associated with GitHub? But it certainly presents a problem, sadly. Be great know what to do next🤔 Quick note, All sorted in the end, I think it was me downloading too much at a time perhaps. It already looks soo good. I noticed that there's not any big changes on the model-select screen. I wish for folders with user-selected names. And "copy trims/sticks to" is so freaking cool.

Not a big deal and the rest of the functionality works very well. Thanks for all your videos. This weekend i'm adding 2 extra toggle-switches on my TX16S Max. ;o)

You can just touch any model and get the same menu as when you use the rotary. So to create a new model, press on an existing model and select "Create Model".

Hey I tried using the wizard to make a plane and I get error then have to shut transmitter off then back on to get out of wizard. Any idea why I can't do that?? Thanks I am still learning this radio love it so far have not flew a plane with it yet. Oh why I got u 😂 how come only get strength of 100 out of antenna but if put a modular in back get 250? What would cause the models from not saving? The only models that have stayed saved are the models I had before updating edgetx to the new models

hi you are the best internet edge tx video man I have been using open tx on my radiomaster 16s for a long time buy now have a radiomaster 16s with edge 2.8 have set up a model the same as on open tx and the chanell monitor screen works ok and my radiomaster 168 reciever binds but I have no outputs to the servo can you help cheers Brian

If you are 100% sure you have a bind, and you 100% have movement in your monitor on OUTPUTS (not just mixer), the only two other possibilities I can think of are the servo wire is flipped or the servos are bad.

You can simply download the sound pack and place those files into the Sounds folder of the SD card. I have sound files from several different sound packs in mine and deleted the ones that I would never use to keep from having to scroll through them all .

I've had a handful of EM's and some issues with USB. It's just generally not appropriate to fly with firmware in this stage of development. You take your model in your own hands if you do.

why after updating the tx16s to version 2.8 does the touch not work as before? it seems as if it is enchanted, if I move the sticks it works immediately, as soon as I try again it doesn't work, while in version 2.7.1 it worked perfectly

Why would one turn extended limits on for quads?? When I got into the tx16s and quads a lot of tutorials told us to just turn on extended limits, so I did... But I never really knew why. Or if I need it on

Extended limits is to enable more mechanical throw on a servo for some reason. It generally shouldn't be used. I also believe DSMx has a built-in limit of 80% pulsewidth and extended limits allows you to overcome that limit and gain access to the full mechanical limits of the servo when using that protocol--but I'm not completely sure of this. At 100%, the range is only 1100 to 1900 vs 1000 to 2000 @ 125%. From the MPM DSM Page: A range of -100% to 100% will give an output range of 1100µs to 1900µs A range of -125% to 125% will give an output range of 1000µs to 2000µs

Hard to answer that without using other branded high quality radios. What I can say is I use my TX16s for everything I fly. Some models are cheap, some not so cheap.

Model Setup -> Preflight Checks -> Center Beep -> T. Turn that off.

How did you turn it off? You can setup a Global Function or Special Function to turn touch on/off, but without one of those setup already, I'm not aware of any other mechanism to turn touch off. So how did you do it?

I'm not sure, but the touch part wouldn't work, I turned it off and back on and it worked fine. Don't know what I did. Thanks for the reply JOHN.

I see that latest firmware is now including this. Shown as firmware main. Is this now safe to use ?

The main branch is the development branch. When the final is released it will be forked as a release version 2.8.0. So the answer is no, do not use the main branch version for production radios unless you are experimenting/helping with development/acting as a troubleshooter. Wait until you see EdgeTX "Flying Dutchman" v2.8.0 unless you want to take the risk of using a pre-release.
