So we saw 3 different kinds of teachers Jerusha: Concentrates on showing her students what she means rather than explaining terminology but is very technical and won't move away from the intended technique to try new things. Bart: A very straightforward teacher who believes in the power of practise. Prioritises simplicity over comfort which ultimately pays off. Elena: Encourages her students even if they are doing bad, so that they improve just to get more praise. I should mention I am not criticizing. All 3 methods are perfect.

@@mintmango10 no I dont think they are implying that, infact encouragement is the highest kind of praise due to most people get discouraged when learning something new and that they are bad at through encouragement kids/teens/adults feel like they can achieve something so wonderful it makes them feel like they are ontop of the world or well improves their outlook on life itself

@technerdchic
@technerdchic 4 жыл бұрын
I've played violin for 30 years, and tuning is actually a more advanced skill that takes a few years to learn how to do correctly.... Just sayin'... His tuning sound was good, and his positioning (arm and hand positioning) indicated that he already knew how to hold it correctly.... Holding it with just your chin is another difficult skill to learn and he did that while tuning with the other hand... I would have known he wasn't a beginner right then...

Very perceptive, too. It seemed like she picked up very quickly that he had some knowledge and perhaps more training than he was admitting to. When she asked him if he knew all the notes on the E-string…… Some yahoo who just picked up a violin and started learning from nothing is unlikely to know the notes, or where to find them on the fretboard. With each clue she seemed to gear her lesson to a higher level of student.

His posture and composure alone is enough evidence that he is a super pro. And the moment I heard him tuning, I was afraid he ruined the prank because most beginners who have been learning for over 3 years cannot tune that way, draw the bow that smooth with perfect balance and pressure. But it was still a good prank. I'm glad these teachers didn't get offended by this prank. Very professional of them.

I feel like this is a good way to verify how good a music teacher is. I had an awful guitar teacher so I quit, and friends who continued told me later on that he was shit and the ones they found after were good. Only musicians I feel like know for sure how good of a teacher another musician is. Just because you can do, doesn’t mean you can teach
@dee_dee_place

That's true of all teachers. First, you have to know your stuff, inside & out. Second, you have to know how to explain your stuff in a way your students understand. If your students not excelling, it's not them, it's you, the teacher. I've had teachers tear me a new one for saying that but I've had my fair share of teachers (some with P.hD.s) who could not teach. AND, I have taught kids math who were failing that subject in school. In under one hour, they understood exactly what I was saying & could do any problem in their textbooks. Math, especially Algebra & Trigonometry, are my best subjects. My MENSA member Uncle once said, "those who can do, do & those who can't teach". I said that to a nitwit HS Algebra teacher who became red in the face & almost pulled me out of my seat.

I can't help but love a prank that shows the person being pranked in a positive light and even promotes them in the very thing on which they were pranked. Is schadenfreude really an english word?? Because I know it from german😂
@videoinformer
@videoinformer 3 жыл бұрын
@@someonewhoexists7322 Indeed, *schadenfreude* is English as much as it is German, from which it was imported long ago. You'll notice your spell-checker doesn't underline it when you type it here in the comments. English is full of words imported from other languages, including many German words. Kindergarten, iceberg (eisberg), wunderkind, zeitgeist, angst, doppelganger, and ersatz are all similar examples, with the spelling only slightly modified for eisberg/iceberg. Also, here is its entry at the *Merriam-Webster English online dictionary,* where, if you scroll down, you find it also has a *"word of the day"* audio podcast you might find interesting to listen to: www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/schadenfreude English is a rich language because of the combined richness of the many languages from which it has freely borrowed over the centuries. It is fun to see this continue in present times and also see other languages doing the same, importing English words.
