Most people, when they think of the Bronx, think of South Bronx, which is most definitely NOT green, but most of what I remember of the Bronx is from visits to the Zoo and especially the area around Fordham University (my dad’s an alumnus) and, honestly, I remember it as more pleasant than a lot of Queens

My borough! The Bronx is so underrated and has so many beautiful places. I didn't know Van Cordtlant Park had cricket fields either. I've been to Fieldston's Lodge for an event when I worked at Montefiore and it was amazing. I've never been to Wave Hill but will put it on my bucket list. I'm from Yonkers so I have of course lived near this area of the Bronx. I got so many memories chilling at Van Cortlandt Park, watching and hearing the sounds of the elevated 1 train passing by. I've lived in the Bronx for about 12 years now. Constantly told my college mates and coworkers (many who live in the lower parts of Manhattan, Queens, or Brooklyn, to give BX a chance. Also near the areas shown here is my favorite cafe, Mon Amour on 238th Street. The Woodlawn Cemetery has some of the most beautiful architecture I've ever seen. Van Cortlandt has a nice amount of wildlife (I'm a wildlife photographer and do lots of work there) and the bike trail in the park is actually part of the Empire Trail, which goes from Battery Park all the way up and beyond the Bronx(can't recall where the trail ends. But it's quite the ride.) thanks for doing the neighborhood justice.

I love Riverdale. However, it is isolated, which makes it lovely, but if you commute to Manhattan every day, you're better off in a proper commuting suburb like Scarsdale or Great Neck. From those spots you're in midtown in 45 minutes or less. From Riverdale you're on an express bus - not all that much cheaper or faster, and subject to various road delays and foul weather. The apartments are great, though, and some of the postwar bldgs have lovely, large, outdoor pools. If you're old, frail, rich and Jewish, the Hebrew Home is the best long term care facility in the city. If you can visit someone in there, you get the same views as from Wave Hill.

People always say bad things about the Bronx but really don't know. Woodlawn Cemetery is also very beautiful.

The Van Cortlandt's were originally Dutch, they did not come from England but rather the Netherlands/Holland. New York City was originally New Amsterdam & a Dutch colony when the Van Cortlandt's first came over.

Brilliant tips! Parks wonderful, Lieberman’s pastrami delicious. Sadly Lloyds closed on Sunday so no carrot cake for us - don’t make the same mistake! Thanks for all the tips!

Nice tour! I love The Bronx, worked up there for years as a paramedic. You'll find cricket being played in Kissena Park as well. Have you ever done a Queens greenway video? That would be cool!

Very nice to see and a way of life and environment from a slice of NYC. Seems like the best of both worlds. The patch of land and neighborhood resonates with me. Enjoyed the tour and guide - thanks so much 👍

Currently live in Manhattan, will probably continue to do so for the next few years but this was one of the neighborhoods I’ve been casually thinking about moving to once I actually want to buy something… Hopefully the prices don’t get jacked up in the next five Dash 10 years…

Hello, got recommended this video. Im a huge baseball fan and I also have many coworkers who play cricket. Most of them are Bangladeshis, they're huge fans of cricket. Those coworkers sometimes have tournaments with other bouroughs in the city which are organized by my job. There are a few neighborhoods in the Bronx that don't "feel" like the Bronx, this is one of them.
