Edgewater police are warning the community about the 'violin scam', where panhandlers are pretending to be violinists to attract donations.

They were at King Soopers N. Main St. US287 in Longmont a couple months ago. My mother was a violinist in the Black Hills Symphony Orchestra in the mid 80's. I knew the guy wasn't playing the song on the speaker in about ten seconds of watching him. Same guy that had the closeup.

Saw an entire family, with a young teen “playing” the violin, here in Utah last summer…so sad the parents aren’t teaching the kids to be productive members of society.

My wife and I were coming out of a store from shopping, we heard some of the most beautiful music, it was a Indian man playing Christmas music, I said to my wife, he must have came from a wealthy family and now hit hard times, my wife said, let's give him a little money, we gave him ten dollars, it didn't break us by it, and it made us feel good, now thinking about it, it makes me mad, being lied to!

If you find out later that there was an aspect of the performance that you didn’t like, you only have yourself to blame if you feel bad about it giving that money.
