I have the same deck, but I edged mine a single color pertaining to the main color of each card. It looks so pretty in an earthy rainbow when all the cards are together. I also had to trim this deck down, it was too large for my small hands. I am so happy with this mod it turned out perfectly! Thank you for giving us the courage to mod our decks!

Hi Michele, sorry to bother you again Orz I'm alost done with the edging project. The only thing is that with some cards I......applied the Distress galaxy gold too much and some edges becomes totally golden colored and overly shiny. (I did try my best to apply just a bit a time, but as long as my finger touched the card the powder immediately stock on the paper and refused to spread out as I rubbed fingers along with the edge.) Any suggestion on how to remove or cover up the Distreee ink Galaxy Gold? I've tried Crayola, Sharpie, and a pink highlighter, but the gold powders still shine through. I've also tried Distress gathered twigs and rusty hinge, the latter seems to help a bit but far from enough. This is my second deck mod project. The first one is for triming deck--your tutorial video was the one I religiously followed and it turned out great!!! I had had no idea I could acomplish things like this (hadn't done any craftwork after high school), and with your kind help I made it. Can't say thank-you enough for helpig me with getting not only a beautiful borderless deck, an inspiring way to build connection with own deck, but most importantly, the awareness of my inner Green Mother and Magician :) Modding deck is indeed a deep awakening and self-exploring experience. Thank you so mcuh!

The edges look great and especially when you fan out the cards and show the back. I like the addition of a final gold coat to finish it off. I would not have thought of doing this. Thanks for showing the process and how it evolved as you worked with it. I think I may edge mine in brown with a gold overlay for the touch of shimmer. I’m not brave enough to try the multi-colours.

Hi again Dawn Michelle. So I’m finding my colour is coming off in my hands a lot. I used the same crayola markers so was wondering if this has happened with yours? I thought the inks over the top would stop this from happening but perhaps I didn’t do enough of the inks 🤔

Hi Michele, I'm following your process for edging my deck and getting stuck in the Distress ink phase. It'd be great if you would come to rescue ~^^~ Question#1: After applying the gathered twigs at the corner, the blue color becomes almost like black, instead of the beautiful blue-green on your desk. I think I probably applied too much ink at the corners. Now the corners is composed of black and dark blue colors. Any way to fix it? I really like the blue-green color you created. I'm using Crayola Super Tip (Blue). Question#2: I notice your "green" area now has some blue hue, the "blue" area has some green hue, and the overlaping areas between green and brown, which used to be darker than both of them, now becomes even more pale than any of the green, brown, and distress colors. How did you make that magic happen? In my case the only effect distress has is to darken the colors or just turn them to black in some cases. Also, there are still distince overlaping lines\areas that don't get blured beautifully and naturally as yours. Any suggestions on how to create those magical effects you demonsrated (like how to apply inks or what additional tools could be useful)? Thank you so much for your kind help.
@DawnMichelleTarot
@DawnMichelleTarot 2 жыл бұрын
I use the distress ink very lightly and sparingly when I use it to darken and blend. A little bit goes a long way in that case. I generally use paper towels or makeup sponges to very lightly apply it for this effect. I also add little bits at a time. Unfortunately, once you darken it's really hard to lighten it back up again. I'm not sure there is much you can do in that case. You could try applying more of your greens and blues to add more tone, but the more marker you add the darker the colors are going to get. I think on this one, I also used a very light coat of the brilliance gold to help blend those colors. It's a wetter ink so it tends to blend better than the distressed ink. I hope that helps some, good luck with your mod! ❤️

That sounds like a lovely color choice for this deck. In my opinion, I don't think this deck needs reinforcement, I have been using the heck out of mine all this week and I'm actually really loving the way it shuffles and feels and it's holding up great. However, if that is a concern for you could certainly use the clear contact paper, but it will change the feel and the way the deck shuffles. I would recommend working with it for a bit to see how it's going to hold up for you. If you feel it's not standing up to the use, then you could add clear to the back. That's just my two cents, so I hope that helps. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

Does edging with crayola or prisma marker fade more compared to sharpie?
@DawnMichelleTarot
@DawnMichelleTarot 5 жыл бұрын
As I really only have one or two decks edged in sharpie, I'm not really sure how quickly they fade. The Crayolas and the art markers seems to be holding up pretty well in terms of maintaining their brilliance. Sorry, I'm probably not a lot of help with this one as I avoid Sharpie due to the smell and the fact that they bleed. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

Do you ever have an issue with the crayola color transferring to your hands while holding or working with the deck after it has dried?
@DawnMichelleTarot
@DawnMichelleTarot 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, on occasion, it has a tendency to happen more with the primary red, green and blue. But generally if I don't layer it on too thick and wipe away the excess the transfer is slim to none. Also layering it with stamp over the top seems to help "seal" it in. The trick is not to do too thick of a coat and to wipe it down in-between to remove the excess. I've found it's better to to do two lighter coats than one thick one if needed. And some good drying time also helps. 🙂 Thank you for watching. ❤️

@DawnMichelleTarot
@DawnMichelleTarot 2 жыл бұрын
I have done the metallic sharpies but that's it. They didn't work well for me. The marker barely had enough ink to do the whole deck and it's faded horribly. After that experience, I stick to the metallic stamps. 🙂
