Hi, Just wanted to give the thanks for your videos, they are super instructive and awesome. One thing that I struggle a little bit is with the weight distribution, when to move the weight from one leg to the other, when to put all the pressure in a specific foot for a specific task, if you could add that into your videos that will be super helpful! Thanks! pd. I'm waiting for your video on the Berlin 2024 marathon! Hopefully you were there too with Erick!

Greetings from 🇸🇬! Can you do a video on how frame alignment is properly done for the intermediate skater? And also how it affects the edging? Great videos! Helped me a lot. Thank you! 👍🏼👍🏼

the short answer is: dont worry about it, just have your frame alignment in the center. We will do a video about frame alignment someday though

I already do all of what you are saying and I still watch your video, that's how good it is. Edit: Could you do a video on backwards crossovers and the magic slide? Also backwards falling technique, I am trying to get more confident right now doing these things.
@flyawayjay79011 ай бұрын
I think he said during the mermaid technique video that the best way to fall backwards it to fall sideways, so if you're falling backwards, you twist to fall sideways instead by keeping your hands together and twisting your shoulders as well. It's like halfway into that video, definitely check it out.

I just started learning how to skate within this past week, got a pair of Inline skates. Skating is quite the work out and I'm using a lot of muscles in my legs and feet I don't normally put to the test. Also I've been flat footed all my life and I've read that it can be more challenging and painful for those with flat feet to learn how to skate. I was thinking of getting some insoles for my blades but from what I've read and watched it seems 50/50 on whether or not they would even help. Any advice?
@mysunsetglasses Жыл бұрын
I want to know the answer to this question too! It really does hurt. I tried putting in an insole and I'm focusing on fixing my over-pronated walk. Have you found anything useful? 😢
@skatingmagic254 Жыл бұрын
If you pronate, find a skate that allows for lateral adjustment. This way you get to position your skate in the most ideal position for your pronating feet. As for flat, get suitable insoles or even better, get fitted by a skate specialist.

Can you please make training video on how to control the speed when skating backwards, which includes slowing down and stop when skating backwards on inline skates. I see lots of backwards skating on quad skates that has toe stop to help with the slowing down and stop, but nothing on inline skates. I skate outdoor without the brake on my inline skates and I want to know different ways on how to control the speed safely. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

HELP: I'm brand new to skating, have basically nowhere to practice but I am dedicated to learn anyway. I'm trying to learn the parallel turn, but when I scissor my skates I naturally want to turn the opposite way, and edging my skates to the direction of the turn just throws my balance and I can't feel where to place my pressure. My feet always come back next to each other, breaking the scissor, and I go into an A frame turn.
@Thisissoul11 ай бұрын
you have to use/tighten your musles more during those techniques to make your foot do what you want them to do instead of them controlling the movement.
@chunkyazian11 ай бұрын
I've been struggling with this for a month but I'm starting to get it. Here is are a few things I've noticed 1) The basic mechanics of turning is similar to A-frame turn. You need pressure on your outside foot as you edge. But the parallel turn posture allows for a much sharper turn 2) Bending your knees and squatting down is really crucial. You need a wider range of movement to control your lean 3) Scissoring problem. If your skates are like mine, there's a hinge just above the ankle that let's you bend the upper part forward but not backward. Scissoring by pushing a lead foot forward simply straighten my inside leg. It became very awkward to keep it forward and end up being an A-frame turn. For some reason, I tried scissoring by squating on my inside leg, pushing the outside foot backward, and all of it just clicked. My inside leg is forward and bent; outside leg is backward, some what straighten, and has more pressure, which causes the turn. I even manage to make consecutive left and right turns as in a slalom 4) As with other skilled activities such as shifting gears, sailing a boat, etc., you don't really follow a check list of motions as a list of step. You're edging, scissoring, and twisting your torso in one smooth motion.
@calebburrell18387 ай бұрын
You would think that grinding would be counter-intuitive in the midst of edging. You might ruin your edge streak.
